may i request a fanfic that the reader and toya aoyagi are rivals in study at school? and then an event that changes their views from each other. a little bit of angst, but in the end, they have a happy ending :> tysmmmm <3
I LOVE THIS REQUEST TY FOR SUBMITTING THIS THOUGH I AM REALLY LATE SORRYZ
You loved reading, you’ve loved doing so since you were a little kid! And by that means you are of course in the library committee! It was really good and awesome, all the members there loved you, but that was until you realised that your class enemy is part of it too during a meeting!
Aoyagi Toya, prodigy student, high grades in everything, good looking, tall.. handsome- Ugh! You’re getting off track now!
He was perfect in every sense of the word. But you despised him! Why? Because You were supposed to be number one in your class, not Him.
This (one-sided) rivalry started after he got a way higher score than you in that physics exam, even though you overheard him telling a classmate he barely studied! What a liar…
Meanwhile you, studied all night just to get half of his score?! Makes your blood rage.
What pisses you off more is the fact that everyone started crowding and begging him to teach them and be his tutor (of which he kindly declined).
After that you made it your mission to always surpass him in every exam and test your class has!
He even noticed that the sole reason you were getting such high and good grades was because you wanted to become better than him, and not because you were bragging in his face.. not at all.
The school and classes started getting noisy, the bell for lunch rang, signalling a break for enjoy a meal from the cafeteria or homemade, but for you that means going to the library to study for the upcoming test in a month!
“Hey, are you okay? You look dazed.” Akito said to his partner, sitting next to him barely touching his bento, he looked like he was thinking about something.
“Ah? I am? Hm.” Though he replied, his mind was very clearly on another world.
Akito lightly smacked his shoulder to wake him up from his trance, “Just tell me what you’re thinking about! Stop being so mysterious.”.
Toya let out a sigh of resignation, putting down his chopsticks he began to rant about you.
“There’s this classmate of mine who has some kind of hatred for me.. or something?” He began, “They always try to ‘beat’ me by getting higher scores than me. At first I just found it amusing– But every day, any chance they get, they are always buried in those books, studying, and that’s only when I notice. I’m getting a bit worried about their health.”
He explained. Despite being a picture perfect, straight A’s student, he values mental health a lot and knows when to take breaks.
Akito scoffs, “Really? Them again?”
Despite giving him such a disdained answer, Akito also seems worried– well not for you, but for how much Toya’s mind wanders around you.
Recently, All he’s been talking about is you, mostly chuckling over the way you brag over your score just to realise he got the same or higher score than you.
And Akito has been noticing that, actually most people have! It seems even Tsukasa-Senpai has been a victim of Toya’s ramble about this one classmate that is always on his mind for…some reason.
“Well, I’m just starting to worry–“ He replied with a sigh and continued, “–Maybe I should confront them”
“You definitely should. Especially since they have been bothering you this much.”
Toya’s mind was set, Today after the library committee meeting, he will talk to you and confront you!
Tell you that, studying and getting good grades is about self-accomplishment and you shouldn’t do it because you want to be better than someone else… Yes! And you would feel touched and then you both will become friends!
It would be if the library committee leader didn’t make the decision to host a competition as a way to end the semester.
The competition is all about knowledge about all the subjects, the prize? Twenty-four thousand yen, which equals to 150 dollars, pretty cool right?
Toya knew that you would give it your all to succeed in winning, but not necessarily about the prize, but just to prove yourself once more that you are THE smart one.
After the meeting concluded, Toya found his way to you, determined to put and end to this studious rivalry.
“Hey, can we talk?–“ before he could get another word in you interrupted by putting up a finger to shut him up.
You looked at him like he just burned your house down. Though Toya just wanted to clear up things between you, it seems you had thought of other plans.
“Listen here, prodigy boy, whatever it is you want to talk about will not let me give up.” You begin, feeling way too, boisterous to even give him a chance to speak up.
“I will win this contest, and I will show everybody here who is the better one, the smarter one! And you will not take the attention away from me once again!”
At this point you left Toya totally confused– Attention? Is this really what you think of him? As someone who is purposefully getting better marks than you because he want to grab all the attention that you rightly deserve?
“What? That’s not what I…“ He didn’t know how to finish his words, you left him speechless, he didnt want to be seen this way.
And for some reason, by you feels even worse than it would if it were just another random jealous classmate, why is that?
“See you next week! At the competition. Make sure to give it your all!–“ you said teasingly, satisfied with the reaction you provoked out of him, yet something feels.. odd.
“–Because I won’t go easy on you, Aoyagi.”
The whole week before the contest, you two were on opposite ends; You were burning yourself out reading any book you find about any sort of information that might help you, While Toya wonders if he should even participate in the first place.
You were really smart, scarily smart, if he had to admit it. You could memorise a whole presentation in just under five minutes.
You were also talented in cooking and baking as he noticed by that one time you brought homemade cookies to school for Valentine’s day.
And you smelled sweet, like cinnamon..
And he has to admit you also are really attractive as well!
To think he was so foolish to not realising this sooner, he liked you. He liked your determination, your will to achieve your dreams and goal, to do anything that it takes.
It makes sense as to why you’ve been on his mind so much lately..
Looking back at what you said after the meeting, he felt really disappointed in himself, why didnt he notice sooner that a dear classmate of his was suffering from such vigorous envy, it was right there ,whenever you bragged about your mark being higher than his, or when he turns someone down when asked for tutoring and you’d come to tutor them instead. It all clicks one.
But he was too ignorant to realise.
Toya made a quick decision that he’s sure he wont regret. He texted you, letting you know that he wont be participating in the competition because of his busy schedule.
Your reaction to that was…
Wait, you should feel glad and happy that the person who is the biggest bother to you right now is turning back at the last moment!
As if he was the reason you put in the effort to study in the first place.
The money? Your family are home owners in Shibuya, you have plenty already.
Reputation? Its not like one of the smartest students winning a “being smart” competition is gonna make your reputation spike up suddenly.
So, he really is the reason you burn yourself out every time there’s some sort of test, to prove something.
Was brain all you had to your name?
You crossed off your name in the competition contestants.
There was not point in attending it anyways.
Not a lot changed between you and Toya at first.
He tried to make the first move but you became avoidant, never even meeting his stare.
But after a while, you started warming up to his presence. He may seem like a cold guy at first but he’s really a sweetheart.
You two would hangout at time, maybe you would go and see his street performances at times and..
Have study dates together.
