Eventually we'll get chapter 3 of the Starstruck abo fic,,, my partner fixed my pc thankfully but now my keyboard isn't working- I thought this curse hit at like chapter 30???

I will FOR SURE have a 3rd chapter ready next week, even if I have to type it in my notes app!!

Also this heat is killing me guys. Why the fuck is it 110°F outside?! (That's 43°C for my non-americans-) I feel like I'm melting.

So I did the math last night- Or Google did the math-

But if Grace left for space when Evelyn is six, and it takes Grace 4 years to reach Tau Ceti it will have been 14 years on earth. Plus the three to four years it takes to get to Tau Ceti, that's 8 years Space Time and 24 years Earth time. A return trip with little to no stops, no nothing, would be 48 Earth years, 16 Space years. By the time he returned home to earth, if he was to return home to earth, Evelyn would be 54 years old. She would be older than him, if she was still alive. Tom would be likely around his 70's or 80's while Ryland would only be around his mid to late 40's.

His daughter would be older than him.

His Tom could pass as his grandfather.

And this fact breaks my heart genuinely

Tom and Grace who have history together.

Tom who has, miraculously, become a celebrity spokesperson for PHM.

Grace who is now face to face with his ex for the first time in seven years, and finds him with a kid attached to his hip.

Tom who became a single father too soon, now having to deal with the fact the world is ending and his ex is apparently one of the only people who can save it, and his little girl.

Grace who is still faced with the same choice (so he believes). Save the world, get aboard the Hail Mary, or stay on earth and everything potentially dies, only this time he has something. He has a kindling romance again with Tom Ryder, and a friendship with his daughter, Evelyn, who can count to a hundred but mixes up her letters.

He has friends, family, a life he wants to keep living but if he chooses to live it, he risks it all.

Grace thinks about Evelyn, who is only five and so so bright, who could potentially be the smartest kid he knows (he's not biased, he swears-). He thinks about Colt and the news of Jodys own pregnancy. He thinks and he thinks and he thinks.

"I can't do it. My place is in the classroom."

"Stop pretending this is about your students, it's so insulting." But it is about his students. It was always about his students, and the fact that if he succeeds in space he will never get to see them succeed, never get to see Eve grow up and become something great.

And if he doesn't go, he may never get to see any of them grow up.

Cut to Tom who knows. Who has always known who the replacements would be, and has signed a very tight NDA about it. The second he heard word of the explosion, he knew what choice Ryland would be given and didn't know what to think about it.

If Ryland goes, Tom will never see him again.

If Ryland stays, Tom will never be able to forgive him again.

There are so many choices to be made and none of them are the right one, none of them are a good one. But then Tom sees the news.

Astronauts Ilyukhina, Yao, and Ryland sent to space to find the cure for astrophage. He's given his scripts. He's made to smile, to act, to be grateful towards their heros.

Tom has to pretend it doesn't break his heart when he hears Evelyn run to the door everytime someone knocks, excitedly screaming for "Rylie!!!" Who is never going to knock on his door again. He pretends not to break down at night after he's tucked his daughter into bed and forced himself into his own, scrolling through images after images of Ryland with Evelyn, of his smiling, beautiful face.

He pretends to believe when they tell him Ryland went of his own accord. He pretends not to know in his heart that Ryland was of all things, a coward.

Ryland ran away from their relationship once, seven years ago. They found their way back to eachother, eventually, but...

There was no finding their way back now.

So many thoughts about the ABO au,,,, would anyone wanna see a few one shot collections about the universe? Namely how Grace became a worker of Scentspace? Or how he became a member of Eva's pack accidentally??? Maybe a small little "What could have been" Bloody Mary spin off? Starstruck is Endgame, but I'm just so plagued with thoughts about this universe and H o h,,,

No chapter this week??? Idk when I'll be able to release another but I'm hoping I can get smthing typed up on my phone!!! It just might take me a lil longer.

Fun facts!

—Grace’s design is a mix between book and movie, and the writing on his arm is directly stolen from one of the whiteboard scenes at the beginning of the movie. He is a red fox, of course

—Tom is a German shepherd, a very popular and marketable breed that, due to its high energy, needs to be very active (party guy) and can become very aggressive if not trained to correctly output this energy (though really, this is most dogs. The truth is just that it’s popular and matches his hair.)

—Simon is a mutated Donggyeongi, a breed known for guarding and independence, but just like any other regular ol’ dog has an affectionate side. They’re pretty important in Korean culture, and had a population scare that has since started to be resolved. One of their key features is a very short curled tail, which I’ve replaced with an eel tail since otherwise it would not have been seen from the angle drawn

—Stratt is a German Longhaired Pointer (originally was gonna be shorthaired but… I like fluffy) It’s a hunting breed (typically for waterfowl, but they can be used for furred creatures in wooded areas, such as foxes, as well), and yes those are shackles on her wrists :)

—Stratt was originally gonna have a more serious expression, but I changed it at the last minute to look more resigned or silently grieving. I think that fits her character better

Crashing out at work so im forcing myself to think about how hard jody tried to stay in contact with Colt and he just didn't let her. Did she go to his house during recovery and the second he could stand on his own two feet, he locked the door and never let her back in? How many times did she call before he got a new number and she got that "sorry this number has been disconnected-" line? How many times did she try to show up at his house, banging on his door begging for any sign that he was alive only to recieve none?

Truly I think she forgave him too easily, but that could just be me. If my boyfriend broke his back and then shut me out for 18 months I'd also make a diss track (movie) shitting on him and venting out my emotions. But even as she wrote their terrible love story, she still made the character inspired by him a hero and I think that says so much about how much she loved Colt...
