Izzyrambles: cool upper thirds, pastels used for the lower thirds with the most details belonging to the pants, abstraction of the upper thirds is a surprisingly good, especially with the shadow/ghost and the eyeball <3. Use of off-white butterflies throughout the image distorts the perspective further and serves multiple purposes regarding depth and references to anime and motion in general. I want to make something with this color palette for sure, it’s prettier than my ultramarine with lemon yellow palette but using analogous instead of triatic colors

There were some moments in Howl’s that I really enjoyed--Miyazaki includes sexism in ways that sometimes isn’t fully explained or resolved but makes it blatant enough to call out. This movie felt especially magical and fantastical, and although it had a lot to do with secrets, it didn’t feel mysterious. There was an “ugliness” that was always there, but it wasn’t hidden, simply avoided. I might come back to this and try to make a more serious image, but I also loved the fiery and dedicated character of Calcifer. I’d love to eat breakfast with him every day. <3
