How was James with his friends?
iâm going to answer this ooc, because his response is going to be VERY different from how he actually was with them.Â
iâd say he and sirius got along swimmingly. The best of friends, general dicks to everyone else - so on. with remus, he didnât put as much effort into being with or around him? he defiantly still considered him a friend, and really cared about him; i just think that remus was also partly an authority figure for james and sirius, and heâd avoid bringing him into things that he knew he and sirius would enjoy doing so as to prolong the fun.Â
for example, with the incident with snape, he directly brought it to siriusâ attention, and it became less about the four of them and more about him and sirius. he knew remus wouldnât approve, so he sort of went off with sirius to start trouble. he still loves and cares for remus unconditionally, and that behavior between them might have changed as james hit his last year at hogwarts. i say might because iâm a firm believer that james didnât change as much as people believe he did. people donât have a complete epiphany and change everything about what makes them who they are. a lot of people that grow up privileged as he did have to deal with these sorts of character traits. i actually went to a private boarding school were a lot of the kids came from loving, supportive, wealthy families. it really effects how you grow up, and i wonât say thatâs true for everyone, but i think itâs important to consider that. heâs is spoiled. heâs not used to people telling him no. is he decent and civil? yes. when he wants to be. when he thinks youâve earned it. heâs one of those people that think you have to earn respect honestly. thatâs why he was closer to sirius then he was with remus. they had very similar backgrounds and they had very similar personality quirks. remus was always pretty fair and honest and respectful to everyone, and he most likely looked down on what he and sirius did to snape. ergo, heâd gravitate more towards sirius then remus.Â
peter is another story, though not quite as long as the explanation with remus. i like to think of their friendship as almost more one-sided than his relationship with remus or sirius. james more put up with him than anything. heâd be very, VERY quick to say that he loved and respected peter, and that they were all the best of friends. i donât think thatâs the case? i think there is a reason peter turned out the way he did, and i think part of it had to do with how his friends and how others treated him. i donât think he was given enough attention or respect, and he did what he did thinking that at least with voldemort, he would be shown a little more respect ? if that makes sense? who knows what voldemort told him honestly, but i donât think that if james was with peter how he was with sirius that he would have betrayed him. i could be completely off with this because we donât know much about peter, but i think about what mcgonagall said about peter a lot. that he always trailed after sirius and james. i think that he was ALMOST included in their activities, but james probably gave him reason to think that he wasnât as important to him as remus or sirius. be it joking remarks, or not inviting him places like he would with sirius or w/e. i just donât think they were as close as james pretends they were.Â
so super long story short, iâd say he and sirius were like twins, remus was more of an older brother, and peter was more a younger brother. if you have siblings, that says a lot honestly. twin, you do everything with. you love them unconditionally and no one could ever take their place. older brother you respect and admire, but sometimes theyâre just⊠not who you want around for a good time honestly. & everyone knows you ditch the younger brother whenever you get the chance - but youâre always going to be defensive  and protective over them.Â
