her  laughter  was  as  lovely  as  her  smile,  which  didn’t  make  isabelle  any  less  weary.    though  a  simple  sentence  said  more  about  her  boyfriend’s  family  than  he  ever  did,  especially  on  his  own.  ❛  i  see.    it’s  me  who  usually  interferes  in  my  siblings’  love  lives,  so  i  wouldn’t  know  what  it  feels  like  to  have  someone  pry  on  mine.    ❜    not  entirely  true,  but  there  were  certain  subjects  she  didn’t  feel  particularly  keen  to  discuss.    ❛    for  marriage  ?  well,  it’s  not  something  i  strongly  believe  in.    ❜

the mood shifted drastically. hera raised an eyebrow, conveying a thousand words in just one look. “you don’t believe in marriage?” hera asked. hera wasn’t a fool, she knew her husband’s indiscretions might have caused some to lose faith, but she hadn’t expected to meet anyone stupid or brave enough (the goddess hadn’t decided which the girl had displayed yet) to express it to her face. “well, i’m here aren’t i?”

it  was  unsettling  to  say  the  least  to  have  her  staring  like  that.  isabelle  may  not  exude  purity,  per  se,  but  she  had  nothing  to  feel  unembarrassed  about.  she  didn’t  regret  any  of  her  choices,  she  never  once  felt  any  regret  regarding  her  relationship  with  ares  (  even  if  she  did  have  her  doubts  )  a  chocking  sound,  covered  by  a  not  so  subtle  clearing  of  throat,  when  the  concept  of  marriage  was  now  laid  in  front  of  her.    ❛    no.    no,  no,  no.   i  appreciate  the  pseudo-blessing,  though  it  is  still  a  bit  insulting,  but  we’re  not  even  remotely  close  to  that.    ❜    fingers  ran  along  jet  black locks,  only  because  she  needed  something  to  do  with  her  hands.    ❛    i—  i  haven’t,  yet.    i  was  also  under  the  impression  none  of  you  knew  about  me  either.    ❜  

hera smiled, icy curiosity swapped with condescending amusement. “what made you think we wouldn’t know? we are notorious for interfering with love lives. well, at least i am. i don’t know about my husband, but i keep a watchful eye over my children. though, that task may be too daunting for him.” hera paused, lost in her thoughts, before she remembered that isabelle was there. “so why aren’t you ready?”

for  being  as  young  as  she  was,  isabelle  had  had  many  life  experiences,  meeting  someone  else’s  parent  not  being  exactly  one  of  those.  especially  when  the  people  in  question  were  greek  deities.  head  up,  raven  locks  falling  down  her  shoulders  like  cascade,  she  kept  that  prideful  posture  her  bloodline  was  known  for,  even  if  she  felt  extremely  uneasy  by  this  new  presence  and  the  questions  she  came  baring.  ❛  i’m  quite  certain  your  son  can  take  care  of  himself.  ❜  perhaps  not  the  best  way  to  respond,  yet  the  most  honest.
