Cup-Hilted Rapier

Dated: 17th century

Measurements: overall length 117 cm

The sword has a slim, straight, double-edged blade with a central groove at the first part and the writing ‘SAHAGUN’. The iron hilt has a double-valve chiselled with lions surrounding an altar with a beaded crown, pierced border decorated with flowers, and quillons with moulded arms of the hilt buttoned at the end, while the guard eis decorated en suite. The grooved pommel is designed in the shape of a plum. The wooden grip has a brass ring-nut.
