My Dunmeshi theory about Kaka and Kiki’s original name
Apparently nobody on Tumblr share this opinion about this dunmeshi lore with me, at least as far as I’ve searched, so I’m making this post. My apologies for the post being long and me overexplaining, I’m not sure if my poorly written sentences can convey what I mean so I had to be extra sure.

Withering Rooms is getting a sequel so I've gone back to finish my NG+ run I had abandoned, and I am reminded that this game is great and has a very broad definition of "witchcraft".

Hello! Thanks for reading this ask. It's a bit long, so it's ok if you currently don't have time for answering! Have a good day either way.
I have more questions about VPN if that's ok.
I'm not sure if it's you or @ms-demeanor who has mentioned that Express VPN and several other name-branded VPNs are bought by a company that has history of leaking data and distributing malware. Said company also purchased VPN ranking/ evaluation platforms, so now the search results are biased to the point of not-usable.
I have been reading up on r/region, r/privacy, and some of the comparison posted on GitHub. The evaluations are usually dated, use repetitive lingos with no source / explanation, and pushing for one brand of products.
I am also looking into potential CompTIA courses if it comes down to that.
I guess my question would be: what would be your advice for a layperson to be more informed about privacy, cyber security, and VPN? [I understand this may be too general a question.]
To narrow it down, if we can't trust search results, how should we go about choosing VPNs? (It seems that even within the same region, by the same provider, experience varies from not usable to "able to stream.")
Thanks for reading this block of text. And if I were to do some academic reading on the topic, what would be some keywords I should be looking for on Open source scholarly platforms?
[I am mostly at loss because of the tightening of Internet regulation almost everywhere and the lack of VPN providers in my area.]
I don't think I've talked about that issue on here, but I'm aware of it. It's actually worse than that: the company that's been buying up both VPN providers and VPN "review" sites also has a history of working in the "personalised advertising" space, which is a huge conflict of interest. Meanwhile there are other VPNs which may be compromised by links to state actors in various countries.
I use ProtonVPN specifically because Proton is an independent company based on a country with strong privacy laws (Switzerland). Mullvad, based in Sweden, is in a similar position. Those are the only two I am personally comfortable recommending right now, although my knowledge of the industry is far from total.
Honestly one of the best things you can do for your awareness of internet privacy is join a local makerspace, hackerspace, or other place where lots of nerds hang out. You will find people with a lot of knowledge and also Big Opinions, and the community's infrastructure will probably be cobbled together from self-hosted open-source solutions.
In terms of finding reliable information online....I would ignore people's specific recommendations but try to learn from their judgement processes. Like, even what I said two paragraphs ago: don't just take my word for it that ProtonVPN is trustworthy, but maybe take note that you should be looking for "independent company" and "servers in a country with good privacy laws". Then do your own research on what meets those criteria. Wikipedia usually has good details of company ownership where it's known.
Also, backing up a step from VPNs: remember, the best thing you can do for your digital privacy is to not let information leave your personal network unless it has to. I run my own document server (using Nextcloud) so I don't have to put stuff on OneDrive. I run my own photo backup server (Immich) so I don't have to put stuff on Google Photos. If you've got an old PC gathering dust in a closet, set it up with Unraid or TrueNAS and take some first steps on your self-hosting journey. The forums for those operating systems are full of big nerds who will have good advice.
It was definitely not me because I know fuck all about VPNs and am, generally speaking, skeptical of VPNs as a privacy solution for most people. There are absolutely use cases out there, but people think that VPNs will hide their traffic when what VPNs really do is move the visibility of the traffic from the ISP to the VPN provider.
A really great resource to learn more about privacy tools is PrivacyGuides.org, which has comprehensive explainers about a wide variety of privacy tools and recommendations based on their standards (which are, in my opinion, solid. They're very transparent about why they make their recommendations and familiarity with the site demonstrates why they're seen as trustworthy on this topic).
If you're interested in learning about computery hackery bullshit generally, see if there's a local infosec meetup close to you and start going. I think that a lot of certs do a good job on getting people to pass tests and a bad job of getting them to understand things. Genuinely I think you're better off reading through a history of arguments over changes to an open source security product and searching every term you don't understand than you would be in a CompTIA course if you're starting cold. Find security products you like or are curious about and start clicking around their public posts and comments (and, let's be real, a good security product is going to allow public comment rather than trying to do security through obscurity).
If you're looking for some regular reading on security stuff, I'm a fan of Schneier on Security.

How many of you have lived in a big apartment building at some point? It's a different experience from renting a floor in a duplex or subletting a room in a house. A single building that's home to so many people. So many lives existing alongside each other.
In the Gaza Strip, each residential buildings has around 40 apartments. 40 individual homes in one building.
My friend Fadel told me that Israel bombed four of these buildings since yesterday. 160 homes destroyed, just like that. Gone.
The last 117 residential buildings in Gaza Strip have been notified by Israel that they will be bombed.
Look how many families will be forcibly displaced.
So many people being displaced all at once means that everything becomes more scarce and more expensive. The price of a tent, the cost of fuel to travel south, the rent for a small plot of land to place a tent on, the cost of food.
The people of Gaza need urgent support for the cost of displacement.
Fadel (@fadel-danii) and his family traveled to the southern Gaza Strip see where they could rent a small place on the ground to place a tent and sleep. They couldn't find anywhere they can stay.
Israel is telling everyone they must leave or be killed, but there is nowhere to live and not enough supplies to survive displacement.
Fadel began his campaign to seek funds for urgent surgery to remove shrapnel from his body after the bombing of his own home. It has been so long since then, and he has not reached his goal. Not only this, but the money that he has gotten has been used up just trying to afford medication and to survive famine and displacement.
He needs to take medication for his chronic illness, a blood disorder, and due to scarcity, is very expensive for his monthly supply. He told me today that he hasn't been able to buy his medicine for a month because his family is saving money for displacement to the south.
Fadel wrote to me,
"This has greatly affected my health. I always feel like I will fall to the ground because of the dizziness and nausea I suffer from. Can you imagine what happens to me?😓"
It sounds incredibly painful and physically overwhelming to be over a month without needed medication, trying to find anywhere that is safe from bombings.
Please donate what you can so that his family can afford a tent and a place to stay, and so he can afford his medication. They do not have long to raise these funds.

Guys, we don't know what to do. We are going through the worst days of our lives alone, and everyone is looking at us silently. We are facing all of this alone. I don't know if all of this is simple for you!!!
Please stand by us and support us, and don't leave us alone. Please help us, look at us with mercy. Please help us by buying my medicine, collecting the costs of displacement, and buying some food. Please donate.
