When you associate something with a name, it often remains exactly attached the memory you make of it. And once you leave this person, place, thing alone, if often ceases to adapt to your own life. Stuck in a purgatory of the past, you can often recall the good times, the best times, and all positive memories associated with it even though this thing has now changed. 

We are left reminiscing the past and and in this way, we can never really move forward, or advance.

And everyone you encounter attaches a different meaning to those people and places and things, that everything around you is unknown to others, and fleeting.

what you have seen, you cannot forget

but there is a feeling left lingering on you

of the city you haven’t seen

but that lives within the walls, the lake, and the people

you know them

you have seen their real siblings

but

they are leading different

unique lives

mirrored lives

should we dive in and join them

or release them to be free in our reality

or is it theirs?

Trading Cities 1-5

she saw me glance

as did I

but our movements would not tell

my heart became hers,

the girl with the parasol

I tried to call out, but kept moving forward

her gaze penetrated my back, with out her head turning

I knew of our desire, and our needs

but to want from afar is still more pleasurable

than to be deceived at face

and that is why my many loves 

have passed without causing sorrow and hate

Thin Cities 1-5

The duality offered by these cities is a poor, but realistic representation of the world we live in. We are often stuck seeing black and white, disregarding the idea of a gray, the in between or the middle. Torn and forced to think that the other is not correct, we see them unable to waver in opinion and often further ourselves from agreement. But when we are able to meld the two realities together, we can achieve a more cohesive understanding of the world. 

This can be paralleled in our choices. We can lead lives filled with temporary emotions, or work towards a more permanent feeling. We often can get lost into thinking that this enjoyment, however fleeting is something that we need, and forget to see that you can take a bit of this and that to create a more fulfilled life.

paths, options, unknowns

cities and desire 1-5

Desire drives your path in life, your decisions and options become blinded by your heavy needs and wants. Is it necessary? Probably not, but these desires push us forward. They drive the evolution of art, and tempt your imagination to recall that perfect world you ache to be a part of. 

It’s hard to drive your life solely through these wants, they paths you encounter often have nothing to do with what you seek, and it is up to you to carve out this option to pursue these desires and veer into the unknown where so often the reward isn’t how you imagined. But do you stop? NO. You continue to seek that optimal life you imagined for yourself.

But there is a fine balance to all this. It is great to be following your dreams, but when the overshadow your reality, making you left in an unhealthy tangled world where your desires are the root of the mess in your life, it would probably be a good time to step back and rethink your path.

cities and memories 1-5

Your memories shape the future you will encounter, with the past being made of an untold perfection or extreme. It was the best, the worst, but never okay. There was never an in between for your memories.  As you go into your current present, your memories alter your experience. 

Those who can capture their memories, their experiences in the exact way that they occurred are often going to be the most intelligent; they have control over their emotions and thoughts. These people are few and rare, and more often they tend to be those pretending to be in touch with an undiluted past, unable to move on. They may know of their perfect memory and be able to recall it, yet they can never escape it, soon the past takes over their reality.

But we forget to recognize that this past we have and the future we make is created through the present and though the connections created through all these thoughts are numerous and help us comprehend, they are new and unique experiences, and ultimately will take whatever shape in our memory as we allow them.
