It's been a while since I did an illustration, but I was really inspired to do Judge Aquilina's portrait after seeing her reaction to Nasser's letter. This trial was emotionally impactful for me, not just because of how horrible the whole thing was, but because #MeToo. Another rose has been added to my list of Heroines. 🌹 156 are shown here, representing each woman who stood up and spoke during the hearing.
I had a tech difficulty towards the end of this illustration, consider this a WIP, there is more I’d like to do with it.
A muse kept telling me I was The Fool, knowing nothing about Tarot, I refused to listen. What a mean muse to say such a thing. But after much persistence, I gave in and looked it up... The description was very fitting, so I let that pesty muse in and drew this.
"Her approach to life is a strange, unconventional one, because she does what is comfortable to her. This is a viewpoint not often supported in our modern world, in which "do as I say" is the commandment most followed. To those who have lived their life under this philosophy, the approach of the Fool may be extravagant, shocking, even frightening. But this approach is all that the Fool knows, and because the only approval she requires is her own, she will continue to live this way, despite what all others think of her. She has total faith in herself. Perhaps she is not such a fool after all.
The Fool does not hide herself from the light, because she is the light - the wonderful light that shines out of every child before they see the world and are forced to build so many walls and barriers to protect themselves. The innocence of a child, sadly, is something rarely found outside of children, even though a lot of people could use it these days. With this innocence comes perfect trust, fearlessness in others, and total self-reliance. It allows you to see the world with new eyes and learn new things every day of your life."
My friend snapped this picture on Lake Superior, he managed to get a sighting of the Minnesota Lake Dragon who came to visit.
My D&D Character Valya (Blind Tiefling Monk) and her seeing-eye ferret Henduya. She wears a robe of eyes, so she actually has the best sight out of everyone in the party.
