Jon, I passed!
He smiled softly at her when Quinnâs fingertips brushed over his palm. It was such a tender gesture. The skin of his hands was permanently marked by the all those times heâd tried to keep the Chaos from escaping his grasp, so instead of destroying what was around him, the energy tore apart and burnt his own skin. Jon may not have full control of his skills -and probably never would, since he didnât understand the full extent of his power yet- but at least it had been quite some time since he last harmed himself with his powers. âYouâre right. It wasnât easyâ he had to agree on that, because there was always in him that always drove him to keep Quinn safe and to protect her. âBut I guess I just have to come to terms with the fact that Iâm not your savior, or protector, love. I want to keep you safe, and I always will want that, but I canât let it be some sort of obstacle or limitant for you, Quinn. I would never forgive myself if that ever kept you from doing what you love or what makes you happyâ. He would always be there for her, that wasnât questionable. But the soldier in him had to let his warrior wife also go out and do her own fighting.
Jon smiled at the notion of turning one of the rooms into a nursery for their future child. He could dedicate some of his time working on the house to do that. His eyebrows arched up when a peculiar set of words left his wifeâs lips, a clear reference to a pregnancy. âQuinn, are youâŠ?â he began to ask but he trailed off, the answer to his question already clear in his mind. She wouldnât have said that unless there was already a baby on the way. A smile made its way to his lips slowly and he ended up giving her a bright grin, one that was a testament to the immense love he had for her. Unable to hold back the joy to know they were expecting their first child, Jon simply got into the tub driven by the impulse to kiss her He forgot about his clothes and everything, not minding for a second that he got them wet. His lips pressed against Quinnâs, kissing the light of his life both with tenderness and passion.
Of course in her mind Jon would always be her savior, there was no doubt in her mind about that. She just knew she too could protect herself and kick a little ass when she wanted to. Leaning her head back against the tub, she looked up at him, a smile on her lips as she chuckled. âYouâll always be my soldier, Jon. My brave, selfless and loving husband. As corny as that is, and honestly it does sound corny, youâve always been that knight in shining armor to me.â Quinn shrugged her shoulders, her hands reaching up to bring his lips down to hers. The smile on his lips showed he hadnât quite put together what sheâd said yet. Yes, she hadnât come right out and said she was with child, but the nine months comment made it clear. As his eyebrows began to raise, so did Quinnâs her eyes widened and nervous. âPregnant? YesâŠonly probably about three weeks in, probably, the doctor said my body reacts rather quickly to- Jon? Jon youâre going to flood the whole bathroom- oh my goodness!â The laughter coming from her lips cut her own sentences off as her husband joined her in the tub, her arms wrapping around his neck as his lips came down to meet hers once more. She was just as excited as he was, maybe even more so, but the nervousness of being a mother was still seeded deep down in her chest waiting to bloom into worry, to fear. But instead of speaking on this worry, she kissed her husband, pouring her love into those kisses.
Jon, I passed!
He sat there by the bathtubâs edge looking at her, his eyes acquiring that particular softness that was solely reserved for Quinn. His hand moved to the nape of her neck, slolwy rubbing circles there. He could feel how tense she was, but with any luck, his touch would help her ease and release some of that tension âIâm behind you with any choice you make, love. If itâs what makes you happy and is something that you truly want, then go for itâ he said to his wife with a tender smile. Of course going into the field psychology would have been a safer environment for her, but Quinn was not a glass doll that would shatter. She was a warrior, she had fought so many times already and she wanted to keep fighting to keep innocent people out of harmâs way. Jon couldnât help but admire how noble a calling that was, even if it meant more risks for his wife. She was the strongest woman he knew. He knew that she would be just fine once she became a part of the police force.
He continued to gently massage the back of her neck before his hand moved down to her shoulder. The man noticed a light shift in her expression, but before he could ask if there was anything going on Quinn beat him to it and asked a question herself. âNo, it wouldnât be a bad ideaâ he responded with a brief smile. The couple had spoken about having children as something from the distant future when the war was still going on. But now they finally had peace and were together in this place they could call their own. It certainly wasnât a bad idea to discuss the topic now that it was something they could actually do without fear of looming dangers. âI never had much of a family, you know that, love. And when I married you I knew starting our own family was something that I wanted to do. I suppose the timingâs better now than it ever wasâ.
One of her hands reached out to take hold of his briefly, a small smile on her face as she turned his hand upward, tracing the lines in his palm. Scars still pressed their mark into his skin, forever a memory, however distant were still so present for him. Years of watching him struggle made her immensely happy to see him gain some form of control on his abilities. It had never been easy, she knew that, but then again when had their lives been easy? âI know youâre behind me, you always have been. And I love you for it. I just know it couldnât be easy to just let go like this, with my safety and knowing you canât always be there, to protect me.â Jon had always been there for her, turn a corner hit a road block, he was there. He saved her life more times than she could count, simply letting go of something like that couldnât be easy, in fact letting go of her memories with a gun in her hand had taken a couple months in therapy before she could pass any sort of exam to become an officer. But even through that he stood by her choices.
Closing her eyes as light circles were being massaged into her neck, Quinn tilted her head to the side to further expose more terrain around that area, humming softly while a small smile graced her lips in accompaniment to his words. A couple of discussions had been made over the matter of children, but they all seemed to end with, ânot now,â or, âperhaps in time.â It seemed too far away from reach to think about at a time where people were constantly dying and the two had to fight for their survival. Now that they were free of this burden, they could have kids. That didnât mean Quinn wasnât completely terrified of becoming a mother. She had no doubt in her skills, well...mostly no doubt in her skills, but holy shit if she wasnât terrified sheâd make a mess of the whole thing. âOf course. I think itâs a great time to start talking about it as well, um...perhaps even making up one of those rooms into a nursery, I mean, we have nine months to do it, but it wouldnât hurt, you know to have that...room.â She hadnât really come right out and said she was pregnant. The words caught in her throat, and she rambled on, trying to get her point across. They were having a baby, and Jon was going to be a father. Quinn bit down on her lower lip as her eyes reached up to meet his, a nervous and unsteady gaze followed her hands bracing the sides of the tub.
Jon, I passed!
Hearing her say how much she liked their new home was all the man needed to hear. It brought a smile to his lips, one that genuinely reflected how happy he was about the new beginning they were making here in Willenhall. âIâm glad you like it, Quinn. I know itâs not the same it was before we went to New OrleansâŠâ he began to say, recalling how this very home had been so different back then. But so had they been as well. Plenty of new experiences, both good and bad, had happened since and in a way that was reflected in how they were making this house their home now. For starters, they were husband and wife in this timeline. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe. And both of them were doing their part in giving new life to the old place. âBut it really does feel like our home now, doesnât it?â.
Jon gave her a gentle smile as she walked in, blue eyes lovingly travelling over her body in a way his hands couldnât at the moment. He closed the faucet when the water reached a good limit, Quinnâs bath ready for her at last. He moved to sit by the tubâs edge, looking down at her with a soft expression âThatâs the thing, love. Iâm working exactly on what I wantâ he responded as he brushed some strands of hair behind her ear. For a man who never belonged, who always felt like an odd one out, like chaos walking, to have what he had with Quinn now meant everything. It was so much more than he dared to dream someone like him could ever have. âIt is about you, but it is about me at the same timeâ. His wifeâs happiness was his as well, after all.
A small frown presents itself on her face. She had not thought about the differences of the house in different timelines, per say, but the fact that this timeline was safe, they had each other and she was pregnant, that was a sign things would be different. She liked different. Quinn lets her hand reach out and graze his skin, her fingers wandering down to trail along his lips, tracing the outline. âYouâre right, it isnât the same as the New Orleans timeline. Itâs better.â The redhead couldnât help but smile, leaning forward to give him one last kiss before their descend upstairs.  âIt doesnât feel like our home.âÂ
Normally, Quinn would have put up her arms to cover herself, unsure and slightly embarrassed by her lack of clothing. Even though they were married and had be far seen every part of each other naked before, it still felt strange to be this revealed to someone. But today she felt a sort of grace to her walk, perhaps knowing there was a baby growing inside of her, or that for once she actually felt safe here, she wasnât sure. As she made her way to the tub, it felt effortless, and she eased herself into the warm water, letting out a sign of relief. Her muscles were tense, and her tired body took well to the warm water surrounding it as she brought her knees to her chest. âIf youâre sure. I just donât want to be the one taking all the spotlight here. I know weâd talked about a very different plan for me once before, psychology, one that didnât involve risking my life and guns to save people. But I believe in this, and Iâm really glad you do too.â Turning to face him, Quinnâs hand found his and she gave it a light squeeze.Â
For a moment she was silent, looking up at her husband with the adoration and love she had for him. This man was her world, her everything, and he thought she was some sort of celestial light that saved him. In Quinnâs mind, he had saved her. When she had very few people to count on, he was by her side no questions asked. Sheâd fallen in love with him because of his gentle and loving nature, two things people had a hard time seeing past the chaos he emanated. It was quite the opposite to the redhead who now wore a ring he had given her. For a moment she sits there, debating how to address the topic of discussion she wished to speak of. But then it hit her. She was blunt, to the point and had always been honest with Jon, and that wasnât about to change now. Perhaps with more ease, but straightforward nonetheless. âIâve been meaning to talk to you about this for a while, but, what do you feel about kids right now? I mean with the war over, everything settling in, it wouldnât be a bad idea to talk about that.â
Jon, I passed!
Jon smiled at her words and pressed a quick kiss to her lips. Ever since they came back to Willenhall, the former soldier smiled more than he ever did before. How could he not? The wars of St. Maryâs were finally over after all the years of pain and suffering students and professors alike had gone through. They could all start a normal life at last. Jon could at last have somewhere he belonged to and he was making a home in this town with Quinn by his side, the woman who was the love of his life. It was impossible not to smile more.
âI did, Mrs. Wolfe. Iâm turning this old house into the home you deserveâ he replied in a light-hearted manner, yet sounding quite proud of the work heâd been accomplishing over the past days. It was a lot of handiwork and he ended up pretty tired at night, but progress was being made rather quickly and the house already looked different than it was when they got here. It was more cozy, more like what Quinn had always spoken about she would like their place to look like. Jon was making it a reality for her.
He grinned when she dashed upstairs and he just grabbed his discarded shirt and put it on as he followed after her. The man made it to their room and went straight to the bathroom so he could prepare a warm bath for his wife. The water was running and he put his hand under the stream under the faucet. The temperature was perfect. âYour bath is almost ready, loveâ he said to her as the tub began to fill.
God, she loved this manâs smile. She loved him. The years before had been extremely hard for the both of them, the loss, the fighting, all the wars they had to fight just to stay alive, live a normal life and start a family together suddenly seemed worth it. Quinn had never been happier, and she couldnât hardly wait to tell her husband that their family would only grow. It did scare her though, the thought of being someoneâs mother. Quinn was twenty-four years old, married at twenty, and it was sort of crazy to think that at her age she could be having kids. But this was her life, it was just beginning, and it was exactly what she wanted. Kids running around the house, Jon sitting across the kitchen table from her, a widened smile on his face as she sat down to the meal she had prepared for all of them. A family, just as any other would be, and the only things theyâd have to worry about were keeping their children safe from bullies and boobooâs. That, Quinn could live with.Â
She couldnât help but laugh at his accomplished tone, happy to see him proud of all the work heâd put into their home. âEverything is perfect, Jon, really. Itâs beginning to feel like our place again, just like before New Orleans. I really did miss this...â She trailed off, letting her fingertips run across the hardwood kitchen table. Decorating had been part of Quinnâs way to make them feel at home, also proud of her work around the house. The living room was full of their wedding photos, and various other photos of their endeavors, and even of the Wolfeâs and Taylorâs. The kitchen was Quinnâs new project, and she was quite proud of the light blue and yellow theme she had going on.Â
Opening the door to their room, she hummed to herself, going to their closest to put the clothes sheâd been wearing into the hamper. Sheâd just barely caught a glimpse of herself in the full length mirror hanging from the closest door. Her back revealed various scars sheâd received with her time spent at St. Maryâs. Even the scar on her hand which Jon had inflicted had somehow followed her back in time. Once asked about it, Charles said some things about time never made sense. Though they had been transported back to their bodies in 2012, their age had only been clocked back one year, the scars covering their bodies still visible, apart from some. They were reminders that the past was not erased or forgotten, merely replaced with new history. When she heard Jon call to her, she looked up, smiling faintly before her gaze turned back to the mirror once more. This life had to be forgotten, and the new one she was living now would replace it. Quinn walked into the bathroom to her husband, leaning down to kiss his forehead softly before stepping into the warmed bath water. âThank you, solider. Youâve been so supportive this whole time, with the academy, the crazy hours, working on the house to fix it up to start a family together...I feel like you need time to work on what you want now too. It canât just all be about me.âÂ
Our Home in Willenhall
Jon inherited his grandmotherâs home in Willenhall, England, in which he and Quinn raised their four children and still reside in to this day.Â
Jon, I passed!
Jon couldnât help but laugh a little at her words, as always being very much in love with his wifeâs sense of humor. âYou do look gorgeous, loveâ the man confirmed with a soft smile before he leaned close to kiss her again. A hand slipped to the back of her neck and he pulled Quinn a bit closer. After breaking the kiss, he pressed his lips to her temple and embraced her, keeping her close to him. He was aware that she had been feeling sick for the past days, and it worried him that the nausea was still going on. Heâd been sure it had been the aftermath of food poisoning for the first couple of days, but now he was fearing that maybe she had caught some sort of stomach infection. He just wanted to pamper her and spoil her a little so she would feel a bit better. âSo you havenât showered, eh? The tub is fixed if you want to try itâ he mentioned with a loving smile, thinking of preparing a warm bath for her and then massage her shoulders. It was a good thing that heâd gotten that tub fixed so Quinn could enjoy it.
Sighing lightly, the redhead ran her fingertips along his muscles, watching the way they caught on every curvature of his body, enjoying the sensation on her skin. Biting down on her lower lip, she tried to hide the smile that crept up against her wishes, head tilting in a teasing demeanor. âI canât help but recall how lovely you looked, cheeky as ever sprawled out on our new bed.â Of course she was teasing him, but it wasnât a lie. Since coming to the house in Willenhall, or rather returning seeing as they had spent a year here before jumping back in time to the point they were at now, the newly weds had been at each other every night. In fact, Quinn had a rather difficult time keeping her hands off of him.Â
She let out a small chuckle as he wrapped her in his arms for another kiss, hands rests against his chest before the moved to grip at his shoulders, warming up to his embrace. The mention of a bath did peak her attention. âYouâve fixed the tub have you? Well, well, you sure do know how to get a womanâs attention; donât you Mr. Wolfe?â Humming to herself happily, she hurried over to their fridge, moving a magnet to place it over her passing graded paper before moving past him rather enchantingly up the stairs to their master bathroom. The best part of the house, she would always say, was the master bathroom. Ravishing, it was fit for a king and queen in her humble opinion, and she loved every second she was in there.Â
she said she took photographs to observe a world that just wanted to observe her
Jon, I passed!
It had been just a couple of days since the couple moved to this grandmaâs house in Willenhall. His house, the one that now belonged to his wife and him. While it had been in a decent state considering how much time went by in which no one lived there, Jon had been working on fixing quite a few things. The new roof was in place. The wooden floor of their porch was fixed. There were still some wooden beams at the back in the garden that needed some work and the man had been doing just that all morning. Hearing that Quinn had arrived, he walked into the house and greeted his wife with a bright smile. Soon enough he held her in his arms and kissed her. âCongratulations, loveâ Jon said to her as he pulled away from her lips, his arms still wrapped around the small of her back. An amused smile found its way to his lips after her bluntly honest statement âYou know, I was about to say the same about youâ he said to his wife before he stole a quick kiss from her.
Quinn was too excited about passing to comment on how nice to deck looked when she walked in, far nicer than the last time sheâd walked on it and nearly fallen through one of the floor boards due to the rotting. Actually that had brought on all the projects to the house Jon had taken on in the first place. The roof also needed tending to, seeing as some rain damage had begun to get in, which would lead to even more problems. Much to their luck they got to the house before it was far gone. But it was nice, being away from it all. The school, the war, the violence and all the death. At first it seemed too quiet, strange to the redhead that everything could just be fine just like that, after everything that had happened. Something always went wrong, so why not now? Sheâd practically been looking for things to go wrong now and nothing. Now, they were finally free, and happy. Quinn had passed her exam and could now move forward with her career, and Jon was fixing up the house so they could eventually start a family. Which reminded her, that wasnât far off...
For a while, Quinn had felt off. Something just...wasnât right with her body. Weeks went by, queasiness ensued, strange aches, her nipples had even began to ache which felt rather strange to her. Then it hit her. So this morning before her test, she went to the store for quite a different test and had yet to actually see if she passed that one as well. And now, she wasnât quite sure how to explain all this to her husband. A soft smile pressed against her lips as she chuckled, hands moving down his chest before they began to cycle back up, humming lightly as she did so. âIâm tired and itâs the one day I havenât thrown up all week. I didnât even shower and somehow I look gorgeous to you. I knew there was a reason I married you, solider. Itâs to boost my ego, clearly.âÂ
Jon, I passed!
âSolider! I passed the exam, I got into the police academy! A freaking A, can you believe it?â Quinn shouted towards the house as she closed the door to her red bug, nearly forgetting to in the first place as she ran up the steps to the house she shared with her husband, Jon Wolfe. âI passed.â The redhead said again as she before she flung herself into his arms, pressing a kiss to his lips. Sighing lightly, she couldnât help but let out a giggle, fingers still clutching her passed exam. It wasnât until she pulled away from him that she realized he was very sweaty and extremely shirtless. Raising an eyebrow, her fingers trailed down his chest, mind going blank as it normally did when she saw her husband shirtless. God, he was gorgeous. âGod youâre gorgeous.â Shit. I said that out loud.Â
Good, Iâm glad youâre home.
Jon returned his wifeâs kiss gladly, as he always did. Her next words brought a warm smile to his lips because that was all he aspired to be: a good husband deserving of Quinnâs love, and a good father and mentor to his children. Every now and then âpeculiarâ events such as this one happened at their home, but truth be told, heâd almost forgotten when had been the last incident of this kind. Jon kept his chaotic construct around the lion, a protective shield so it wouldnât jump in and attack his family. âLucy, are you okay?â he asked once more, putting emphasis on his words. Of course the projected animal wasnât a normal thing, and it could have harmed them, but he wanted to know for sure that his daughter wasnât hurt. Glancing back at Will and Lucy, Jon locked eyes with them and simply nodded, a silent request for the two of them to stay calm. His attention turned back to Emma as his little girl explained the reason for Lionelâs presence in her room. A frown settled on his brow, thinking of the same question Quinn asked out loud. Something tightened in his chest at Emmaâs reply. If only she knew most of his scars had been self-inflicted due to lack of control of his Chaos⊠and some of Quinnâs scars were his own doing as well. He looked at his wife and saw something in her eyes that he didnât fully understand. There was something the two of them had to talk about. âYouâre safe with us, darling, there are no bad things hereâ the man told his daughter as he stepped closer to her, still controlling the construct to keep the lion at a safe distance. âCan you ask Lionel to leave for now? Tell him your dad will make sure the bad things go away. Thatâs a promise, Emâ he told his daughter with a soft smile before he turned to Quinn momentarily, still trying to understand whatever it was that she seemed to know better than he did.
The last time Quinn had to deal with one of her kidâs ability outburst was this morning with Will and Sam. The time before that, Lucy had broken her boyfriendâs face because heâd kissed another girl. At the time, she was still learning how to control her strength, even now she sometimes hurt Quinn with her hugs. Lucy looked at her father and moves behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder and looking over at the lion. âYeah dad, Iâm fine.â She replies softly, glaring back at Will when he makes a face at her. A sigh escapes Quinn as she looks at the eldest siblings. If they could just get along...the redhead moved to her youngest daughter, kneeling down next to her and putting her hands on her shoulders. âEm, your father and I will protect you from anything, you know that. You have us, you have Will, and Luce, even Sam too. Weâd never let anything happen to you, do you understand?â Emma bites down on her bottom lip, shaking her head slightly, looking from her mom to her dad. âBut what about those papers, mommy? Who protects you and daddy? Lionel said heâd protect us from anything.â Dammit, this was all her fault. She should have been a lot more careful about where she left things out. The confusion on Jonâs face told Quinn theyâd have to talk later, and it wouldnât be a talk sheâd be thrilled to have. âEmma...those people are gone, now. You father and I take care of each other. We always have.â Quinn looks up at her husband with a small smile, reaching out for his hand.Â
