I Can See Clearly Now
Greetings friends
For the last couple of weeks we have emphasized opening our hearts. Today I want you to open your eyes.
We have reached the new month of elul – the month of healing before we take a look at ourselves during the days of awe.
Keep your hearts open to joy and continue to celebrate love and freedom and kindness and forgiveness. Keep practicing the 30 habits for happiness and continue to – be kind, dream big, smile more, show gratitude, eat well – do those and see the changes in your life.
This month as we focus on healing, we begin to open our eyes and really see – see ourselves; see others; see the real world around us.
And I was reminded of the story – of a regular guy who found himself lucky enough to have a genie who was willing to grant him – not three, but four wishes - so he said to the genie - “I wish I was rich” and the genie snapped his fingers and there was a poof - and the genie said “it is done”. The fellow looks at himself and says, “nothing’s changed”. The genie looks at him and said - “I simply made things more affordable”.
The fellow then looked at himself and said to the genie - “I wish I was beautiful” and the genie snapped his fingers “poof - it is done”. Once again, the fellow takes a look and says, “nothing’s changed” and the genie said - “I simply changed the standard of beauty”.
Well the fellow looks at the genie and says “ok - I wish I was happy with myself”. And once again the genie snapped his fingers - “poof - it is done”. And the fellow thought for a second and said, “nothing’s changed” and the genie replied - “I simply lowered your standards”.
The fellow then said, “Well genie, I’ve got one more wish --- I wish I was worthy of love” and once again the genie snapped his fingers “poof - it is done” and once again the fellow took stock of himself and said - “nothing’s changed” and the genie replied “correct”.
Nothing had changed - he was always worthy of love - he just did not see - Friends - you are worthy of love; you are happy; you are beautiful; you are rich. How you see the world and yourself - is in your control - value yourself as you really are. This is the month to look at yourself. You are each and every one of you – a beautiful person -
Remember your intention sets everything in your life in motion – so pay attention to everything you say, do, be – think before you speak. Remember that your words are the magic carpet to action – they are our friends, our enemies, our healers and our destroyers – they are the tools of creation and the tools of destruction as you move along your path of holiness.
So let us join together and embrace the freedom to be you –
And please do continue to spread love and forgiveness and healing to all you know in need of renewal and see the blessings in your life; see the miracles; see the beauty; see the growth, see the opportunity – they are everywhere. Take some time and make sacred time and sacred space a part of your life.
Feel free to share this audio with any you think might enjoy it, and of course enjoy all of our past audio and video episodes which are available on our YouTube channel. This episode will be posted shortly on our channel - click here to watch the Rabbi David Gellman Show
And if you are one of the people this was sent to by a friend and want to receive it yourself, let me know and I will add you to my mailing list.
Thank you all once again for joining me, for allowing me into your homes, into your electronic devices, into your hearts – as you are all with me in mine –
Be well, be happy, be healthy, be free, be kind, be forgiving, be compassionate, be independent of mind and deed, be mindful of your intentions and be good to yourself. Continue to celebrate the taste of freedom in your life and the peace that comes from acceptance – and as always - if you have any questions or suggestions or just want to say “hi”, please send me an email. I love hearing from you.
And remember anytime you do not want to receive these anymore, please send me an email so I can remove you. And know - that I truly appreciate your sharing your sacred time with me thus far.
Thank you once again for sharing parts of your sacred lives with me and celebrate love and life every day.
Blessings

Greetings friends
Open your hearts to joy and continue to celebrate love and freedom and kindness and forgiveness. Keep practicing the 30 habits for happiness and I know you are all doing some of the 30 happy habits I shared with you last time and I bet you are feeling happier already.
Certainly if nothing else – be kind, dream big, smile more, show gratitude, eat well – do those and the rest will come.
This week we begin the real reading about blessings and curses and about how to open our hearts – it is easy. We cover them; we build walls around them; we isolate and insulate them – and us from life, from love. Tear down those walls – troy, Jericho, berlin – they served a purpose but had to come down. We built our walls to serve a purpose – to protect us – but now they too can come down. We are protected.
Open your hearts and feel the flow of energy course through you. Remember friends, In our lifetimes, we seek kindness, compassion, fairness, peace, guidance, comfort, love and in a perfect world, we know where these are and we take the chances to have it and to provide it – and all of us, in all of our lifetimes – had those feelings - so find those angels of yours and tell them – without them, we endure life; but with them, we rejoice in it – so let us rejoice again. Underneath our differences, we are the same and we all share the sacredness of the lifeforce.
We bring our intention to everything we say, do, be – so think before you speak. Remember that your words are the keys to what gets set in motion – they are our friends, our enemies, our healers and our destroyers – they are the tools of creation and the tools of destruction as you move along your path of holiness.
So let us join together and embrace the freedom to be you –
And please do continue to spread love and forgiveness and healing to all you know in need of renewal and see the blessings in your life; see the miracles; see the beauty; see the growth, see the opportunity – they are everywhere. If Not For You
Greeting friends
Celebrate love. This is the festival of love week – the happiest day of the calendar – so be happy and love.
Because we are celebrating happiness this week – here are 30 habits for happiness – do a few of them; follow the 10 words; and love – and you will change your life –
Be kind; eat well; exercise; meditate; be honest; dream big; be patient; judge less; smile often; love yourself; forgive easily; show gratitude; think positively; drink lots of water; believe in yourself; keep an open mind; put your needs first; don’t make excuses; speak well of others; listen to understand; choose faith over fear; make the most of now; exercise self-discipline; look on the bright side; avoid social comparison; see failure as opportunity; don’t take opinions to heart; select friends that lift you up; let go of what can’t be changed; and have a healthy sleeping pattern
This week we have another reminder about the power of words. The world was called into being and we have used our words ever since to create the lives we lead. They are the most sacred thing on earth, and we have gotten far from the understanding of the sacredness of our words. Now we are reminded of the 10 words of the great Sinai epiphany – the rules for living life and the 6 words that form the cornerstone prayer of Judaism – if you just listen and we are told that promises count and if you promise – you do.
The Words
Greetings friends
This week we we begin the final book of the Torah – the book that was missing for hundreds of years and the book that is so different than the others. It is a book of repeated law, but more than that – it is a book of words. It is the farewell address of Moses and it is incredible.
The people are at the gates of promise but they never enter the new land and perhaps many of us are still on the outside looking in. we are all here to help, to ensure everyone gets to his promised land.
More than anything, we are reminded about the power of words. The world was called into being and we have used our words ever since to create the lives we lead. They are the most sacred thing on earth, and we have gotten far from the understanding of the sacredness of our words.
In our lifetimes, we seek kindness, compassion, fairness, peace, guidance, comfort, love and in a perfect world, we know where these are and we take the chances to have it and to provide it – and friends, all of us, in all of our lifetimes – had those feelings - so find those angels of yours and tell them – without them, we endure life; but with them, we rejoice in it – so let us rejoice again. Look at the sameness of mankind, not his differences; the sacredness of the lifeforce.
We bring our intention to everything we say, do, be – so think before you speak. Remember that your words are the keys to what gets set in motion – they are our friends, our enemies, our healers and our destroyers – they are the tools of creation and the tools of destruction as you move along your path of holiness.

On the Road Again
Greetings friends
This week we end the book of Numbers and it ends with no conclusion and for probably close to 800 years this was the official ending of the Torah. Deuteronomy – the book of words – was found much later.
The people are at the gates of promise; Moses is instructed to get ready to die – but first – he has to wipe out the Midianites. Thankfully we never read that this happened but what we do read we are puzzled by. It is not what we are made of.
More than anything, we are reminded throughout this final reading of the importance of our vows, our promises, our commitments, our word. It is real, it is palpable, it is binding. We have gotten far from the understanding of the sacredness of our words.
This is our reminder and we are reminded that the shedding of blood pollutes the land. We cannot destroy what we are to caretake.
In our lifetimes, we seek fairness, peace, guidance, comfort, love and in a perfect world, we know where these are and we take the chances to have it – and friends, all of us, in all of our lifetimes – had those feelings - so find those angels of yours and tell them – without them, we endure life; but with them, we rejoice in it – so let us rejoice again. Look at the sameness of mankind, not his differences; the sacredness of the lifeforce.
