truthfully, i feel that death is much more even-handed than life. life so frequently rewards cruelty, punishes compassion, and sends plague to the already misfortunate. death simply welcomes all who arrive at his doorstep.

yeah, and so they should be held to the same fucking standards as us. if a regular citizen shot a man because he was holding a cellphone and they mistook it for a gun, they’d be labeled impulsive, paranoid, and almost certainly they’d be jailed. but because it was a cop, suddenly it was “justified.”

or if an adult had shot and killed a literal twelve year old for playing in a park with a replica toy gun, it would be considered outrageous and the shooter should most certainly be jailed. but it was a cop, and so the criminal charges were denied.

or when a nonverbal autistic teen with cerebral palsy was shot just for holding a knife. there wasn’t any de-escalation or adaptation in terms of communication in line with his disabilities. they surrounded him and opened fire almost immediately. charges were not filed.

and that’s only three cases. i am sure i will make more posts in this topic- not to mention on ICE. i do not care if the officer was scared or nervous or “unsure.” lethal force should be the very very last resort- and yet, for cops, it so often seems to come as easy as drawing breath. if any regular person shot so quickly, they would be jailed. but for cops? people who should, arguably, be help to an even higher standard with all that training? they just get away with it, time and time again. this is not okay. i am angry, and you should be too.

you know, I sometimes tease my partner for being hyperfixated on Romeo and Juliet. and then I remember that one of my biggest hyperfixations is literally just the Bible (but read as a novel rather than a religious text.) we both like doomed pairings- except their favorite is Romeo and Juliet, and mine is Judas and Jesus.
