hi! carey means needs help still - he's the voice actor for frylock in aqua teen hunger force! adult swim screwed him badly and pays no residuals and barely paid him during the show's run. he has heart failure and survives on con earnings, plushie sales, and donations while waiting for disability to get back to him. posts used to make the rounds for him, but haven't in a while, so i wanted to make a new post!
if you'd rather buy a plushie - here's the shop he and his wife run!
update: CAREY MEANS AND HIS WIFE ARE HOMELESS AS OF A FEW DAYS AGO
his wife also been in an accident and has been down and out due to illness and injury

I've never met them, only watched and enjoyed their content, but when I started reading statements about the situation, something clicked in my writer's brain. What follows is an analysis from a fan, not necessarily what actually happened behind the scenes (obviously I don't know more than anyone else since details haven't been published).
In season 2 of SBK, Avid's storyline involved finding a way back to his original universe and overcome the trauma received from his cruel father. Marm's involved creating matter from nothing. In creating matter, Marm accidentally created life in the form of Massey, a hivemind creature whose goal was to assimilate and obtain more mass. Avid and Marm became its first thralls, doing Massey's bidding and tricking other players into being assimilated. Several Skyheads formed a resistance and was able to break their connection to Massey, and Avid and Marm teleported to different realms until they get to a white void. In Avid's finale, not!Marm says that he's going to choose to go home, while in Marm's video, not!Avid says that she's going to choose to stay. Avid does indeed go home, builds a portal gun, and sends his jerk father to skyblock, taking over for him at DoakTech. There's a little moment just before he confronts his father between Avid and the receptionist where he acts like a jerk to her.
Until recently, that was a well-crafted story of a man willing to do anything to face his father, and in the process became a tragic character who instead of breaking the cycle of cruelty followed in his father's footsteps. It still is that, but now it's also a story of a couple who realized they had influence over their friends, and chose to use that influence to amass more power until their friends clumped together and stopped it before it could get much worse.
My heart goes out to those affected. No one deserves what was done to them, and they deserve our support. They just lost two friends they've had for years, and that's a hard thing to experience.
And stay safe everyone!
we DO grow old and happy. btw.
And you find love and it stays with you.
Older women are so, so beautiful, and older trans women are no exception. Celebrate the beauty of our elders! Celebrate trans beauty!
I wanted to share some more of these, specifically trans women of color. The images I'm posting are from a project called To Survive On This Shore and it's an interview project. I am only posting a handful so it's so worth checking out!
This is Linda, 60
Alexis, 64
Helena, 63
Kendrah, 72 (!!)
Tasha, 65
It was deeply healing to me to discover this project. The site has selected photos and attached interviews and it's definitely worth your time. I didn't include any because the focus of this post imo is transfems but there are a lot of beautiful interviews with transmasc people too if you're interested! But that'll have to be another post 💖

Two seemingly contradictory beliefs that we actually must strive to hold simultaneously:
You don't owe anyone anything
Meaning: you do not have to make yourself suffer for the convenience of others
We owe each other everything
Meaning: we could not survive without each other and everything we do to help another is crucial to ensuring our own continued survival
You don't need to be a doormat, but also don't get comfortable slamming the door when you have the resources to extend a hand instead.
Just an fyi about your bmi post, many doctors are starting to move to waist to height ratio, which monitors visceral fat (the real killer, which anyone of any bmi can have an unhealthy amount of) and general health promoting habits, instead of just bmi
just an fyi, doctors have developed their phrenology a bit and are finding new ways to justify telling fat patients to lose weight instead of treating them like are you fucking serious
such absolute bullshit. people distribute fat differently. there is literally no one size fits all method of determining "health". because what is bmi if not just a shield for doctors to hide behind and deny you care? there are no "normal" people. no one is the ideal "average" and once again this is a completely useless tool for the vast majority of the population
Size does not determine health. Size does not determine health. Size does not determine health. Measuring it differently does not change the fact that size does not determine health.
And also, unhealthy people still need actual health care from their doctors, not a lecture. Fuck this shit on so many levels.
number one thing i want for public bathrooms is for them to be unisex accessible safe private and clean. number two thing i want for pubic bathrooms is for them to have flat surfaces in the stalls you can put your handheld items down on when youre shittin. ive encountered it in like two bathrooms ever and it changed my life for real.
I'm here, I'm queer, my joint pain is moderate to severe.
Hello, Emily. This is Adam Driver. I came across your blog in my free time today and it pained me greatly to find a post you made recently calling me ugly and, I quote, “garbage”. I began to cry, because I have anxiety about my appearance. You have truly hurt an innocent 30 or 40 year old man who wants nothing more than to act and be happy. I hope you consider your actions in the future, as I am still crying because of you. Thank you, and goodbye.

Repost, now do your honors.
Trans people just existing is no more sexual than when cis people just exist.
I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.
and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.
everybody say thank you ao3

IF YOU SEE THIS DO NOT TAKE THIS SURVEY. THIS IS A BAD FAITH STUDY TARGETING TRANS YOUNG PEOPLE FROM SOME OF THE LEADING MINDS OF THE ANTI TRANS MOVEMENT. DO NOT TAKE AT ALL.
Alright now that it’s not the middle of the night let me add some more context: All leading researchers of this study—J. Michael Bailey of Northwestern University, Lisa Littman, and Kenneth Zucker—have longstanding professional associations with research frameworks that challenge or reject gender-affirming models of care. Many trans-led organizations, advocates, and researchers are urging families NOT to participate in this study, as the data collected will be skewed to promote false and harmful narratives about trans people, and will be weaponized by lawmakers looking to pass discriminatory bills.
(Information above from PFLAG National)
Bailey has spent the last 20+ years of his professional career attacking the Trans community — he has been accused of misconduct MULTIPLE times around not getting informed consent for the research he does.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD THEY ARE BLAZING THEIR POST TRYING TO REACH THE QUEER COMMUNITY ON TUMBLR.
