It’s the middle of May, and I’ve been staring at a twilight that feels perpetual. It’s the middle of May and the sky has stopped moving. It’s the middle of May and I’m holding my breath.
I can now only wait for the sky to fall apart, observe the clouds gush in the fresh cracks with swift gentle caresses of 'we know, love.' But this time, I do something new. I take out the trash, make peace with the tears that didn’t make sense. I stop looking for that final missing piece. I wind down, down—rest my head at the base of a waterfall and close my eyes. I pray. This Eid, I hope you find peace in the best and most unexpected of ways. Eid Mubarak.
