Storms thiroid levels are EIGHT TIMES too high and I need to take her back to the vet in a month, sooner if she takes a turn. We’ve doubled her thyroid medication, and I have to take her in by the second week of May at the latest to see if this helped and do an Xray to try and rule out any potential cancer due to the level being so high while she’s on medication. I’m monitoring her quality of life at this point, not quantity after today’s information.

Storm has saved my life hundreds of times. She knows tricks like spin, sit, and scream. She knows self harm prevention. When I truly had no human being who loved me in my life, I had her. When my husband died in 2019 I had her and we grieved him together. She came with me 2000 miles when we finally got free from my mother’s abuse. I wouldn’t have made it to 15 let alone 26 without her.
When it comes to my Storm, I owe it to her to throw out any dignity or pride I have for her benefit. I understand that I have an unhealthy attachment to her, and I know a part of myself I’ll never be able to get back will die when she dies. I owe it to her to make sure she doesn’t suffer for my selfishness. I’ll eat the crickets, ghost peppers, and whatever else you’d want if it means she gets whatever she needs to be comfortable until then.
I know that’s a lot of money to just ask for and I’m reaching out to any organization that may even potentially help, I’ll keep a count of what’s paid for in the notes.
Anything extra, or if the X-rays show cancer and we forgo the lab work, is going to go into an account specifically for her (hopefully) at home euthanasia, cremation, return, and urn. I can’t be unprepared if it’s sudden or if she does have cancer, that wouldn’t be fair to her. I can’t be here begging for money in the vets instead of saying goodbye if that happens.
I got her labs back, she is halving the nighttime dose and that means I need another 17$ to cover the new script as her high dose doesn’t have a cut line. I also have to retest her levels in 2 months, Then we can treat her thyroid permanently. That means I will start gathering donations now, so there is time to cover all the vet bills. My payment plan to be able to go to this vet at all is 110$ Every 28th, not including these extra tests. If I hadn’t signed up i would have needed 2 grand upfront. It’s gotten to the point I feel guilty for needing to purchase medication for myself

My mother, who is the main breadwinner of the family, has had her hours cut significantly and may or may not face being fired soon. My younger brother, bless him, has only been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital, and while his medication is covered, he has not been able to find a job. This means for us another mouth to feed, unfortunately. We certainly do not have enough money for the upcoming month's rent and bills, and so far haven't been able to get any sort of rental assistance. Dudes healthcare is so fake. My ADHD meds are $940 without insurance. But they gave me a website of "coupons" which straight up looks like a scam website, and I got it today for $60! Just a coupon from a random website and it was $900 cheaper. America, I am confusion!! America explain!!
as a pharmacy technician i can share with you some websites that give you those "coupons" for your meds!
goodrx is the most well known one, but if i'm trying to find the cheapest price for a patient i compare it to scriptcycle, and use whichever is offering the best price. you just type in the medication (PLEASE make sure you're getting the right drug, dosage, and quantity) and your zip code and they will spit out some offers for you
some pharmacies may have their own discount card to compare to as well!
if you are getting a name brand medication, you can also look at the manufacturer's website to see if they offer any evouchers for you to use too

i do not know how we're going to keep a roof over our heads. we haven't found a place to live in may, unless we can somehow procure enough to pay the exorbitant rent here. we can't stay in a shelter, she's transfem and i'm immunocompromised, it would be extremely dangerous.
