“Of course I kicked his ass! He was making fun of my deaf brother.”
“Trust me, I would’ve done the exact same thing.”
I think the number one thing that I find important is the importance of honesty with your friends and your parents, if you can be. But I think that telling people how you really feel, being who you truly are, being safe and taking care of yourself is the most important thing.
“You’re ridiculous,” he decided, a fond laugh dispelling any insult to the words as the elevator doors opened. “After you,” he offered, following her off as they arrived on the twelfth floor of one of the Diamond’s side office. The plan was simply to do a bit of surveillance, hoping to find out if this office, as so many others were, was used to house and hide gang secrets. Rachael’s keen eye knew the tells of a cover-up: the extra security, familiar faces, and the office irregularities. Ashley had requested to come along just for the company, but he was more than ready a willing to snag a prize if one presented itself.
“You say ‘ridiculous’, I say ‘witty’.” Rachael snarked with a grin, the last of her silly humor dying down to be replaced with seriousness. “Thanks,” The redhead said as she stepped off the elevator, emerald hues taking in the area. “So. Let’s get to business.” She murmured, mainly to herself, as she wandered over to a desk, idly flipping through a few papers that were stacked neatly on top. Random business, and at the bottom, blank pages. Hmm. “Not much of a hacker myself...you have any luck in that department, Robin Hood?”
marshalford:
“That’s good.”
Leaning up against a wall, he sighed.
“I just have the feeling more events like this are on their way for New York.”
“You’re right. Although, since I moved here that was the first ‘event’ that has ever happened.” Rachael admitted with a sigh. She wasn't surprised, however. She knew what she was getting herself into. “Seems like New York is a shining beacon for stuff like that, unfortunately.”

“When I look back, I don’t have regrets. In the moment I am really, really hard on myself, I’m definitely my own worst critic and can be my own worst enemy, and I’m trying very hard not to be that.”

Alice laughed amused by her words “Oh me too! trust me, I always watch these action movies where the badass woman just jumps from one car to another or does this back-flips and I wish I could do that…though I guess, if I ever try it, I might look like a flapping cat or something and end up in bed for a week” she shook her head with a grin “Though we can still dream”
But the idea was alluring and for a brief moment Alice wondered if she could ask Wren to give her training lessons..that really sounded fun. At her question about Seattle, Alice nibbled her lips thinking about it “I have to go touristy here and say the space needle of course. It’s sad cos I have been there only once and I just saw the places a tourist generally sees..though personally I think the charm of any place is in it’s alleyways and the quaint old shops. But there is always a second time and now that I have met you, I would definitely ask your opinion before visiting it again”
At the name, Alice’s eyes sparkled with recognition “Ah yes! I have heard about it. My friend is a regular there too and she loves how calm it is as compared to the other cafes and she tells me their cakes are to die for. Is it true?” she asked and held out her hands “Look at us chatting away without even a proper introduction “I’m Alice. It’s very nice to meet you”
Laughing, Rachael felt the exact same way Alice did about the casualties that would come if she fought like a superhero. “I mean I could do it if I was in a harness and on a bungee cord.” Rachael joked.
“The space needle is something I enjoy looking at too, don’t worry. I have a thing for tall buildings.” Talking of home made her miss it, but at the same time Rachael was glad she’d found her calling. “And besides, why wouldn’t you hit the touristy spots your first time going? That’s what they’re meant for.” As Alice continued, Rachael could vividly imagine the alleyways she’d walked down and the quaint old shops she used to stop by. “I would love to create an entire list for you the next time you go. Places to eat, what to see, where to shop. It’ll help my homesickness.”
Nodding in confirmation that the woman’s friend was right, she almost audibly groaned in delight when she thought of the cafe’s cakes. “They’re so good. You’ll have to go and try them. Or I’ll let you know if I get the job and you could get one for free.” Not having realized they hadn’t made introductions, Rachael instantly felt guilty and rude. “Sorry--I’m Rachael, it’s very nice to meet you too.
“I’m looking forward to it too. That’s what I’m here for, after all.” Hallie smiled and ran a hand through her hair. “You can handle it. Getting started is always the hardest, but when you get there, you’ll feel better for it, I can promise you that. How’s next week?”
Rachael wanted to ask more questions, such as how long Hallie had been training people, but thought it was better to ask when the time came. “Hope so. Next week is perfect. Thanks, Hallie. See you then.”
With that, Rachael gave one last smile and turned on her heel to walk out the door.
noraxhatfield:
“Green tea, definitely sweetened.” The blonde confirms with a smile, wondering how people in New York besides the handful she already knew were so nice. It seemed like today may just be turning into her lucky day after all. Plus the ginger seemed friendly enough and everyone knew Nora could use a few more good people on her side. “This may sound weird but I’ve been going through a rough patch lately and well, I could really use some more decent people in my life and you seem beyond friendly.” Nora begins explaining, brushing back a few lose strands of hair from her face. “So I think we should be friends.”
“Got it.” Rachael didn’t need it repeated. Her memory was sharp, one of her prized skills. She was about to turn and go to the counter when the woman’s voice caused her to turn back. “Mm?” A rough patch...Rachael had heard, but didn’t judge based on rumors. She didn’t have any sort of true idea what Nora was going through. “That doesn’t sound weird at all, I understand going through rough patches. I enjoy helping people out.” She replied with a small, knowing smile. Nora’s offer of friendship, however, was surprising. Not in an alarming way, but a pleasant one. Rachael too, could use more friends in her life. “I think we should be friends too.” With that, her small smile grew.
“Is elevator music really your jam, Rachael?” he asked, chuckling slightly at her energy.
“No...but I was thinking, ‘huh, this is a little catchy’ and then realized my body was jamming out.”

“And make sure nothing of this sort happens again too. I mean, I have always wanted to wear a costume like the black widow or wonderwoman and it would be such a badass thing to do!” she said with a grin imagining the field day the paparazzi would have if Alice Diamond actually did something of that sort though she was certain Wren would simply chuckle and praise her on how well the costume looked At her comment about Seattle though, she became curious “In what ways? I have been to Seattle but I have never really lived there and I do like to hear about other places and how life goes on there” she confessed tucking a strand of her hair back. “And I hope you get it. What cafe would that be?” Having worked in cafes before, she knew exactly how much each penny meant and just how tough it could all get and that made her sympathize with the stranger all the more.
Instantly, the image of Sixes in his red jumpsuit was summoned to Rachael’s mind when Alice mentioned always wanting to wear a costume and fight crime. Had she not had the recon training she’d received, the redhead would’ve snickered, mainly because of the image of Sixes and knowing someone who actual dawned a costume and fought crime. Instead, Rachael allowed herself a smile of shared interest. “I’m not gonna lie, I’ve always wanted to do that myself.” She had since discovering Sixes existed, and after establishing contact with him and knowing him, Rachael wanted to do what he did all the more. “I’ve always thought it was badass. Unfortunately, I’m not at all flexible like Black Widow, and I lack in strength. Maybe I’ll find a serum randomly that’ll give me powers.”
“Oh...you know...big city bustling with people prideful of their home. Great food, great places to explore, you learn something new every day. But...I think people in Seattle are much more polite. Much more relaxed too. What did you like about it when you visited there?” She asked curiously, interested that someone here knew her home. “Thanks, I could use the spending money. It’s called ‘Abraço Espresso’. I’ve been so many times they know my usual.”
