For anyone who's still around and wants to be educated, "narcissism" is a personality disorder, which is a fancy way of saying that it's a way of existing, which has real disadvantages, but which has also been effectively criminalized by the medicarceral system. If you hate narcissists, you are complicit in the ongoing social processes which deny them bodily autonomy, human connection, and basic dignity.
Narcissism/being narcissistic/having NPD is not a moral failing. Treating narcissistic people like shit is.
If you don't have NPD it's actually more important you reblog this. It's been really great seeing a lot of people with NPD react to this really positively, but I need everyone who does not have NPD to enforce this for their own blogs too.

-NPD has one of the highest suicide rates of any mood related disorder; slightly less impulsivity based attempts than BPD, but NPD sufferers are more likely to succeed in their attempts.
-NPD, like most cluster B disorders, is generally traumagenic, meaning it usually develops as a means of coping with childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
-"Narc abuse" is pop psychology with no real basis in reality. NPD sufferers are infinitely more likely to be abused than become abusers, and are typically more prone to self destructive than anything.
-If your parents sucked shit, it's because they *chose* to treat you like shit, not because they had a magic version of NPD that makes them a Bad Person. sorry you had to find out this way.
-Random people online with NPD aren't your parents and it's really creepy to project your trauma onto them.

i hate to sound pedantic and this is going to make me sound completely insufferable, and you're free to tell me i'm being an asshole. however: i literally didn't say that if that is the implication of the post i made, i'm extremely sorry about that. i would have replied to your post if i had seen it, but i hadn't. i tagged that post with transmisogny because that's what trans women experience and i figured it was an appropriate tag on a post about needing to support other members of the community. this is not a post about "trans women stop standing up for yourselves" this is a post about "trans men stop telling trans women they have it better" and "trans women stop telling trans men THEY have it better" because THAT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!

you know i had a lot of immediate reactions to this but after stopping and thinking for more than 3 minutes (shocking i know) i have a take i think is half-decent
trans women absolutely experience transmisogny. they are uniquely hurt BECAUSE they are women. they transition into a world that is actively hostile and oppressive towards them and we need to work towards solving that.
the reason i mention trans MEN is because we experience misogny when we dont pass and are perceived as women, and even if we DO pass we still get shunned by other members of the trans community who treat us as hysterical and selfish for... wanting to be part of conversations about our rights? we're counted as women in violence statistics, sexual assault statistics, MURDER statistics, we're consistently erased in favor of calling us masculine women.
the hypervisibility of trans women is NOT A GOOD THING. i'm so sorry that you guys are the ones being ripped into every single day by the media. none of you deserve how you're treated. but making trans men invisible has never once worked to fix that, and it never will.
