God I loathe people (usually at work but sometimes in personal life situations) who are always like "Ooh you seem really busy, just let me know if you need help!" and then as soon as you're like "Well actually..." they're like "Ah this seems like something you can handle better!" [not true, btw].

100% of the time I would rather have a coworker who is like "Ooh you seem really busy. That fucking sucks. Good luck!"

I made an offhand comment to my friend's girlfriend at dinner a few weeks ago that I generally try to skip the trailers in theaters (I'd rather just get there right when the movie starts and save 20 minutes of my day - any trailers I actually want to see I can watch online) and she was just like "oh" and seemed weirdly disappointed. Well, I just found out that she works in marketing so maybe I inadvertently insulted her life's work 😬

I was just talking with a friend who hates cooking which is so wild to me bc I love cooking so much it is hard for me to understand people that don't like it, but i know many exist. my parents don't like cooking either, but my grandmothers both do, so i feel like it jumped a generation for us. and then i also wonder how much of it is learned and how much not. so! poll time

People always say "fake it 'til you make it," but I gotta say, nothing kills my respect faster than someone who is obviously talking out their ass about something they have no or little expertise in.

This just happened with a lawyer who is technically senior to me but has way less experience in my specific area of law. They just gave my own advice verbatim back to me (that I originally gave to them a few months ago - they must have forgotten I was the one who told them in the first place), only incorrectly (because the facts are different) 🥴

I was sad I couldn't make it to the DC Open finals today since both the men and women's side are great matchups, but given this crazy torrential rain I'm so glad I wasn't able to go lol. I would be so pissed if I was spending all of today huddled under a muggy tent with thousands of strangers.

I talked to my friend whose boyfriend was there and apparently he hung around for 10 hours because the organizers made it seem like the matches could restart at any time and they weren't good about providing updates. And then they ended up getting postponed to today anyway, and now he (and I'm assuming most people with jobs) can't go today.

Turns out Les Mis is 100x better when Jean Valjean and Javert can actually sing. Alfie Boe was incredible and sounds even better in person. The ladies sitting in front of us definitely had a huge crush on Jeremy Secomb as Javert as they gave a standing ovation for every one of his songs and were googling him at intermission. Everyone else ranged from good to great except for Cosette - the actress probably has a pretty enough voice for everyday singing, but it was noticeably way too breathy and thin for musical theater. When she "hit" the high note in the Heart Full of Love reprise, I almost unintentionally snorted a little because she sounded exactly like air being let out of a balloon. I do wish they'd staged the show properly instead of doing it concert-style, but all-in-all it was worth the ticket price if only to see this JVJ.
