Man, Good Omens Season One USED to be my favorite version of Good Omens (if only for the basic-ass reason that I love Crowley and Aziraphale and this is the most Crowley-and-Aziraphale-centric version of GO) and I don't want to let GO3 take away the joy I gave me and can still give me. But like… the Fruit of Knowledge (of how shitty NG's vision for 'Good Omens' would go on to be) cannot be unbitten and I keep seeing Bad Omens for the future everywhere…
Today I just can't stop thinking about how NG kept going on and on about how he had to stick as closely to the book as he possibly could to preserve ✨Terry's Vision✨ UWU to justify stuff like keeping the Answering Machine bit entirely as it was despite it being Pretty Weird for Modern Very-Up-With-the-Times Anthony J. Crowley to keep a tape-based answering machine at his house for some reason…
But then, like, when it comes to undoing deaths and preventing any causalities relating to Armageddon on even an indirect level, making sure 'no one died just because Adam was born', something Pterry has said in interviews was very thematically important to him…
NG didn't just cut a bunch of the revival confirmation moments, he also added deaths that weren't in the book! Like this Chattering Nun (and maybe more)…
And this tiny random demon in the TV-Exclusive Trial Scene.
(And you can argue, also Ligur. He never got a Confirmed Revival in the Book, but he wasn't Confirmed Dead like in the TV Version).
At the time it didn't bother me that much, like, villains killing innocents in a fantasy adventure is pretty standard (…okay, the tiny random demon DID bother me, but not cause he died in general, but because Hell being so blasé about killing other Demons with Holy Water seems to contradict the Book saying what Crowley did was a huge moral taboo even for exceptionally cruel Demons like Hastur and Ligur but that's kind of it's own discussion I did elsewhere), but now… Knowing what Terry said about it and knowing where NG decided to take the story next, it does kinda pisses me off…
