In her defense, she had just flown into England from Turkey, which is why she was wearing the scarf at the airport (and that pic is of her in Turkey). And an airport employee told her she had to remove her scarf and show her passport. Once the employee realized she was a white woman, they left her alone.

She wasn’t trying to pull a Rachel Dole Juice, but basically saying, if I was actually someone who wore the scarf for religious reasons that would have been 100x scarier.

I saw the headline expecting to start clowning her, but she wasn’t being extra… at least not this time.

It’s sad that it only becomes valid and newsworthy when a white woman says it b/c there are tons of reports of Muslim women being profiled and harassed and people just disregard it b/c it’s coming from a brown person.

She said that she was at a hotel in LA. People on Twitter were able to track her IP address and later found out that she was/is in Mountain View, CA. She has not responded/posted on Snapchat in a couple of hours. She said there’s two guys there, one who goes by the name of Tank. They’re black, taller than her (like 6 foot or something) and wearing white and gray. This is a picture of one of the men She sent it to someone who messaged her.

She is almost certainly no longer in control of her account. The hashtag #FindKennedi is getting some use on Twitter and people are updating info as they get it. We have to assume that whoever she is with is aware of the social media focus on her right now and may actually be using the info people are posting to stay a step ahead of efforts to locate her. If you feel like you have useful information for law enforcement, share it with them and not online. Do not post her presumed locations, you’re either wrong or you’re right and they know to leave.

Sheila Fedrick by all accounts should be considered a hero.

Fedrick, 49, a flight attendant working for Alaska Airlines, said she noticed a disheveled girl who looked to be 14-15 years old, with a well dressed man, and something told her the scenario was wrong. So she jumped to action.

Fedrick said she tried to talk to them, but the man became angry and rude.

“I left a note in one of the bathrooms,” Fedrick said. “She wrote back on the note and said ‘I need help.‘”

Fedrick says she called the pilot and told him about the passengers, and when the plane landed, police were waiting in the terminal.

And Fedrick was correct, the girl was a victim of sex trafficking, and now more flight attendants are being trained on how to spot them.

Nancy Rivard, founder of Airline Ambassadors, says since 2009 Airline Ambassadors has been working to make sure that when a trafficker flies with a victim, the flight crew is trained to spot and report them.
