This is where I want to be hanging out right this second! We designed this custom hanging day bed for one of my favorite projects at the beach in Mexico. xxxRH
Gramercy Park Hotel...the design, art collection and intimate vibe make it one of my favorite places to go and have drinks when I'm in the city. xxxRH
The Standard Miami
My favorite yet. xxxRH
Love this 70's take on the sunburst design. And especially love it when you get form AND function - the application of the design is so cool and it's a door!
Sculptural lighting is ALWAYS GOOD!
Wooden slats on floor, walls, and ceiling. Example where MORE IS MORE works perfectly.
Glowing dining area - the kind of lighting that makes everyone look great.
Standard High Line
Still so good! xxxRH
Cool vibe in lobby. I'm in love with the bean bag-inspired leather seating for grown ups!
Form and function...ceramic art as a screen.
Love these glowing cylinders floating on the dark ceiling.
La Calaca Festival 2013
La Calaca Festival in San Miguel is a four-day arts and culture festival during the Day of the Dead celebrations in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. It's a community-based, participatory art event like Burning Man and this year's art, music and events were unbelievable. xxxRH

Day of the Dead Altars
Just back from San Miguel where we hung out with friends at the La Calaca Festival and celebrated Day of the Dead -- one of my favorite holidays. A celebration of life and death on November 1-2 when the spirits of the departed return to earth to be with their families. Every year we make a family altar. The altars honor the dead with sugar skulls, marigolds, photographs, bread, toys, food and drinks. All sorts of symbolic offerings. It's such a cool tradition because it's so personal and we are celebrating our loved ones in this fun way rather than mourning them. Also because of what always matters the most...how it looks! The altars around town and inside the homes are beautiful. Colorful pieces used to create one are striking and the creativity is inspiring. Here are some pics of the traditional pieces used to make an altar, some amazing altars around San Miguel and the one we made for our family. xxxRH
