Trust Issues

Been hurt so many times Been lied to repeatedly, from left to right Been over it so frequently that your mind just prepares for it Like flinching to cover yourself, when all they did was move Defense mechanism; Just trying to protect your heart & soul Trying to prepare for the attack Push them away before they leave “They’ll all leave anyways” Expecting the worst, never something good “Expectations lead to disappointments anyways”

Come across good people Come across people you feel you may trust You get comfortable Then it kicks in again “If I trust them and they fuck me over, I really can’t trust anymore” So you push them away again You test them You push to see if they’ll stay Push harder to see if they’ll still stay Harder Harder Harder You test them over and over Until one day, you burn them out They give up on you Still, you reconfirm “I knew they’d leave”

Repeat

Now you’re in a cycle Lonely cycle of reconfirming to never trust Those people you’ve encountered though - Some were willing to stay Some were trying to help you But you pushed them Again & Again & Again The thing is, there’s no ending to questioning There comes a time where you just have to trust Or you’ll just burn them out At that point, it’s not them you can’t trust It’s you You can’t trust yourself

Let your heart heal Determine who to trust You can take as long as you want But once you decide, don’t question them Don’t question your decision Don’t question yourself Just trust Let go of your fear Let go of yourself Trust Only then can you free yourself from that lonely cycle
