Could you do something on the exact Baylor defense? There's seems to be a little different and IMO the best zone out there. They run it so well.

Hey, my team runs a square offense and a lot of the teams in our region run top-back bludger defense. If you're looking for something else to do, I'd love to see that. Also, any good examples of teams that run square?

Without knowing the skill sets of your teammates and the beaters you will face, I’ve put together a few plays: a play I believe is a great play to use against a hell of a beast of a front beater, a play where your unarmed beater can prevent the opposing front beater from beating your quaffle carrier long enough for he/she to get within decent shooting range, and against a defense that uses both a point quaffle defender and beater.

Play #1

This play attempts to draw the front beater off to the side, and on the horizontal pass the offensive beater flanks the front beater allowing the recipient of the pass to engage the back beater and make a pass behind the hoops.

Play #2

This play has a very simple idea, have your best shooter drive towards the hoops, and have every other player prevent the defense from beater and/or tackling him. In case the shot is not open, or the defenders fight through screens look for one of the passing options shown on the play.

Play #3

This is a very fast acting play. Because of the double team on the initial quaffle carrier, the horizontal point chaser should be open. Combining that with an offensive beater should give the two chasers on the right a pseudo-fast break situation against two quaffle players. For this play to work it is important to have a strong passer, a fast chaser to receive the pass, and for the offensive beater to defend the chasers from the back beater.

I was unable to find any good film (i did not look very hard), but I am expecting to see some good film from World Cup showing a variety of offenses and defenses from higher camera angles than the past.

This is the Square Offense.

The square offense is a basic geometric set with the quaffle players set up in the shape of a square. There are some unique things the symmetry and wide spread nature of the set do to the defense. Give your team some variety in its offensive attack, and implement the square offense today!

What to do next?

What sort of defense, offense, or match up would you like to see next? Anything involving seekers? Mis-matches (ie. speed demons, against offensive beaters such as Asher King Abramson/UCLA, when players are on a roll/focus of an offense like Vannessa Goh in Western Cup for the Lost Boys, a tough defensive presence like David Foxx for Emerson, or any other mis match with or without a specific player/team)? Easy to learn ways/systems to implement plays? Drills to implement plays/sets? Quidditch X's and O's is looking for more people to join. The goal is to create an online playbook or sorts for the betterment of the sport. Quidditch is still young, and on pitch strategy will grow significantly in the coming years. Man Defense with a front-back beater set (Beater Focused, beaters to put pressure on quaffle carrier rather than a quaffle defender).

Everybody has been in a man defense at one time or another. This version of man defense has no "point quaffle defender", and puts the beaters in a front-back set.

This is the Point-Hoop defense. The defense is designed for teams with slower players compared to the opposing team. This defense works very well against teams that love to shoot from distance.

Each play in the set is characterized by a drive towards the hoops, including just to the side of the hoops, and the chasers near the hoops creating space for a pass.
