With having my T injections, I get it done by the nurse at my doctor surgery. I don’t want to have to keep going in to have it done. Specially now that I will soon be having T injections every two weeks instead of every three weeks that I’m on now.

I only had it done by a nurse a few times at the start, and that was four years ago or so now. I can tell you I used to be afraid of needles, when I was 17 my mom and a nurse had to pin me down to give me a flu shot. I'm able to cope with that anxiety now, because I found my life pre-T to be unbearable and I don't care how fast my heart races, I'm not going back there. That said, when you do it yourself...You can go at your own pace and that helps. Often it doen't hurt much and sometimes not at all. But it's a lot more convenient and not a bad life skill. The nurses will probably teach you how to do it yourself and observe you some before letting you go off on your own. It isn't hard. Sterilize the area, push the needle in, draw back, check for blood, inject and pull out. Done.

The time I met another trans person: 1

Short version: I have met very few trans people in my life: This is the story of how I sort of met the first. I remember when I was a teenager in high-school there was once this trans woman who worked as a temp in our computer lab. She was the first trans person I had ever seen in real life. I was so excited and scared to see her, I just-I had never met anyone who might have understood what I had been going through. I thought she was amazing, and brave and I had no reason to think that other then she was working at my school computer lab.  She didn't pass but at the time I didn't pass either. Most people in my school read into it, most people my entire life did to some degree. I mean some close friends knew and some kids would come up to me and ask rude questions about being a transgender person. One girl even wanted to date me I think because of it...Anyway, I really wanted to talk to that woman. I wanted to tell her that I thought she was amazing, and brave and all those things. But then I thought about it again, and I thought I should just leave her alone. Let her do her job and let her just exist. I wouldn't have paid attention to any other woman temping at the school computer lab after all...And on top of that if I had been her and some teenager just came up to me and was all, "I'm trans too, and I think you're amazing!" I'd be angry. So I didn't talk to her, I just printed off my essay and left. That being said, while I was in the art-room later that day, or maybe later that week my teacher started talking about her. She laughed and called her an "it" and a "he-she" and exclaimed to another art teacher that she didn't know what to call the woman who temped in the computer lab. I became angry, I was often angry as a teenager but I turned around and said: "You'll call her a woman, and she because that's what she is. It's that fucking simple." I was a classy kid, angry all the time for a variety of reasons and often at odds with this particular teacher. That being said... I never saw the woman in the computer lab after that week. But, I hope she's doing okay.

Me: To state it in the most basic way, yes.

Me: Uh... [starting to freak out, getting really on edge by this stage] Well... technically, no, but there are such things are prosthetic penises. I can't have surgery yet.

Female: Oh. So how do you have sex?

Me: ...I don't.

Female: But I love having sex, don't you?

to anyone that has had top surgery: how long did your surgeon want you to be off testosterone before surgery? how soon could you start again after?

it’s something i am a little nervous about. i am waiting to hear back from my own surgeon on this, but i’ve gotten some conflicting answers from other doctors. thoughts?

Your best bet is to place it with your checked luggage in a baggy with your prescriptions. I've done this often, flying both internationally and domestically and there has never been a problem.

Applying to work in Japan

I'm applying to work as an English teacher in Japan. It's been a dream of mine for a very long time. I'm stealth but the application requires a lot of health information that my transition applies to. I'd hate for this stupid condition to disqualify me but I feel like I need to be honest about my health records, so...For now I've been honest about it. I'm legally male on most of my documents and my birth certificate will be amended before the end of the week. I'm also post op and have been on hormones for a long time.  I just wanted to know if on this site there was anyone who has tried to work in Japan. I know of one person personally who did it but they haven't transitioned so they wouldn't be of much help in this case. If not, oh well. I just wanted to throw that out there into the vast void of the internet. -Dillon

I once was friends with a trans-trender. They liked to post nudes and had a sex-blog and because they liked "boy" things and would pose topless they were very popular on some websites. They found out binders were a thing and wore them to seek out straight women at parties, thinking they passed well enough to fool them. Someone once got mad that they didn't take transsexualism or gender identity seriously, to which they replied that they didn't, and that was okay. They felt that they could identify as whatever they wanted to. When I told this story to another friend she replied "I bet you wish you could turn it off too." And you know what? I can't turn off being male. And I like being male.  But it would have been 100% easier to be female. Any kind of female.  And I dislike being transsexual but OH WELL. That's what I am.  And yes, I believe that non-binary people exist and are valid. I also think they are rare and there is a lot of bullshit happening on this site.  -Dillon
