can we talk about how badly wavelength is treated in season two
we lost all the relationship and character development related to him in season one and the prime defenders are just such assholes to him now
like imagine being him and you spent so long protecting your son and then youre convinced to let him go do hero shit and he ends up possessed by the thing that killed his mother
and theres just these 3 young heroes that dont really take anything seriously supposedly trying to get him back but as far as you can tell just keep doing other bullshit
and they have the audacity to act all high and mighty and like you're awful and evil

Okay so this one would actually call to rewrite a majority of mid since y'know, not very kid friendly...
Anyways-
Asch and Rhys are neighbors, both very upper class kids. Their in the 1st grade.
Noi is a new kid who's in kindergarten only because of his birthday date. He shares a recess and lunch with Rhys and Asch because that's how I'm saying this school they go to works.
It's my au I get to decide their school system.
So Rhys and Asch are just chilling, Noi comes up to them wanting to be friend. Asch reluctantly let's him after Rhys says okay but also reluctantly because their big kids and Noi's a little kid.
Leif is a 1st grader too but the trio kind of just pick him up because he's a foster kid and he has issues with socialization so he doesn't really talk to anyone by himself (they find him under a slide during recess and Rhys decides to let him join them. Noi was onboard with that idea and Asch was not completely.../Noi wasn't actually invited to hang out with Rhys or Asch but they didn't want to be mean and possibly be in trouble for making a kindergartner cry.)
Rhal is 13 and goes to the middle school. Pierce is 12 ½ and is in the same grade as Rhal. Bish is too.
Rhal and Pierce only talk to Zex because he's Bish's little adoptive brother.
Rhal is dating Bish but neither really take it that seriously/ except Rhal is clingy and slowly starting to annoy bish.
(they probably break up eventually and remain friends to some point.)
(also Zex is a 4th grader)
pierce is Rhal's best friend and daily goes over to the Elwood's home to hang out with Rhal.
If Rhal isn't home pierce sometimes takes Asch out for ice cream just to do something while waiting for rhal.
Zex picks on Asch, Rhys, noi, and leif. Zex used to be in the same foster home as Leif once but got adopted and just left Leif there (Leif hates his guts/Zex didn't mean it but he doesn't want to admit he wanted to say goodbye)
Rhys, Asch, Noi, and Leif all play/make up silly stories about "daemos" and a group of them going to earth to save their world, like heroes!
You know George and harold from captain underpants? Yeah, basically them. You also know how they base characters off people they meet?
Asch thinks Pierce is cool. He doesn't talk too loudly, he gets Asch treats, he doesn't really hesitate to say yes to dumb things that seem cool to a kid (Ex: Walking in town when the suns down, rough housing with Rhal, playing football in rainy weather/wet field, etc etc)
Rhys also knows Pierce to a degree from the times he's came over to the elwood's residency. He also thinks Pierce is pretty cool.
Pierce is also tall so there's that, some kids will glorify literally anything.
Hence where pierce came from in their make believe stories.
Asch also doesn't like bish because she has a rbf and he's a little scared of her because she doesn't have much patience after dealing with Rhal.
In other words Asch prefers pierce over bish (also since Zex is Bish's brother Asch automatically dislikes bish.)
Bish's real name is Naomi Bishop. Asch heard pierce call her a bitch once when in Rhal's room (Pierce didn't know Asch heard that), misheard it as bish, found out her last name is Bishop and started calling her bish. Zex is...well. his real name is Zachary Ex Bishop. His middle name is Ex. His family ditched him very obviously.
Asch thought it'd be rude/funny to call zex Zex because of his first letter being Z and the middle name being ex.
"what about ava?" Well,
She's a 5th grader, 11 years old. She was adopted when she was 6. She gets hired to babysit each of them every now and then and starts small little group babysitting sessions because she realized the 3 kids she's babysitting are all friends. (Well Asch and Rhys are, Noi's not.) She learns about Leif and lets him get invited to the hang out too and eventually she meets Pierce and Rhal who come and go here and there.
Lorelai is Ava's age and actually somewhat friends with Rhal, But he doesn't pay much attention to them.

The original MID story gets rewritten to be sillier, they keep their personalities, but the situations are more childish and less serious. Because some jokes would just be weird.
Instead of the usual Ava's power source it ends up being her hair ties after a silly joke ava made about hair ties being her lifeline.
No one but Asch, Rhys, Leif, and Noi know about the stories. Not even Pierce. Though he's slowly starting to notice the frequent asks of paper and crayons/markers....plus the question on how to spell certain things.

His glasses are sometimes uncomfortable because they're fitted for Lady Grandma
He says nothing about it though because he assumes that that spell has a side effect
He's afraid of heights because before, he couldn't see how far down stuff like drops were. Now he doesn't like them because he can see that now.
Is an only child, acts like an older sibling
Asch's first friend, and first frenemy, back to friend
Tired but keeps pushing himself past his limits
Doesn't accept gifts because he feels he has to earn them
Also struggles with "unearned" compliments for that reason
Was originally raised as a servant, hence why he took to cooking faster. He already had previous knowledge
Can also sew, so the others give him their clothes to fix
Hates winter
Seriously, he's already cold, and now there's more cold
And ice cream worsens the cold now. Awful. Get rid of winter
Loves summer though.
Very insecure about being the kid of two underaged servants
Also hates anyone he sees as a threat to his advisor status. Because if he loses that, he loses everything.
FINAAAAALLY got some me time after like 2 weeks straight of studying , spent it on this hopefully its worth it💔

Has no memory of his mom and relies on stories from Rhal and Lady Grandma
Rarely gets his dad's approval because Rhal is the "greater heir"
Grew up pretty isolated and had no one to play with except for Rhal and Rhys
Tried to copy his father when he was younger in hopes of getting his attention.
Rhys:
Works himself beyond his limits because he feels like he's nothing without his job
Is scared of someone replacing him and him going back to being a servant
Insecure about his eyesight. Used to be picked on for it, until Asch stepped in
Also has no memory of his parents. But unlike Asch, he has no one to ask about them.

I turn 30 next month so here’s what I learned in my 20s:
—don’t work for startups, they’re always one ‘innovative idea’ away adding ‘sell your kidneys on the black market’ to your job description.
—keeping a collection of basic OTC medicine on you will save your life one day. I recommend Advil, Imodium, and TUMS.
—those little single-use glasses cleaning wipes are 1000% worth the money
—overly self-depreciating jokes just make people uncomfortable, wean yourself off of them
—you can buy dehydrated mini marshmallows in bulk online and they’re a godsend for hot cocoa
—people don’t care if you have fidget toys on your desk they just want to play with them
—try to go to bed BEFORE the existential ennui kicks in
Also drink water and eat a plant
This is all GREAT. I turned 40 last week, so permit me to add what I learned in my 30s:
keep on not working for startups
sometimes there comes a point where the thing (fandom, hobby, friendship, romantic relationship) you loved no longer brings you joy. And that's okay. Try to mourn the loss, take joy in the memories, and don't burn any bridges in case ten years go by and you find yourself back in that fandom/hobby/relationship again
it turns out that (ugh) moderate regular exercise is (spit) good for you. The sooner you make it part of your life, the easier it'll be
related: if you throw yourself into a new exercise regime too hard and too fast, without stopping to rest or consider whether a particular move is good for you ... well, shoulder injuries are painful and consults with orthopedic surgeons are expensive
knees are bastards too
don't even get me started on ankles
there may come a time when your digestive system is too fragile for ibuprofin. I'm sorry
one day you're gonna wake up and realise you no longer give any fucks about some things that used to bother you
on the other hand, you might be alarmed to realise what you still give a fuck about
never get down on the floor without an exit strategy for getting back up
I turn 50 this year. what I have learned in my 40s:
"loving yourself" is less of a feeling and more of an action. you can start doing it any time and it will make your life better and better as you go on
this will happen incrementally - be patient
along those lines, if you haven't started making an active effort to quit shit-talking yourself, suck it up and do it
no, shut up. do it. "but it's haaaaard!" don't care. do it.
whether you like it or not, you are mortal and you need to go to the doctor for an annual checkup
stretch regularly - your future self will thank you
at some point you will encounter people much younger than you arguing passionately and incorrectly about history you personally remember and experienced
this will be infuriating and annoying
otoh, most other things just... will not matter to you as much
at some point you will shift from wanting to go out to being like "eh" and deciding to stay in. this is okay.
you will have absolutely no idea what The Youth are talking about and you will not care
but if you keep your mind open to new ideas you'll never be irrelevant
your company still doesn't love you - don't give them more than they pay you for
get a fucking hobby, especially a hobby that involves physically creating/handling something and/or moving your body in physical space. it will do you more good than you can imagine

Find joy, every kind, it's always worth it
I'm talking that massive, never-ending Discord chat with your bestie? The one that makes you giggle through the day? It's not a "waste of time," it's what time was made for
If that's fanfic for your favorite characters who never even met on screen celebrate that!
If that's building a tiny fleet of snake villagers for your snake town and they just cover your mantel hell yes!
If that's collecting pillows and making a fort of them every weekend I'll be right over
