man some dudes really act like going through one break up is a traumatic enough event to mistreat everyone in their lives for years… get over it fucker!!
some girls get mistreated their entire lives and are still the sweetest people on earth and then some dudes get dumped once in high school and are 25 now and are like yeah…. ive been through some shit….
A SpaceX rocket hit the moon. I am just sad and angry and disappointed.
I have to be honest, there’s not much music in the current moment that fascinates and amazes me as much as classical. This isn’t a ‘modern music sucks’ post, I just find myself thinking “how did someone ever come up with this” more with orchestral music. It’s exciting, and you’re taken through entire vivid stories in each song. It’s amazing.
thankful for bread and butter and garlic #thankful
FUCKKKKKKK what if something bad happened and I forgot to worry about it
I just feel like we're not talking enough about the pro-labor, pro-union, themes in Hadestown. My boy Orpheus is literally wearing a red bandana. He said you simply have to stand up, together, even when it's terrifying and you have never done it before. There are more of us than them. Even if it seems impossible we have hope, because we are standing in solidarity. You can only make demands of gods if you have your union behind you. And then you realise they aren't gods, and you can bargain.
Some is better than none. Some is better than none. Some is better than none. Walking for three minutes, is better than nothing. Drinking a glass of water and eating a snack, is better than nothing. Wiping down the counter, is better than nothing. Small things are not nothing. Small things are not nothing. Small things are not nothing. You don’t have to achieve grand things if all you’re capable of right now is the smaller things. They are still achievements. Don’t do nothing just because you don’t think you’re capable of doing bigger things, just do something you’re capable of today.

Oh. Oh.
every so often i remember how awesome the modern interconnected multicultural world is. i grew up getting to hear fairy tales from all over the world. africa, asia, europe, america. everywhere in between. i can have bagels for breakfast, curry for lunch, and ramen for dinner without even leaving the city limits. music and art and philosophy and technology that originated thousands of miles and years apart from eachother have come together and interwoven into something greater than the sum of its parts. its hard not fall into despair when thinking about the horrors but god. god the wonders.
you can have friends on the other side of the planet! neither of you even has to travel!!!!! you can just talk to them whenever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite little bits in Hadestown is when Hades sings, "and I could use a canary" in "Hey, Little Songbird", because he sings it to Eurydice, but the thing is, female canaries don't really sing. They chirp and whistle, but its the male canaries that sing more elaborate melodies. So then, in "Way Down Hadestown Reprise" and "Flowers", when she's down in the mine, no one is listening to Eurydice (the female canary, down in the mine), but once Orpheus comes- Orpheus, who's gifted, who's touched by the gods themselves, who's a male canary in a mine- people hear and listen to him.
also the sick irony of a foreman saying 'i could use a canary' to a girl he fully intends to kill. when the canary stops singing is when the miners are supposed to run for the surface.
a crude summary of one of my favorite musicals
let's all care. Forever
Imagine being Anais Mitchell and writing a song about the rhetoric of fascism so incisive and prescient that 10 years later an actual fascist would use that exact rhetoric down to the highly-specific phrasing in his presidential campaign. But also it took 10 years for the project you wrote that song for to move from living room shows to concept album to theater workshop to off-Broadway to Broadway, and its Broadway debut ended up coinciding with said fascist's successful bid for the presidency, and now it looks like your song that you wrote in 2005 is a super unsubtle reference to that one particular and highly-topical politician.
Frankly if I were her I would have started killing.
Dont blame yourself for not having known a lesson only time could teach
