MATTHEW LILLARD SENSELESS (1998)
you wouldn’t expect someone like fletcher ‘fletch’ knox a 53 year-old radio host, to turn heads walking into the gas station on main, but there’s something about them that makes you look twice. maybe it’s the new balance 993 tracking in dust from the outskirts, or the sharp ringtone blaring you and who's army? by radiohead when their phone lights up. they say their favorite movie is twilight zone (1983) and they’ve got the kind of face (think matthew lillard) that locals swear they’ve seen before. when pressed, they describe themselves in fragments: moleskin notebooks filled with sketches, coordinates and erratic journal entries ; a portable radio scanner always switched on ; a corkboard filled with conspiracies, old newspaper clippings and lots of red string ; an analog tape record consisting of many conspiratorial ramblings. and for the record? the thing they won’t talk about, ▇▇▇▇, is probably the reason they haven’t left yet.
