I maaaaaay be in the minority here but I am known for being opinionated and outspoken about shit I just don’t feel right about….
I honestly didn’t like how Telltale handled Bruce and Oswald and Bruce and John Doe/Joker.
I felt little to nothing for John Doe. He was cute and all but that was it. I hated how the second season of Telltale Batman had Bruce be all CAUGHT IN A BAD BROMANCE with John Doe (and fucking killed off the most sadistic Daddy Riddler at the end of the first fucking episode!). It was basically just a weird dating sim or something, and I really didn’t give a shit about their “bonding.” At least, not to the extent that it took up so much time within the season.
In the first season, though, Bruce was lukewarm towards Oswald at best, his childhood friend whose life got fucked up because Bruce’s dad was an S.O.B. I mean, Bruce wasn’t cruel to Oz (depending on the choices you made, I guess), but I felt like he was almost completely detached from Oswald – and I felt so fucking bad for Oz! I mean, this scene in the gifs explains why. The guy lost everything because Bruce’s father was a greedy dickweed, and Bruce was just so…passive. I felt like Oz was more upset about the lack of friendship between them in some ways like he was a little bitter that Bruce was so neutral towards him.
And don’t get all up on my ass about how I hate Bruce Wayne and I just don’t “get” his friendship with John Doe.
Batman is one of my favorite comic superheroes of all time, even in the Telltale Games. And I “got” the friendship between John Doe and Bruce, but too much time was spent on it.
Maybe I’m a little biased because I am very partial to Telltale Oswald (I mean, he is one of my f/os, after all), and I’m soft for sexy villains with tragic backstories). However, I can’t be the only one to feel this way. I wanted some more goddamn angst between Bruce and Oz at least – give me SOMETHING, you know, to show that Bruce actually remembered their friendship more fondly.
Again, this is all just my opinion and I don’t expect everyone to agree.
Plus, this isn’t even the most DRAMATIC AND CONTROVERSIAL OMGGG opinion I have. You want some real goddamn hot takes that stir the pot? Just ask me about how I feel about Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat 11’s take on Sindel, Mortal Kombat’s Cassie Cage, and BlackCage (Erron Black x Cassie Cage).
