and i realize it’s because y’all don’t understand what it’s like to love a country despite it hating you. y’all don’t understand that you don’t only love your country for what it is, you also love your country for what it can be. 

y’all need to understand that by erasing and ignoring these players so that their country can fit your agenda, that you’re erasing and ignoring the statement they’re trying to make. they play for their country despite of it’s faults, not because of them. they hope to inspire change and make progress in places that are actively working against them.

and the players who have the option to play for more than one country aren’t playing for a european nation for the sake of it being european, they’re playing for that country because that’s where they feel like they belong. in romelu lakaku’s players’ tribune article, he explains how he was born and raised in belgium and how even though he is congolese and is proud of his heritage, he is belgian and that’s how he always felt, so if you don’t believe me, take it from the man himself.

y’all just gotta stop saying that these european teams are white because you’re completely ignoring the struggle of colored players from those countries, where most of their athletes of color are of african ancestry (which anti-black as fuck, just so y’all know).
