The last place the Host had thought he'd find himself was at somebody else's house, let alone Marion's.

However, there he was, having been forced to stay with the other for the night due to the raging thunderstorm outside. He'd originally met with him to speak about something business-related (and partially just to spend some time with someone other than himself), though unexpectedly found himself stuck there, having silently cursed himself for not making sure of the weather beforehand.

It'd been nice enough to let the man sleep over (not without having Host re-dress his eyes, of course. He didn't want to get blood over her nice couch after all), seeing as the storm obviously wasn't going to let up until morning at the latest. He was definitely grateful he hadn't been made to walk home in the rain.

Unfortunately, however, of course that night of all nights would be one of the harder ones for him. One of the nights he found himself plagued by a sleep terror or a nightmare and of course one of the nights he wakes with a start, hyperventilating hard as he tries to bite back sobs as not to risk waking anybody.

“Can’t sleep?” Marion’s voice echoed softly. It was facing the large atrium window zt the front of the living room, seated in a plush armchair. An arm was propped on one of the armrests for the entity to rest his head on. “I can’t either. This all interferes with it.” He waved his free hand around, and as if in cue, a bolt of lightning flashed through the inky black sky. The reality was that Marion didn’t need to sleep at all to function properly; still, the lightning was messing with his aura and giving him a headache. His powers weren’t working well, either.

She tilted her head towards Circe and asked, “What are your night terrors about? …Discussing them might help with the strain.” Marion wasn’t typically this nice, but Host was a cordial guest and had behaved himself, so she figured she could treat him to a little openness.

"What--?" Circe quickly turns his head to look in Marion's general direction (or, so he guessed based on its voice, seeing as he himself was already so shaken up his own abilities had decided to fail on him), still breathing quite heavy as he pulls the blanket he'd been given closer to himself.

"He didn't.. realize Marion was awake- how long has he been there?.." He whispers softly through the confusion, bringing a hand up to run through his hair as if to ground himself a little, "..he's not sure that's something Marion would be too interested in hearing- he apologizes if he was any bother."

Noting the man’s discomfort and confusion seeping into his aura, Marion assured, “I have not been watching you sleep, if that’s what you’re wondering.” The entity teleported from his chair to in front of the window, hands held behind its back.

“Would you like to know a ‘nightmare’ I have?” Marion turned towards Host again and took a step towards him. “Would that make you feel more comfortable in sharing your own?”

He's not fully sure whether to trust Marion or not, and even more confused about why the entity was being so hospitable towards him in the first place. Trying to shove the slight insecurity to the back of his head, however, he gives a small huff as he shifts a little to sit up more comfortably.

Despite his remaining hesitance, he hadn't had much of a reason not to trust Marion, figuring even then it may help if anything, "..Okay. Yeah, maybe."

Marion nodded and crossed its arms. “It’s a recurring nightmare. I…” She had a slight moment of hesitation. This was a private thing to say out in the open, but there was no turning back now. “I am out in a forest. It’s winter, and all of the trees are barren. I chop down a tree and tie it to a log. I drag it back to my cabin. All of a sudden, I am watching myself step through the door and speak to… whoever I am.” With a snap of his finger, the armchair he was previously siting in appears right behind him. He sits down and continues, “I go back into my body and freshen up for bed, but when I look in the mirror, a skull looks back at me. A burnt, broken, oozing skull.” The entity’s mouth draws into a tight, straight line after it mentioned that. “Then I wake up.”

Marion met Host’s (eyeless) gaze and asked with a slightly teasing grin, “Was that nightmarish enough for you?”

Despite Host's unsureness at first, he listens to Marion with interest. He's not sure whether it's because of the vulnerability the entity was expressing by opening up to him, or genuine, slightly morbid curiosity about the story.

"That's.. quite a sight, I'd imagine.." Is all he hums out at first, though he's otherwise expressionless as he grasps his bearings again. He shook his head a little bit as if he'd zoned out, looking up to Marion. The thought of the entity experiencing nightmares honestly hadn't even crossed his mind either, they were so.. well put-together anytime he saw it. Though, he supposed despite its formal exterior and overall appearance, it had struggles of its own.

He's not sure how to respond, if there was a proper way, "..I'm sorry you deal with those."

Christian hated going to public spaces alone. He usually had a bodyguard or a colleague trailing him, but tonight was different. He needed to be away from all that and go to one of his favorite places: an upscale restaurant in the city with a decked-out bar to match. Here the actor was, seated on a barstool in a tight t-shirt and jeans, jacket over his legs, looking absolutely dire. Not only had his work been incredibly demanding of him, but his powers were acting up too. It was draining him of his energy and tonight he simply needed to unwind.

Circe himself rarely left his secluded cabin, the hustle and bustle of regular society already overwhelming for him outside of much he stood out in the first place. Though, for the first time in months (and after quite a few less than pleasurable conversations about people telling him to get out more), they found themselves sitting at one of the far corners of the bar, scribbling in a notebook he'd brought with him.

Of course, he tried his best to remedy his usual problems to the best of his ability, having decided to change up his wear and even bring headphones in an attempt to drown out some of the constant noise. He'd brushed his hair in a way that it fell over his face, just enough to conceal the bandages, along with wearing a beanie and hoodie.

He knew he still kind of stood out against the people here in their formal wear, though he didn't seem to mind as much as being the creep with blood running down his cheeks.

“What’ll it be, Cruz?” the bartender asked. The actor across from her had been running a hand through his hair as a nervous habit, and he paused when he was asked the question. Typically he would order a tequila sunrise or something fruity, but tonight he wanted something strong. Something to knock him out, really.

Even though he had an idea of his drink for the night, he didn’t know what specifically to order. The chalkboard menu on the wall was blending together into blobs of shapes and colors. “I don’t know,” he said weakly to the bartender which made her face screw up in confusion.

Turning his head, Christian noticed another patron sitting on the other side of the bar. Strangely, they were the only two people seated here. He wondered if they could help him out. He would never do this, but he was exhausted and annoyed and didn’t want to do much of anything. As a last-ditch effort, he called to the patron and said, “Hey. You like strong drinks?”

At first, Circe hadn't even noticed the man come up to the counter next to him, though lifted his head as he did notice the bartender move to speak to Christian. He closes the book in front of him, tucking his thumb under the page as not to lose his place as he looked up to Christian.

With his other hand, Circe moved one of his headphones off his ear to allow him to hear again better, cocking his head, "Ah, uh.. he— I suppose so? Why?"

As soon as he saw a bit of cloth peeking out from under the other guy’s hair, a sense of recognition passed through Christian. “Wait.” He pointed to them and remarked, “I know you. You’re… Host, right?” Yeah, it was unmistakable. The dark hair with light streaks, the bloody, stained cloth around his eyes, the style of clothing a grandpa would wear - they all matched what he knew of the man. They hadn’t talked much in the past, but maybe he could weasel a free drink out of the guy.

A bit of his usual self was revived in the presence of an acquaintance. Christian grinned his usual sly grin and took on a more relaxed pose at the bar. He beckoned towards Circe and said, “Yeah. Host. Bim Trimmer has told me all about you. Why don’t we drink together?”

Host tenses a little at just how easily Christian is able to recognize him. He thought he'd done a pretty good job— though he supposed he didn't account for running into somebody who actually knew him.

"—Mr. Trimmer? Really? That's.. well, that's strange, but yeah. I've not heard him mention having any business partners," He hums out curiously, though slightly suspicious at the same time. The man felt.. off, though otherwise didn't feel like a threat, especially in such a public space.

He sighs, deciding to fully close his book as he ran his hand through his hair, "..Sure, one couldn't hurt."

Host’s slight moment of hesitation delighted Christian. He reveled in being intimidating, off-putting. To show it, he put on his award-winning smile and tried to not look as disheveled as he felt on the inside.

“No, no, I’m not a business partner, my friend. We’re just, ah, close.” He looked down at his outfit and chuckled ruefully. “And if he were here, he would be chewing me out for being so informal, I bet. But I needed to get out of the suits I always wear, so… casual it is.” He turned his attention again to Host as they sat down next to him. “How do you and Bim know each other?”

"..That's Mr. Trimmer, I guess," Host mutters out at first, gesturing vaguely to the bartender to order the two of them drinks. He looks back to Christian as he picked up his book, dropping it into the bag next to him, "We're friends. Sometimes I fill out favors for him in return, if it suits us both."

He sits up a bit straighter, a bit more alert. He didn't feel necessarily afraid of Christian, no, but he knew better than to let his guard down so early after just meeting the man. At least a drink or two would be able to calm his nerves, he supposed.

"Close how, if it's not too prying?"

I should watch what I say, the actor thought. He ran a finger around the rim of his newly acquired highball glass and mused, “Well, Bim and I shared a production studio when we were both young upstarts in entertainment. We bonded over our shared experiences - both past and present - and the friendship escalated from there. We get very busy nowadays, but when we find time to see each other, we’re like two peas in a pod!” Christian replied cheerfully. Talking always boosted his mood, even with strangers, and he could tell his mood was improving by the second. “We’re real tight-knit, him and I.”

He took a swig of his drink and grimaced slightly at how strong his drink really was. “Wow. That is potent…!”

"So you've known each other for quite a while, huh?.. quite strange he hasn't mentioned you at all. Suppose it's none of my business to pry who he spends his time with, however," he's genuinely curious about the man's ties to Bim, though he wishes he knew if his intentions were pure or not.

Host smiles a little at Christian's reaction at first, before he does the same in mirror and has to try hard not to give off the same reaction, clearing his throat afterwards as he set the glass down, "..Yeah, little bit."

This was awful. Marion hadn’t felt this way about someone in years. Decades, even. It was foreign. Sitting on this picnic blanket next to Circe was like torment. As it turned towards the man, he was struck by his beauty which only compounded his embarrassment. The man next to him looked almost ethereal under the glow of the moon and stars above him despite the bloody blindfold around his eyes and slightly messy hair. Marion wasn’t exactly composed itself, wearing a simple polo and khakis, so it could see past these imperfections.

It smiled to itself, a dark gray blush creeping onto its cheeks. It was so lucky to have Circe as a… friend? Was he a friend to Marion at this point? Probably not.

The Host — Circe, around Marion, he supposes — is strangely silent as he's sit comfortably next to the entity, the only sounds around them in the moment of peaceful silence being the gentle wind and soft sound of crickets this time of the night.

Despite how much he himself enjoyed the rare moment, however, they can't help but feel overwhelmed by the entity sitting so close to him.. though, unable to point out to even themselves why (because it certainly wasn't negative, which in it of itself was such an alien feeling to him). Circe lifts his head again to subtly face it as he felt their eyes on him however, feeling his own cheeks heat up and he swears he can feel his heart beating faster.

Marion whipped his head away from his friend upon their eyes meeting. If his heart still worked, he knew it would be beating frantically. Had he been blushing like this for a while? Jeez, that’s so humiliating.

Was it humiliating, or was it… love? He didn’t know. As his hand balled up into a fist and scrunched a bit of the blanket beneath him, hw took a deep breath in and out. Love. It was love. And that was the most frightening revelation of all.

He had been feeling this way for weeks. It had to come out sometime. “…Host.” Marion mustered up the courage to turn back towards Circe. “I…” But suddenly, the words he wanted to say caught in his throat. He couldn’t get anything out. His tongue was tied. He realized that all he wanted to do was to kiss this guy.

He pauses in surprise to the otherwise stoic entity's embarrassed reaction, silently wondering what that was about. Marion didn't get embarrassed — at least not that he'd ever witnessed. He tried hard not too read too much into its actions and emotions in the first place (seeing as trying to do so seemed to always lead to a pounding migraine compared to normal people), though he can't help but worry if he'd done something to cause it. She didn't seem upset?

As if he could feel the other's anxiousness wafting off of him though, Circe can't help but tilt his head a little in concern, even shifting a little to sit closer to Marion as he looked up to it, "—Are you alright?" he finally speaks up.

It was now or never.

In one swift movement, Marion leaned forward, clutched Circe’s face in two rough hands, and kissed his lips. As soon as their lips connected, Marion’s aberration flickered around her, but not from any sort of negative feeling - it was a rare positive emotion that made it flicker and even glow brighter.

Was Circe kissing back? God, she hoped so. When she pulled back after what felt like hours, her face flushed and breathless, all she could do was stare at Circe for their reaction. She felt like running, getting out of here, but… she didn’t. She wanted to be here with them.

Circe tenses up at first with the feeling of Marion's hands on his face and its lips pressed against his, freezing with the shock at first. Was this actually happening?? I mean, Marion? He figured affection was the last thing the entity would've felt towards him, let alone..

As it subsides, however, he brought a hand up to rest over Marion's as if to encourage the hold or even keep it there, his own face burning bright as he returns the kiss. He idly ran his thumb over the rough feeling of the other's hand affectionately, and as she finally pulls away his face is impossibly redder as he has to catch his own breath.

"..Holy shit."

Marion’s hands flew up to its own face, letting out the slightest whine. Its eyes darted away from Circe and warbled out, “That was so forward… I just…” It let out a sigh again and said more steadily, “This is probably a big shock, I know, but… I think I love you, Circe. I haven’t felt this way in a very long time, but I can’t mistake it or hide it anymore.” Marion’s hands went from its face to hold Host’s hands. It looked directly at them, heart swelling, and added, “You understand me in a way no one else really has. I… I would be honored to have you by my side.”

He feels his heart skip a beat with the words, absolutely speechless at first as if he physically couldn't believe what he was hearing — especially coming from Marion, of all people. Then again, of course it'd be him of all people to literally take Circe's breath away.

"..Yes— yeah, I—" He can only stammer out at first with the struggle to properly string his words together, though he seems to finally give up as it melts into a giddy, genuine laugh. Circe brings his hands up to rest over Marion's face, pulling it closer to him to press their foreheads together as he smiles with a shaking breath.

Marion pulled away slightly to be heard better. “Honestly, I didn’t think I would ever love again. That we would,” he muttered. “Things can always change, I suppose.”

He held Circe in that hug for quite a long time. They smelled of the woods, and it was a surprisingly comforting scent. After finally pulling away, he grinned and said with a giggle, “Oh my, what do we do now?”

He himself had seemed to lose track of how long he'd been in Marion's hold, his head silent for once as he listened to its rhythmic breathing, the rise and fall of her chest. He couldn't describe it as less than pure contentment is what he felt in those moments.

This was awful. Marion hadn’t felt this way about someone in years. Decades, even. It was foreign. Sitting on this picnic blanket next to Circe was like torment. As it turned towards the man, he was struck by his beauty which only compounded his embarrassment. The man next to him looked almost ethereal under the glow of the moon and stars above him despite the bloody blindfold around his eyes and slightly messy hair. Marion wasn’t exactly composed itself, wearing a simple polo and khakis, so it could see past these imperfections.

It smiled to itself, a dark gray blush creeping onto its cheeks. It was so lucky to have Circe as a… friend? Was he a friend to Marion at this point? Probably not.

The Host — Circe, around Marion, he supposes — is strangely silent as he's sit comfortably next to the entity, the only sounds around them in the moment of peaceful silence being the gentle wind and soft sound of crickets this time of the night.

Despite how much he himself enjoyed the rare moment, however, they can't help but feel overwhelmed by the entity sitting so close to him.. though, unable to point out to even themselves why (because it certainly wasn't negative, which in it of itself was such an alien feeling to him). Circe lifts his head again to subtly face it as he felt their eyes on him however, feeling his own cheeks heat up and he swears he can feel his heart beating faster.

Marion whipped his head away from his friend upon their eyes meeting. If his heart still worked, he knew it would be beating frantically. Had he been blushing like this for a while? Jeez, that’s so humiliating.

Was it humiliating, or was it… love? He didn’t know. As his hand balled up into a fist and scrunched a bit of the blanket beneath him, hw took a deep breath in and out. Love. It was love. And that was the most frightening revelation of all.

He had been feeling this way for weeks. It had to come out sometime. “…Host.” Marion mustered up the courage to turn back towards Circe. “I…” But suddenly, the words he wanted to say caught in his throat. He couldn’t get anything out. His tongue was tied. He realized that all he wanted to do was to kiss this guy.

He pauses in surprise to the otherwise stoic entity's embarrassed reaction, silently wondering what that was about. Marion didn't get embarrassed — at least not that he'd ever witnessed. He tried hard not too read too much into its actions and emotions in the first place (seeing as trying to do so seemed to always lead to a pounding migraine compared to normal people), though he can't help but worry if he'd done something to cause it. She didn't seem upset?

As if he could feel the other's anxiousness wafting off of him though, Circe can't help but tilt his head a little in concern, even shifting a little to sit closer to Marion as he looked up to it, "—Are you alright?" he finally speaks up.

In one swift movement, Marion leaned forward, clutched Circe’s face in two rough hands, and kissed his lips. As soon as their lips connected, Marion’s aberration flickered around her, but not from any sort of negative feeling - it was a rare positive emotion that made it flicker and even glow brighter.

Was Circe kissing back? God, she hoped so. When she pulled back after what felt like hours, her face flushed and breathless, all she could do was stare at Circe for their reaction. She felt like running, getting out of here, but… she didn’t. She wanted to be here with them.

Circe tenses up at first with the feeling of Marion's hands on his face and its lips pressed against his, freezing with the shock at first. Was this actually happening?? I mean, Marion? He figured affection was the last thing the entity would've felt towards him, let alone..

As it subsides, however, he brought a hand up to rest over Marion's as if to encourage the hold or even keep it there, his own face burning bright as he returns the kiss.
