“Neku, come on!”
It’s Shiki and Mr. Mew from The World Ends With You! I had fun with the star motif that shows up in her fusion pins to create a base for Mr. Mew’s jumping pose.

“The beat is on!”
It’s Beat from The World Ends With You, my favourite partner! I based this sculpt off the original NDS box art and his level 2 fusion attack.
RE:Imagine - TWEWY Cover/Remix Album
Well there’s no new actual TWEWY news yet but people are keeping the dream alive, and this is a neat thing that came out today.
Catboss and Materia Collective have released an album of brand new takes on TWEWY classics, actively choosing to try and put them into different genres and create a unique but familiar experience.
You can listen to it here on Bandcamp, and if you enjoy it you should throw some support their way by purchasing the album!
2018 has been a pretty TWEWY heavy year, so sit back and relax and let RE:Imagine ride you out into the next one.
Hey it’s the joke literally every single one of us made after finishing A New Day.
These have been sitting on my computer for over a month.
The concept documentation for Emotion Edge, an early pitch of the game that eventually became Subarashiki Kono Sekai, is up on display at ARTNIA Cafe in Shinjuku.
It shows off the TWEWY that could have been; a rhythm-based battle RPG set in Shibuya with different city influence features.
You can see that Neku and Shiki, along with the Noise, are already established for the pitch. Emotion Edge’s original design is likely what we have to thank for TWEWY’s heavy ties to musical themes in the Reaper’s Game.

TWEWY:FR - New Psychs
If you’re a gigantic nerd like I am, you may have played The World Ends with You: LIVE Remix during its short-lived run in 2013-14.
One of the more interesting reveals during the big infodump last month was the inclusion of pins from TWEWY:LR included in the Collector’s Edition sticker set. Square has been putting in the work to not let these pin designs fall into obscurity ever since LR closed down; even during the TWEWY ARTNIA campaign during the 7th Anniversary, the very first batch of official TWEWY pins included popular pins from the mobile title.
In some new press materials that went out today, we got a look at new screenshots of various game mechanics, and a highlight in the batch was a look at the Pin Deck and some brand new combat screenshots of new Pins!
Cruel Love’s Fortune is a Press-type activation psych focused on Neku, which releases a circle of swords! It’s effective for taking down enemies at a range in every direction!
Hermit Crab Feather is a Slash-type activation, where you slash Neku and launch him around the screen. He can smash into enemies and pinball off the ‘walls’ of the screen.
Brides Date is a new orb-type psych, activated with a tap like its alternative versions. It will float around the screen and deal damage to all Noise who touch it.
In addition to those highlighted three, you can make out some other new Pins in the decks shown in the screenshots. There are also some more shown here, used as an example when explaining the Deck menu.
What’s interesting about this screenshot is that the second pin in this deck belongs to LIVE Remix’s unique Brand. Along with the large addition of Unbranded pins, TWEWY:LR introduced a 14th Brand called Mithril Scale.
While Shibuya’s 13 major brands made up the pieces of the Chinese Zodiac, and the Cat who was excluded from their pantheon, Mithril Scale was a collection of mythological beasts and supernatural forces, creatures that sat outside of reality’s perceptions. In LIVE Remix, these pins were the best of the best, powerful destructive forces that tore Noise to pieces. They were incredibly hard to obtain, only available through the premium gacha (and only at the highest, rarest tiers) and lesser pins, but still strong, were handed out for free to Players who proved their might in the weekly rankings.
Whether Mithril Scale will retain this notoriety in Final Remix is yet to be seen. Screenshots of the main menu show that Trends still only rank from 1st to 13th, so it’s possible that Mithril Scale pins have been shifted to Unbranded. Either that, or Mithril Scale pins just can’t Trend, which may be a benefit to keeping their powers locked at a certain level.
Translations of the new Pin names are unprofessional and probably not final to the english release.
Best thing ever!
Damn I want the twewy artbook so bad what’re the odds we get an English release of that package
I wouldn’t count on it. I ordered the Japanese one through a personal friend. I don’t know how invested they are in the brand so I’m not super confident. Maybe you’ll get lucky but I’m jumping in on the japanese orders to not miss out.
Last thing for today on the TWEWY nonstop infinite hypetrain, I wanted to note these changes between Hype-chan’s appearance from Shinjuku between the two trailers.
Clearly the Direct version was unfinished, but using it like that did manage to hide some connections we could of made back then, especially now with the extended footage.
Hype-chan here does appear to be leaving Shinjuku, post-explosion. With the longer footage, you can see her eyes glow before the endcard cut of the trailer.
Is it possible that Hype-chan is heading to Shibuya, and isn’t actually our new hero... but a villain? If not herself, then someone influencing her actions?
It will be curious to see how all the characters around play into A NEW DAY. We know Neku and Beat will be present, and Coco is working on something with Sho. It feels like A NEW DAY may still be set within Shibuya (as the new screenshots show them there) and the Shinjuku Explosion may simply be a backdrop for an approaching disaster.
also come on square what’s her goddamn name its been like six years
TWEWY:FR New Media Analysis
So with today’s infodump on the Japanese release date and it’s details we did get a tiny bit more new content to workshop with. So let’s quickly go over these.
Firstly, the trailer gave us a new shot of Hype-chan’s “A NEW DAY”, which we know from the first trailer seems to be Shinjuku’s Reapers Game, and what could be the beginning of the explosion seen in that footage.
Next up, we have two screenshots marked under the ‘New Scenario’ details on the official website for the game:
Shoutout to @pheonyxian and GlancingReverse for these translations. They may not be 100% accurate so don’t take them at complete face value.
Neku: “Come on...” “They started the Reaper’s Game ‘Hard Mode’?”
(Looks like the old crew is involved in the new content in some regard, but are still in Shibuya)
Coco: “Isn’t he a bad guy?”
Neku: “ To me... Here in Shibuya, he's the one I trust the most.”
(Probably talking about Joshua, or maybe even Mr. Hanekoma)
Famitsu’s news post on the game’s announcement today included one minor noteworthy inclusion in this screenshot:
Neku’s phone has some sort of notification icon present. Not sure what existing feature would possibly need to let you know to check it, so it may be tied to some new phone functionality? Either that, or someone’s sending me an ONLINE TIN-PIN MATCH REQUEST???? (come on Square I need this)
Dengeki didn’t have anything of note but they do have this cool black variant of the logo:
