Laser Gun for astronauts (Russia)
This weapon was designed as a self-defense laser weapons astronauts. The design team led by VS Sulakvelidze created a laser gun, which the weight and size did not differ from an army of fire-analogue.
It was found that the decommissioning of sensitive elements of optical systems, the enemy need not too high energy radiation. This is because the optics of the eye and focus the beams, increasing the density of the radiation in the hundreds or thousands of times. The elements are all laser active medium, pump source and the resonator. Requires a compact source of optical pumping, placed in the cavity and ammunition clips. The authors decided to use single-use development pyrotechnic flash lamp filled with oxygen and metal in the form of foil or powder. The first home-made lamps were in the form of cones 1 cm in diameter, was located inside a tungsten-rhenium filament coated with a paste fuel for firing pyrotechnic sweep (zirconium in oxygen). In the clip gun placed eight lamps, and after each “shot”, they are thrown as shells. The ability to dazzle and burn the beam remains at a distance of 20 m Various modifications of the device can be used not only for self-defense, but also as a medical tool. Work on the creation of individual laser weapon has been devoted to educational and popular film “Dangerous beam” created in the studios of the Ministry of Defense.

“Patch his wounds,” Qui-Gon answered her, nodding briefly to the med pack on her belt.
“Corbin, I need you to stay awake,” he poured all his focus in on the boy in front of him. It was the most important thing he’d ever done or ever would do. Saving the life of his son. He wished he weren’t so weak with illness, but he pushed that thought far from him as he put a hand on the boy’s chest and drove his focus inward. He lent the boy every ounce of his own strength, every iota of his remaining life energy, then he set to work healing the worst of the internal injuries. He was out of practice and it would take time, but there was no moment to spare for bringing him to town.
He had a vivid and terrifying flashback to finding Tahl, bloodied and broken…rushing her to the healers only to have it be too late. That wouldn’t happen this time. Not even if it cost him his life.
“Stay with me, son,” he whispered as he continued his work.
Corbin tensed as with the strength, also came feeling. He gritted his teeth in a muffled yell, everything hurt. His wounds were severe. A few broken ribs that made his breathing so labored, deep penetrating wounds to his stomach that went deep enough to hit organs, and a deep wound to his chest that had JUST missed hitting his heart. The fact he’d actually managed to stumble as far as Valia’s families farm was astounding. He should have hit the ground long before he cleared the forest.
He had injuries elsewhere, he himself had somehow managed to tie a makeshift bandage from some of the tatters of his pants leg around his thigh before he began the walk. The bandage soaked through with blood, starting to run down his leg again. A nasty gash ran across his face on his cheek and another on his neck, though the blood there had clotted with help of the grit and grime that coated his whole person.
Less serious scratches covered his whole person, a few looked as if they would need stitching but most would heal normally if he didn’t die here. Something, or many somethings, had clearly attacked him. One creature would be hard pressed to cause this much damage to a young jedi.
Valia swallowed hard as she set to work with the bacta pouches from her pack. She carefully applied the healing goop, then put bandages over the gaping wounds and taped them down. It was bloody work, and horrifying, but she knew what she had to do. She had to save Corbin. She worked quickly and efficiently with her deft and certain hands, and soon all of his major wounds were covered and as the bacta worked its magic. She hoped he wasn't too far gone from blood loss for it to matter.
The farm girl looked over at Qui-Gon. His brow was furrowed and though his face was pale it was flushed. It was brought home to her how old the man was. He never seemed very old when she'd talked to him. He was kind and strong, but this...something was wrong. Something was different. "I'm gonna go get help," she announced and stood, hesitant to leave either of them.
Not my best idea..
Qui-Gon didn’t hear the commlink beep right away. It pulled him out of deep and fevered dreams. He coughed into his arm before he reached down and picked up the offending device. Valia’s words made his blood run cold. He didn’t even bother to change out of his pajamas. He stood quickly and ran into the wall with his shoulder as a wave of dizziness overcame him. He winced in pain and took a deep breath, pushing the sickness back. The former Jedi Master’s eyes closed; he had to focus. He had to focus or Corbin was going to die.
He pulled the Force in around him and opened his eyes, then he ran.
He ran until he saw the children out in the field and again, his heart fluttered with a sickening panic that he refused to let overwhelm him. He had to stay calm. He had to breathe. He reached Corbin’s side and put a hand to the side of his face.
“Cory,” he said gruffly. ”Cory, open your eyes.”
Corbin didn’t react for what seemed like ages. His fathers voice sounded so far away to him. As if he had heard it from the other end of a long tunnel. He struggled to try to respond, but speaking seemed to be done for the moment. But he did slowly manage to pry his eyes back open a tiny slit. The movement took effort, it just seemed so much easier right now to just keep them closed. He was so tired, most of his pain had even started to fade from his mind.
The panic in Qui-Gon's normally easy tone set Valia's blood on edge. It was as serious as she thought, then. She wasn't sure what she'd do if the boy died here, in the field in front of her. Matti loved him. He was her womb-mate. They were closer than any friends she'd ever met at the thought of them torn apart. It wasn't fair. She knelt at their side and put a hand on Qui-Gon's shoulder to draw his attention.
"Can I help?" she asked, her voice weak with a fear she rarely felt.
Not my best idea..
“Just patch you up? With what?! You can’t even walk. You need a bacta tank. We don’t have one of those and I don’t have a speeder to get you into town.” She was angry with him. Exceedingly angry. What the hell was she supposed to do about this?
“Val…”
He made an attempt to speak, but his legs sagged beneath him again as his vision spun. His grip on her started to go slack, staying standing like this took most of the energy he’d managed to save.
"Nope. That's it. Calling Papa Qui-Gon. You're toast, kid," She helped him lower himself to the ground and took out her commlink.
