For the finale of #BlackWomeninSTEMWeek we are highlighting #STEMStyleSunday. #MySTEMStyle consists of being an avid traveler, concert goer, and friend. It’s classy, bougie, and ratchet. It may not look like the stereotypes because the stereotypes never envisioned a Black woman with 3 engineering degrees let alone depicting one. So here’s your example - from the poor projects of DC to a professor, just know that yes, you little Black girl, young Black woman, and even seasoned Black women can make an impact and be the image you don’t commonly see. I've been holding on to this all day but I'm ecstatic to share that my first grant proposal got FUNDED (and legit the first one I've ever written)! My first year as a professor has been interesting to say the least but this was a great way to wrap up Y1. I'm so excited to work with my friend and colleaguesb(Trina Fletcher and Nicki Sochacka) on this important work, gathering the experiences of underrepresented engineering students during the pandemic.
