it’s cool if you don’t - rafe cameron
summary: confessing your feelings to your best friend is hard.
warning: she/her, fem!reader, cursing
an: I wrote this in 2023 & finally finished & polished it a bit. It’s was inspired by it’s still cool if you don’t by briston maroney. It’s short & sweet! Hope you enjoy <3
This was stupid.
It definitely wasn’t the right time to drop a bomb like this.
All these thoughts rattled her brain like a pin ball machine. But it felt like if she didn’t do it now or soon she could miss out.
“But it’s cool if you don’t,” she shrugged trying to act nonchalant. Like she didn’t feel like her life was just flipped upside down. Wishing she could shove her words back into her mouth and sew it shut.
His lips turned up into a playful smirk. He looked like a puppy when he tilted his head slightly. Blue eyes examining her nervous demeanor. He knew her too well and he had been waiting for so long.
“Really? It’s cool if I don’t?” His tone didn’t come off harsh or mean. It was almost playful, a glint of something she couldn’t quite place in his eye.
She huffed a laugh, “Yeah I mean I don’t want to like ruin anything. So like yeah it’s cool. We can just ya know,” You shrugged clearing your throat. Everything around you was suddenly much more interesting to look at because his eyes were becoming too much. Especially since she was pretty sure she was about to get rejected. Then he did the worst possible thing he could do.
Rafe laughed.
Like whole heartedly laughed.
Now she wasn’t nervous or feeling self pity. She was mad. Very mad. He could have rejected her politely but he had the audacity to laugh. She was going to kill him.
She smacked his arm yelling at him, “What’s wrong with you!”
“Hey!” He laughed as she hit him again and tried shoving him towards the ocean a few times. But obviously he didn’t budge. He loved when she got mad because she looked adorable.
“You don’t fucking laugh at a girl when she confesses her feelings asshole!” She continued to yell.
Rafe scoffed, “Excuse me, you made me think you were like,” He moved his hands around like he was trying to find the right word, “friend dumping me. I thought I was being friend dumped.”
She looked at him with a scowl, “What the fuck Cameron.”
“You literally dragged me out to the ocean in the middle of a party going on about how you have something serious to tell me and then you start off apologizing for ruining the friendship,” He crosses his arms over his chest trying not to laugh as the adorable scowl on her face that just deepened with every word he spoke. He wanted to reach out and pinch her cheeks but he knew that would make her even more mad.
She stuck her finger pointedly at him, “This is not the ocean,” She pointed at the waves crashing a yard away from them, “That’s the ocean. We are on the sand.”
He shook his head as his grin widened, “Always with the technicalities huh?”
“Well yeah! Rafe I wasn’t going to friend dump you idiot,” She scoffed.
He held his hands up with a cocky smirk, “Excuse me for not being able to read your mind.”
“You know forget it if you’re just gonna joke about this then whatever forget it,” She began to stomp away to look for a quiet place to cry.
He reached out and grabbed her wrist before she could get too far, “Hey, it’s not a joke to me.”
Her furrowed brows softened as a small frown formed on her lips getting herself ready for the rejection. His hand on her wrist was starting to feel like it was burning her skin. She didn’t want him touching her if he’s just going to say he wants to stay friends. The comfort of his touch was just a painful reminder of what will never be more.
“I don’t think it’d be cool if I lied and said I’m not completely enamored with you,” Rafe’s thumb rubbed small circles on the inside of her wrist.
Her eyes softened and did that doe eyed thing that gets Rafe to do anything she wants, “Really?” It was pathetic how fast he could win her over again.
He nodded a sincere smile appearing, “Why do you think I’ve been flirting with you for the last five years.”
She rolled her eyes, “Rafe you’ve literally been with other girls.”
“Okay that was only during my low moments when I thought there was no chance of us,” He defended.
“Why did you never say anything?”
“The same reason it probably took you this long to tell me. I was scared of losing you completely.”
She sighed, “Cameron you’re the flirtiest person in the world how was I supposed to know that it was more than just your personality.”
He scoffed playfully, “Sweetheart I do not flirt with everyone. Have I ever called another person sweetheart and helped them move out of their dorm on the other side of the country?”
She groaned, “No but-“
He interrupted, “Or driven in the middle of a hurricane to pick them up so they’re not stuck alone all night. Or know their order from every restaurant in town. Or-“
“Okay! I get it!” She exclaimed not wanting to keep hearing about how oblivious she’d been the last few years. But there was a part of her that still didn’t believe him.
She sighed, “I just didn’t think you’d feel that way about me because well,” she motioned to herself, “I’m just me.”
He pulled her in closer with the hold he still had on her wrist, “Yeah exactly. You’re you.”
She stared up at him with a deadpanned look, “Rafe you haven’t made the situation better. That is exactly what I just said.”
He reached up and held her jaw as he chuckled. His thumb softly rubbing her cheek adoringly, “You’re you. The prettiest, funniest, smartest, kindest, most understanding person I’ve ever known. I like you for you. Because you’re you. No one compares to you. I want to start and end my days with you. Watching you be with anyone but me has been the greatest heartache. I never thought I’d be good enough for you but I really really want to try to be.”
Her eyes widened with that look again, “Oh.”
He brushed her hair behind her ear, “So will you go on a date with me? It’s cool if you don’t.” He really loved teasing her.
Her cheeks burned as she rolled her eyes lovingly, “Well of course I will. Especially after all that.”
Rafe moved his hands down to the small of her back pushing her even closer to him, “Yeah you like when I remind you how perfect you are?”
Now this was a Rafe she hadn’t seen. The one she had been dreaming of late at night. Especially after that moving day. His arms looked so big as he lifted boxes and installed curtain rods. She imagined being in those arms just like she is now. She also imagined being caged between them as her legs rested on his shoulders as he relentlessly pou-
“You there?” He asked with a smirk. If his mind went to the same place as hers he didn’t show it.
“Mhmm,” She nodded swallowing thickly.
He sighed sounding disappointed, “I’d kiss you right now but I kinda want to wait for that date. Make it romantic and shit.”
She snorted, “and shit.”
“Mhmm don’t worry I’ll make it worth your time,”He smirked and wrapped his arm around her shoulder beginning to lead her back to the house where the music was playing loudly. Splashes from the pool could be heard and the murmur of young adults talking and laughing.
She poked his side teasingly, “I didn’t know you had such a way with words. Your greatest heartache. Enamored. Who are you Rafe Cameron?”
He kissed the top of her head, “You bring out the poet in me I guess.”
“You’re so corny,” She laughed.
“I’ll be corny all day every day if it means I get to hear you laugh.”
That pit of anxiety no longer in her stomach. That lingering what if voice in Rafe’s head quiet for once.

now playing - how deep is your love by mistski (instrumental)
The tension between you and Rafe had been building for what felt like forever. It started innocently enough, with him helping you fix your form in golf, your breast "accidentally" brushing against his chest when you brushed past him, the way you'd catch him watching you walk away in those tiny little shorts.
Rafe was your dad's best friend, a man who'd been in and out of your life since you were young. You always had a crush on him, missing the days he would pick you up on Friday’s after school, taking you to lunch. After freshman year of high school he became more busy and those days eventually stopped. With you two growing apart, yet your little school girl crush never seemed to go away, and he seemed to never notice. But over the past couple summers, something had shifted. You were no longer the teenager he remembered, and he then seemed to be noticing.
This month he had come to stay the week over. On the first day, you'd worn a particularly revealing bikini by the pool, making sure to apply sunscreen slowly and deliberately while he watched from the patio. You'd seen the way his jaw tightened, how he'd quickly look away when your dad glanced over.
Yesterday, you'd "forgotten" to grab clothes to leave out after your shower, walking to your room in just a towel wrapped loosely around your body, making sure to go the long way, the hall you’d know he’d walk past. You'd heard his sharp intake of breath, the way he quickly turned around and mumbled something about checking on the grill.
But today was going to be different. Today, you had decided you were going to push all the boundaries. The morning sun filtered through the kitchen windows as you sat at the table with your dad and Rafe. You were wearing a simple white sundress with nothing underneath, a fact that only you knew. Your dad was rambling about some work thing, completely oblivious to the tension.
You pulled out your phone under the table, pretending to check messages as you sent him a video of you last night, touching yourself. Making sure to include just enough of your face for him to recognize it was you. Your heart was pounding as you hit send, watching Rafe's phone buzz on the table beside his coffee mug.
He picked it up casually, expecting a normal notification. You watched as his eyes widened, his fist squeezing his fork. A flush crept up his neck as he quickly locked his phone, placing it face down on the table.
"Everything okay, Rafe?" your dad asked, noticing his friend's strange reaction. "Fine," Rafe muttered, his voice slightly hoarse. "Just some spam." You suppressed a smile, taking a slow sip of your juice as you watched him try to compose himself. Throughout breakfast, you caught his eyes on you multiple times, each time filled with a mixture of shock, confusion, and something else, something darker.
The day passed in a blur. You could feel Rafe's eyes on you whenever you were in the same room, but he kept his distance, clearly trying to process what you'd done. That evening, as you were getting ready for bed, you heard your door open. You turned around, expecting your dad.
But the door opened to reveal Rafe, his expression serious. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him. "Lock your door," he said, his voice low and intense. "We’re going to talk about the text you sent this morning." Your heart raced as you complied, the soft click of the lock echoing in the room. When you turned back around, Rafe was standing in the middle of your room, his arms crossed over his chest.
"What were you thinking?" he asked, his eyes fixed on you. "Sending something like that when your dad was right there?" "I was thinking I wanted your attention," you replied, moving to sit on the edge of your bed. "And it looks like I got it." Rafe ran a hand through his hair, a frustrated sigh escaping his lips. "This is inappropriate, you know that, right? I'm your dad's best friend. I've known you since you were a kid."
"I'm not a kid anymore," you stated, leaning back on your elbows, your dress riding up slightly. "And I think you've noticed." His eyes dropped to where the hem of your dress had risen, exposing more of your thighs, before quickly looking away. "This needs to stop. Whatever game you're playing." he says, taking a step towards you.
"Who says it's a game?" you interrupted, your legs over the side of the bed. You slowly raised one foot, placing it against his chest to stop him from taking another step. You could feel the rapid beat of his heart beneath your sole. Rafe's breath hitched, his hands coming up to grip your ankle, though he made no move to push you away. "You need to stop," he commanded, though his voice had lost some of its conviction. "Or what?" you challenged, your foot trailing down his body, over his stomach, until it rested against the growing bulge in his pants. "You'll tell my dad? About how his best friend can't stop eye fucking his daughter?"
“Yeah…” you said, humming, “I see the way you look at me… well, my body.” you add with a smile. Rafe's grip on your ankle tightened, his eyes darkening with desire. "What do you want out of this, huh? What do you gain?" "You." you whispered, your foot rubbing against him through his pants. “Stop,” he warned. You smiled, looking up at him, “I know you want this.” you stated, sweetly. "I can't believe you're doing this," Rafe sighed, his voice tight, his eyes fixed on the floor as if looking at you was physically painful. "Get your foot off me. Now."
"I'm not doing anything," you replied softly, keeping your foot pressed firmly against the hard line of him. "I'm just sitting here. You're the one standing in my room." "I came to tell you to stop," he snapped, finally lifting his gaze. His eyes were dark, pupils blown wide. "To tell you that video. it was a mistake. And you need to fucking behave." he yelled, throwing your foot off of him.
"Yet you watched it," you countered, tilting your head, letting the silence stretch. "And you didn't delete it. I saw you lock your phone, but I didn't see you delete it. You kept it." Rafe took a sharp step back, breaking the contact, running a hand over his face. "I didn't delete it because I was in shock. Because your father was sitting right there. Do you have any idea how close I came to losing my shit on you at the table?"
"Did you?" you asked, your voice dropping to a whisper. "Lose your mind, I mean. Or did you just sit there thinking about what I was doing? About how I looked?" "Stop it," he warned, pointing a finger at you. "You are playing a sick game. I am your father's best friend. I’ve watched you grow up. I’m not... I’m not some guy you can flirt with, I'm practically your uncle."
"I'm not flirting," you admitted, standing up slowly. Your eyes on him as you watch his breath hitch, his eyes instinctively tracking the movement of your body, the way your white dress clinged to you tight. "I'm telling you the truth. I don't want some guy. I want you."
"Just, stop–fuck," he said, his voice rough, turning away from you to pace the small space of the room. You laughed, a low, dry sound, walking over to him, grabbing his jaw to turn towards your face. He stopped pacing. He turned slowly, his jaw clenched so hard a muscle ticked in his cheek. His gaze swept over you, lingering on the curve of your hips, the exposed skin of your thighs.
"You're making this impossible," he gritted out. "Good," you whispered, taking a step toward him. He didn't retreat, but his body went rigid, every muscle coiled tight. "I want you to stop pretending you don't want this too. I saw you watching me by the pool. I felt you tense up when I walked past you in the hall. You think I don’t notice?"
"I can't," he breathed, his eyes squeezing shut as if in pain. "I’m twice your age." "I don’t care," you said, taking his hand in yours, bringing it down to your stomach. “I watched you grow up.” he whispered, voice ruined. “Rafe.” you said, as you brought his hand lower, dipping it under your dress for him to feel, feel how you had nothing under. “Shit.” he murmured, dropping his forehead down to yours.
With a groan, Rafe gave in, your hands pulling his face closer to yours. He leaned down, his warm breath fanning across your lips. You kissed him softly, light. With it only lasting about 30 seconds until he felt his consciousness slowly creep back in. He started to pull back, shaking his head, “No, no.” he whispered lightly. Your arms stayed wrapped around his neck, pulling him in again. Kissing him harder, as your other hand trailed down, palming him through his pants.
Rafe’s head dropped forward, his mouth open. “Fuck,” he breathed out. You continued touching him, through the fabric. And finally he kissed you hard, all the pent up tension of the past few days finally breaking free. Rafe's lips moved against yours with a need that matched your own, his tongue delving into your mouth as his hands roamed your body.
He walked the two of you back until you felt the bed hit the back of your knees. You wrapped your arms around his neck again, pulling him down with you onto the bed as the kiss deepened. His hands found their way under your dress, touching your bare skin, sending shivers of pleasure through your body. "God, you're not wearing anything under this," he groaned against your lips, his fingers tracing the curve of your hip.
"I told you I wasn't a kid anymore," you replied, arching into his touch. He helped you slowly peel your dress off, watching you. "Fuck," he breathed, his gaze lingering on your breasts before moving down to the wetness between your thighs. "You're perfect." His voice was wrecked. When his fingers found your wetness, you arched off the bed, a whine of pleasure escaping your lips. He teased you mercilessly, his fingers circling your clit without quite touching it, driving you wild with need.
"Rafe, please," you begged, your hands fisting in the sheets. "Please what?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips as he continued to torture you. "Tell me what you want." he said, softly. "You," you gasped. "I want you." That was all he needed to hear before he quickly tore his own clothes off, body lean and muscular. Your gaze trailed down to him. Mouth watering at the sight of him, thick and hard, already leaking with precum.
He positioned himself between your legs, his eyes locked with yours as he slowly entered you. You both groaned at the sensation, the feeling of him stretching you, filling you completely. Rafe's mouth found yours again, kissing you, biting the bottom of your lip. You whined, in pleasure, eyes squeezing shut. As his hands gripped your hips, pulling you closer, deeper. You wrapped your legs around his waist, meeting his thrusts with your own.
“God," Rafe groaned, as he pushed frantically into you, moving in and out of you relentlessly. He looked down at you, firmly holding your jaw “Open your eyes baby.” he said, increasing his speed. You bit down on your lip, brows furrowed in pleasure. “Look at me.” he said, harshly, pulling your bottom lip open. You opened your eyes, while he leaned down to kiss you, his other hand working on your breast.
Fuck, you looked so hot like this he thought, hitting places you never felt before. Crying out in pleasure. But you wanted to feel him more, feel all of him. You pushed lightly at his chest, his thrusts slowing a bit in confusion. You breathed out heavily, moving over, pushing him against the bed. He watched you intensely as you climbed over him, slowly sinking yourself down onto him.
A groan tore from Rafe's throat, his head falling back against the pillow, his eyes squeezing shut. The sensation of taking him in this way, of controlling the depth and the speed, was overwhelming. You threw your head back, a moan escaping your lips as you adjusted to his size, feeling every inch of him stretching you, filling you completely.
For a moment, neither of you moved. The feeling was too intense, too much. But it didn't last long. You started to move, slowly at first, rocking your hips in a circular motion that had Rafe's hands tightening on your hips, his fingers digging into your skin. Then, faster. Rafe's hips bucked up to meet you, his restraint gone. He was no longer trying to hold back, no longer trying to be careful. His hands moved from your hips to your ass, gripping you tightly, helping you lift and slam down on him with every thrust.
You could feel the pressure building inside you, a tidal wave of sensation that threatened to spill over. But you didn't stop. You couldn't stop. You moved faster, harder, your breath coming in short, sharp gasps. Rafe's hands moved to your throat, squeezing light, his thumbs pressing gently against your pulse point.
His body tensed beneath you, his hips stuttering. You knew what was coming. You could feel it in the way his hands gripped you, in the way his breath hitched in his throat. He was close. Too close. He tried to speak, to warn you, but you silenced him with a kiss, your hips moving faster, harder, refusing to let him stop. You wanted this. You needed this. Needed to feel him.
With a groan that was half agony, half relief, Rafe grabbed your hips, pulling you down hard onto him as he thrust up one last time, burying himself as deep as he could. You felt his body tense, his muscles coiling before he came inside you, warm and deep. You cried out, your own orgasm ripping through you. You clung to him, nails digging into his shoulders, as you both tried catching your breaths, broken gasps.
The room was now suffocatingly quiet, except for the harsh, uneven sound of Rafe's breathing as he scrambled away from you. He pulled out abruptly, the loss of him leaving a cold emptiness inside you. He didn't look at you. He couldn't. He sat on the edge of the bed, his back to you, his head hanging between his hands as he ran his hands through his hair. His shoulders hunched.
"Fuck," he muttered, his voice rough. You sat up slowly, the sheets wrapped around you now. You watched the muscles in his back tense and coil as he shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping his lips."I can't believe I did that," he spat, finally turning to look at you. His eyes were filled with a cold, hard regret. "I actually... inside you. Jesus Christ." He stood up, frantically gathering his clothes from the floor. "You have no idea what you've done. No idea."
"I know exactly what I did," you said, your voice calm, steady. You turned, lifting the sheets around you a bit, allowing him to see the red marks his hands had left on your hips, the evidence of what you had just done together. "And so do you." Rafe froze, his shirt clutched in his hand. He turned slowly, his face pale, sweat still drying on his forehead. His gaze swept over you, but this time there was no desire in it. Only anger. "You manipulated me," he accused, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "You planned this. The video, the towel, everything." You looked at him as he watched you slowly put your clothes back on.
"I gave you what you wanted," you corrected, a small smile playing on your lips. Standing up slowly. You took a step toward him, and he instinctively took a step back, hitting the wall. "You wanted it just as much as I did. You just didn't have the guts to admit it until I forced your hand."
"This is a nightmare," he groaned, turning away again. "Your father... he's going to kill me. He's going to kill me, and then he's going to kill you. Do you understand that?"
"He doesn't have to know," you said. You reached out, tracing a finger down the spine of the man who had just fucked your brains out, feeling the tremors running through his body. "Nothing has to change."
Rafe spun around, yanking your hand away, his eyes with a mix of anger and desperation. "Nothing has to change? Are you insane? Everything has changed! I just.. I just fucked my best friend's daughter." He laughed, a harsh, bitter sound. "This isn’t happening again."
"Whatever you say." you replied, your voice flat, as you stepped into his personal space again, forcing him to look at you. Rafe stared at you, his jaw clenched so tight a muscle ticked violently in his cheek. He looked like he wanted to shake you, to scream at you, to never look at you again. But he didn't move. He couldn't. He was trapped by the reality of what had just happened. By the fact that he had enjoyed it, that he had come inside you.
"What, you think I'm not serious?" he snapped, voice full. "Not by a long shot." you responded. His eyes widened in horror as the implication hit him. "What are you talking about? This never happened." he demanded, his voice cold, final. As Rafe turned to leave, he heard you, “See you at the barbeque next weekend.” you remarked, smiling. Rafe froze, his hand on the doorknob. He didn't turn around. He didn't answer. He just stood there, his shoulders stiff, before he yanked the door open and slammed it shut behind him, leaving you alone in the room.

You’d been staring at Rafe for the past ten minutes like he was the only person in the entire backyard.
His hair had grown out nicely .
no more of that severe buzzcut he used to rock.
The longer, sun bleached strands fell messily over his forehead, and every time he ran a hand through them, your stomach flipped.
He looked taller, broader in the shoulders, the muscles in his arms flexing under his tight t-shirt as he laughed at something Kelce said.
The man had filled out in all the right ways, and damn if your body wasn’t reacting immediately.
You pressed your thighs together, trying to ignore the growing heat between your legs.
Sarah’s sharp elbow to your ribs nearly made you yelp.
“Ow!” you hissed, rubbing the spot.
Topper and Kelce glanced over with raised eyebrows, but Rafe didn’t even look up.
He stayed relaxed in his chair, legs spread wide, the picture of effortless dominance.
Sarah smirked, leaning closer.
“Why don’t we take the yacht out? It’s been forever since we’ve been on the water.”
She turned to her brother with that sweet, manipulative smile she knew worked on him.
“Come on, Rafe. Please?”
Rafe’s blue eyes flicked from his sister to you.
The intensity in them made your breath hitch.
You weren’t paying attention to the conversation anymore, you were too busy memorizing the sharp cut of his jaw, the way his gaze darkened when it lingered on your body.
Heat crawled up your neck.
He exhaled through his nose, pretending to be annoyed.
“Fine. I’ll get the yacht ready.”
Sarah squealed and immediately grabbed your wrist, dragging you upstairs to change.
You both slipped into bikinis ,hers a classic red, yours the pink polka-dot set that made you feel dangerously confident.
By the time you stepped back outside, the boys were already down at the dock.
The yacht bobbed gently in the water, tied securely to the cleat.
Topper and Kelce were bickering loudly over the engine, shoving each other like overgrown children.
Rafe turned around the moment you approached and froze.
His eyes raked slowly down your body, taking in every curve the tiny bikini barely contained.
The way the fabric hugged your breasts, the high cut of the bottoms that showed off your hips and ass.
You watched his throat bob as he swallowed hard.
For a second, it looked like his brain had completely powered down.
Sarah hopped onto the yacht first. Rafe offered her a hand politely, but when you stepped up, his large palm settled firmly on your waist instead.
His fingers splayed across your bare skin, warm and possessive, pulling you closer than necessary.
The touch sent electricity racing through you. Sarah shot him a suspicious side eye, but he ignored her completely.
The afternoon passed in a blur of laughter, music, and splashing water.
But as the sun dipped lower, painting the sky in deep oranges and pinks, the others started heading back.
Kelce, Topper, and Sarah tied off the yacht and disappeared into the house, their voices fading up the lawn.
You stayed behind, sitting on the floor of the yacht with your legs dangling over the edge, watching the sunset.
The gentle rocking of the boat and the warm breeze felt peaceful.
Until Rafe dropped down beside you.
He sat so close his thigh pressed against yours.
For a long moment, neither of you spoke.
Then his hand landed on your knee, sliding slowly upward, fingertips tracing the inside of your thigh.
One thing led to another… fast.
Now you were straddling his lap, your bikini bottoms shoved aside as two of his thick fingers thrust deep inside your soaked pussy.
His thumb worked tight, relentless circles over your swollen clit.
You were trembling, hands gripping his broad shoulders, head tipped back while shameless moans fell from your lips.
“Fuck, you’re incredibly wet,” Rafe groaned into your neck, voice low and rough.
His mouth latched onto one of your nipples, sucking hard through the thin pink fabric until you cried out.
The wet heat of his tongue combined with the steady thrust of his fingers had you seeing stars.
Your hips rolled desperately against his hand, chasing the pleasure.
The coil in your stomach tightened unbearably.
“Rafe— M’gonna cum—”
He didn’t answer with words.
Instead, he curled his fingers, hitting that perfect spot inside you while his thumb pressed firmer.
His free hand gripped your ass, guiding your movements.
The tension snapped hard.
Your thighs shook violently as you came, a broken moan tearing from your throat.
Rafe kept pumping through it, drawing out every last wave until you were panting and boneless against his chest.
You buried your face in his neck, trying to catch your breath.
He kissed along your jaw and throat, surprisingly gentle after how filthy he’d just been.
“Yo, Rafe! You coming inside or what?!” Kelce yelled from the garden, squinting through the dim light.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there in a sec !” Rafe shouted back, voice husky.
He slowly pulled his fingers out of you, deliberately dragging them along your sensitive folds before wiping them on the front of your bikini bottoms with a smirk.
He pressed one last lingering, open mouthed kiss to the side of your neck, then stood up.
As he turned to leave, he paused, looking back at you with dark, hungry eyes that promised so much more.
“Meet me in my bedroom tonight” he said, voice low enough that only you could hear.
“Late. After everyone’s asleep. Don’t make me wait, baby.”
He gave you one last heated look before climbing off the yacht, leaving you flushed, half naked, and already throbbing with anticipation on the gently rocking deck.
Best day in history and it wasn’t even over yet.

pov. known as his calm and sweet wife, but the minute you found out rafe cheated on you by sarah, your kindness toward him dropped and you go absolutely fucking insane on him.
content warnings. ⸝⸝ fem reader, wife!reader, husband!rafe, arguing, cheating, semi-public humiliation, no proof read, cheater!rafe, crazy!reader, rafe cries, emotional angst, long fic, makeup sex
you sit on the edge of the porch at tannyhill, the late afternoon sun dipping low and casting long shadows across the perfectly manicured lawn. everything feels too still, too familiar, the soft hum of the ocean in the distance, the faint scent of salt and rafe’s cologne still clinging to the collar of your shirt from when he kissed you goodbye this morning.
you’ve always been the calm one, the sweet wife who smooths over his sharp edges with quiet patience and gentle smiles. people say it like it’s a compliment; “rafe’s lucky to have her. she keeps him grounded.” you believed it too, wrapping yourself in that role like it was armor.
the sound of footsteps pulls you from your thoughts. sarah appears from around the side of the house, her expression tight, eyes darting like she’s not sure she should even be here. she’s your sister in law, but the two of you have always had this careful distance, polite, never deep. today though, she looks different, nervous, almost guilty of something.
“hey,” she says softly, stopping a few feet away, hands twisting together. “can we talk? it’s… important.” she asks. you tilt your head, offering her that same warm smile you give everyone. “of course. everything okay?”
she hesitates, glancing back toward the house as if checking for rafe even though you both know he’s out with barry or topper or whoever for the afternoon. then she steps closer, lowering herself onto the wicker chair across from you. the way she looks at you, pity mixed with something sharper makes your stomach twist before she even opens her mouth.
“i’ve been thinking about this for weeks,” sarah starts, her voice low, like she’s forcing the words out. “and i know it’s not my place, but… you deserve to know. rafe… he’s not who you think he is. at least not right now.” she starts. you blink, still calm, still sweet, the words not quite landing yet. “what do you mean?”
she takes a breath, then another. her fingers dig into the arms of the chair. “he cheated on you. more than once. i saw him—like.. last month at that party on the cut. some girl from the mainland,” she starts.
“and then again a couple weeks ago. i didn’t want to believe it either, but i confronted him and he didn’t even deny it. just told me to mind my own fucking business. he’s been lying to your face, acting like everything’s normal while he’s out there—”
the rest of her sentence fades into a dull roar in your ears. you stare at her, the porch suddenly feeling too small, the air too thick. sarah keeps talking, her voice cracking with frustration and regret, detailing the times, the places, the way rafe had brushed it off like it was nothing.
each word lands like a stone dropping into still water, sending ripples through every memory you’ve been holding close. the late nights he said were ‘business’, the way he’d come home smelling like someone else’s perfume and you’d convinced yourself it was just the bonfire smoke, the soft kisses he’d press to your forehead while whispering that you were the only one who mattered.
your hands stay folded neatly in your lap, but inside, something shifts. the kindness you’ve always extended to him, the endless patience, the quiet forgiveness for his temper, his chaos, cracks right down the middle. you feel it physically, like a wire snapping taut in your chest. the realization settles heavy and cold.
he looked you in the eyes every single day and chose this, chose to keep you sweet and soft and blind while he tore everything apart behind your back.
sarah’s voice trails off. she’s watching you closely now, worry etched across her face. “i’m so sorry. i should’ve told you sooner. you’ve been nothing but good to him, and he—” she continued, but you don’t interrupt her. you just sit there, the sweet wife mask still fixed in place for now.
underneath it, the warmth is draining away fast, replaced by something sharper, darker, building in the silence. your mind replays every gentle ‘i love you’ he’s ever given you, every time you defended him to others, every night you waited up for him.
and for the first time, the thought of facing him doesn’t fill you with concern or the urge to fix things, it fills you with something else entirely.
you don’t even know how many hours passed. the sun had slipped away completely, leaving the sky a deep bruised purple. you stayed upstairs in the dim bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed with sarah’s words looping endlessly in your head, your hands clenched so tight your nails left little crescent marks in your palms. no tears, just this cold, steady burn replacing everything soft you used to feel for him.
pure fucking anger.
eventually you stand, legs stiff, and head downstairs for no real reason other than the house feeling too quiet. the back door is cracked open, letting in the warm night air and the low murmur of voices. you pause at the bottom of the stairs, peering through the glass panes.
there he is. rafe, lounging on the wide wooden bench out by the pool with topper and kelce flanking him, beers in hand, the three of them laughing about something stupid, the kind of easy, entitled bullshit that used to make you smile indulgently. rafe looks relaxed, legs stretched out, that familiar cocky tilt to his shoulders like the world still belongs to him.
you don’t feel calm anymore, but you move like you are, feet steady across the tile, into the kitchen. you pull a glass from the cabinet, fill it slowly under the tap until it overflows a little, cool water spilling over your fingers. there was no rush, no shaking hands, just controlled motions that felt robotic within.
the glass feels heavy in your grip as you step outside. the night air brushes your skin, carrying the scent of chlorine and rafe’s cologne again. topper notices you first, lifting his chin in greeting. kelce smirks, mid sentence. rafe turns his head at their shift in attention. the second his eyes land on you, he stops talking, that lazy, charming smile spreads across his face like nothing in the world is wrong.
“hey b—” he starts but you don’t let him finish. your arm swings forward in one clean motion, the water arcs through the air and hits him square in the face, soaking his hair, dripping down his shirt, splashing across the bench and his lap. the glass clatters empty onto the wooden slats at his feet. for a split second everything freezes.
rafe jolts back, blinking hard, water streaming down his jaw. his mouth hangs open in pure shock, eyes wide like he can’t process what just happened. “what the fuck?” he sputters, voice cracking between confusion and rising anger, hands wiping uselessly at his drenched chest. he looks at you like you’ve grown a second head, betrayed, pissed, and completely caught off guard.
topper nearly drops his beer, eyes bugging out as he stares between you and rafe. “whoa, shit—” he lets out a nervous laugh, half amused, half worried, shifting on the bench like he wants to disappear. “the hell was that for?” topper muttered.
kelce straight up recoils, the bench scraping back, a loud “goddamn!” escaping him before he barks out a surprised laugh. his eyebrows shoot up, glancing at rafe’s soaked state with barely concealed entertainment, but there’s a flicker of unease there too. “yo, she just—damn, cameron. what’d you do?” kelce asked.
rafe is still staring at you, water dripping from his lashes, chest heaving now as the initial shock burns into something hotter. his jaw clenches, that familiar temper flashing behind his eyes, but underneath it there’s genuine confusion, maybe even a hint of fear at how still and cold you look standing there.
you bare your teeth, the words slicing out low and venomous. “fuck you.” you spat, the silence that follows is thick enough to choke on.
you stand there, water still dripping from rafe’s chin onto the bench, the glass lying forgotten at his feet. he recovers enough to push up from the seat, hands raised like he’s approaching a wild animal, water soaking through his shirt and making it cling to his chest.
“baby, wait, hold on, what the hell is going on?” rafe starts, voice urgent, that mix of panic and defensiveness already creeping in. “did sarah say something? i swear to god, whatever she told you—” he added but you cut him off with a sharp, controlled yell that slices through the night air. “who the FUCK do you think i am?”
the word “fuck” explodes out of you louder than anything you’ve ever said to him before, completely raw, furious, cracking across the backyard like a whip. topper’s head snaps back in surprise, eyes widening as he mutters under his breath, “holy shit.” kelce actually freezes mid motion, beer halfway to his mouth, staring at you like you’ve been body snatched.
both of them look visibly uncomfortable now, shifting awkwardly on the bench, exchanging quick glances but staying dead quiet, clearly not wanting any part of whatever this is.
rafe flinches at the volume, his mouth closing instantly, his eyes locked on yours with a storm of emotions, shock, anger, something almost scared flickering underneath. you take a slow breath, forcing your voice quiet again, calm on the surface even as rage simmers beneath it. “answer my fucking question.” you demand.
the backyard is silent except for the distant lap of pool water. kelce and topper sit rigid, eyes darting between the two of you, bodies tense like they’re watching a live grenade, neither of them dares speak.
“some stupid bitch you can leave at the house?” you continue, voice steady but laced with venom, stepping closer so he can feel every word. “come back and fuck at night?” you ask, brow lifting as if you’re genuinely asking him. rafe’s face twists, and he opens his mouth immediately, stepping forward with that desperate, commanding tone he always uses when he’s trying to regain control. “baby, listen to me, it’s not—”
“shut the fuck up.” you cut him off immediately, your yell is even sharper this time, the force of it making topper visibly wince and kelce sink back against the bench, both of them looking increasingly uneasy, mouths pressed into tight lines as they avoid eye contact with either of you.
rafe stops dead, jaw clenched so hard the muscle jumps, water still dripping from his hair as he stares at you, like he’s seeing a version of his sweet, calm wife he never thought existed. his hands twitch at his sides, torn between reaching for you and the instinct to snap back, but for once he stays silent, chest rising and falling fast.
you don’t give him room to breathe, eyes locked on his face, voice low and trembling with barely contained fury. “did you really think i was that fucking stupid?” you questioned.
rafe swallows hard, running a shaky hand through his wet hair, water still trickling down his neck. “no—baby, come on, that’s not what this is. you know me, i fucked up but it didn’t mean anything, alright? it was just—”
“look me in my fucking face and tell me it was worth it.” you yelled, your words hit like ice. rafe’s mouth opens, then closes, he can’t do it. his gaze drops to the ground for a second, jaw tight, refusing to meet your eyes. the silence stretches, heavy and damning.
kelce and topper shift uncomfortably on the bench, their earlier surprise turning into something heavier as they watch rafe struggle. they’re starting to piece it together now, eyes flicking to him with quiet judgment, but they stay glued in place, mouths shut.
“tell me her name,” you say, voice flat. rafe stays silent, throat working as he swallows again, staring somewhere past your shoulder like the answer might disappear if he doesn’t say it. “tell me her fucking name,” you repeat, the yell ripping out of you loud and sharp enough to make the boys flinch.
rafe’s shoulders tense. you step even closer, anger burning in every syllable as your voice drops quiet again. “say it. don’t be a fucking coward.” you stated. he finally breaks, voice rough and reluctant, barely above a whisper. “…sophie. her name’s sophie.”
the second the name leaves his mouth, kelce and topper turn their heads toward him in unison, eyes widening with realization. topper’s face twists in discomfort, muttering a quiet “damn, man…” under his breath while kelce just stares, lips pressed thin, the weight of what rafe actually did sinking in. neither of them speaks, but the shift in the air is obvious, they’re no longer just awkward spectators.
you feel something inside you fracture even further. “i can’t even fucking look at you,” you say, voice cracking with disgust as you turn your head away. then louder, barking it out like it hurts to hold in. “i fucking hate you.”
rafe’s expression shatters. he reaches out instinctively, fingers brushing your arm before you pull back. “no, please. don’t say that. i’m sorry, okay? i’m so fucking sorry, it was a mistake, i swear to god it won’t happen again.” he pleads, his eyes watching your face.
“you’re my wife, you’re everything, just—let me fix this. don’t do this to us, baby.” his voice is desperate now, cracking at the edges, eyes glassy as he steps closer, ignoring the water still soaking him and the silent audience watching every second. “i love you. you know that. please.” he begs but you don’t even let him finish begging.
“your wife?” you ask him quickly, the words sharp and disbelieving. before he can respond you laugh, very hollow, bitter, angry, the sound scraping out of your throat like it doesn’t even belong to you. topper and kelce exchange another uneasy glance, both of them leaning back further on the bench like they’re trying to disappear into the shadows.
“i’m your wife?” you repeat, voice rising with every syllable. rafe’s face pales, eyes narrowing with suspicion as he slowly sits back down on the bench, hands gripping the edge like he senses the storm about to break. “hold on, wait—baby, just breathe for a second, okay? we can—”
you don’t wait. in one sudden, violent motion you lunge for the low coffee table in front of them, hands slamming down on the edge. with a scream of pure rage you flip it hard, wood cracks against the stone patio as the table crashes over, glasses and beer bottles flying, one edge barely missing rafe’s legs by inches. he jerks back with a startled “fuck!” he said, his arms flying up to shield himself, eyes wide with genuine alarm now.
“i’m not your fucking wife!” you yell, voice trembling with uncontained rage as you storm right into his space, getting inches from his face. your chest heaves, hands clenched into fists at your sides, every bit of that sweet, calm mask completely shattered.
rafe stares up at you from the bench, stunned silent for once, water still drying on his skin and his expression a mix of shock, fear, and something dangerously close to regret.
kelce mutters a low, “jesus christ…” while topper just sits frozen, both of them rigid and wide eyed, too uncomfortable to move or speak as they watch you tower over rafe, the air thick with the sound of your heavy breathing and the scattered mess of the flipped table between you.
you lean in closer, breath hot against his face, voice dripping with mockery. “you love me?” you echo, the words sharp and disbelieving. rafe’s mouth opens but you don’t let him speak, voice building louder, trembling on the edge of breaking.
“i’m your wife?” you echo again, each repetition feeding the fire in your chest. “you love yourself,” you yell, the accusation ripping out as your hands shoot forward. your fingers fist tight into the fabric of his dark blue polo, the wet material bunching under your grip. with a hard shove you push him back against the bench, the wood creaking under the force.
rafe’s hands fly up immediately, grabbing your wrist, not rough, but desperate, trying to hold onto you as his voice cracks with panic. “baby, please—i’m sorry, i’m so fucking sorry. just relax, okay? calm down for me, we can talk about this, don’t do this right now—”
“relax?” you echo, the word cracking into a hollow, bitter laugh right in his face. the sound is cold, unhinged, nothing like the soft laughter he’s used to from you. then, suddenly, your tone shifts, completely calm. eerily so. “i’ll relax,” you say, voice steady and quiet, eyes locked on his. “watch.” you said.
rafe’s grip on your wrists loosens slightly, confusion flashing across his features as he searches your face. you pull back just enough to turn your head toward the two boys still frozen on the bench. “go home,” you tell kelce and topper, the command flat but carrying enough weight that neither of them hesitates.
they get up immediately, the bench scraping loud against the patio. topper mutters a quick “yeah, we’re out” while kelce avoids eye contact entirely, both of them looking relieved to have an exit. they speed walk through the house without another word, footsteps fading fast toward the driveway.
moments later you hear car doors slam and engines roar to life, tires crunching gravel as they peel out, leaving you and rafe completely alone in the heavy silence. rafe’s eyes are wide on you now, chest rising fast, waiting for whatever comes next.
you hold rafe’s gaze for one more second, that calm mask still plastered on your face like a warning. then your eyes drop to his wrist, the expensive watch you’d bought him for your first anniversary, the one he wore every single day like it meant something, without a word you snatch his arm, fingers digging into his skin as you rip the watch off his wrist in one brutal yank. the clasp snaps.
rafe’s eyes widen. “wait. wait, wait—don’t—” he started but you don’t listen. you whirl around and slam the watch down onto the concrete with everything you have. the glass face shatters instantly, metal links twisting and scattering across the patio in a sharp, satisfying crack. pieces glitter under the outdoor lights like broken promises.
then you storm inside, feet pounding across the tile, not looking back. you hear rafe scrambling after you, his voice frantic and close behind. “baby, stop—please, talk to me. i’m sorry, okay? we can fix this, just slow down—”
but you ignore him completely, taking the stairs two at a time, breath coming fast and shallow. rafe follows right on your heels, reaching for your arm but pulling back at the last second like he’s scared of what you’ll do next.
you shove open the door to the walk in closet, the lights flickering on automatically. his side is neat, rows of designer clothes, shelves of shoes, and the drawer where he keeps all his jewelry. you yank the drawer open so hard it flies out halfway, crashing to the floor.
rafe stands in the doorway, hands raised. “babe, come on, this isn’t you. breathe for me, alright? i fucked up, i know that, but destroying everything isn’t gonna help. please, just look at me—” he continued on and on, but you don’t say a single word to him.
instead you start ripping. necklaces, bracelets, heavy chains, expensive rings, everything you can grab. you tear them from their hooks and trays, snapping chains between your fingers, bending metal until it warps and breaks, throwing pieces against the walls and floor.
the sound of clattering gold and silver fills the closet as you destroy every piece he owns, face blank except for the rage burning in your eyes. a rolex chain snaps clean in half, a diamond stud earring gets crushed under your heel.
rafe watches from the doorway, face pale, voice cracking as he keeps trying. “stop. please? i love you, baby. i’m begging you, just stop for a second. we’ll figure this out, i swear. don’t do this to us, baby. talk to me. please.” he begs as he takes a hesitant step closer.
he was still pleading, still reaching out like he can pull you back from the edge, but you keep going in silence, the only sounds in the room your ragged breathing and the sharp crack of broken jewelry hitting the floor around you. you keep destroying piece after piece, the closet floor now littered with twisted metal and broken gems. rafe finally steps fully inside, voice desperate as he reaches for you.
“jesus! stop—please, i can’t watch you do this,” he says, hands grabbing your arms from behind, trying to pull you back against him. you whirl around instantly, snatching his shirt in both fists and yanking him forward hard until his face is inches from yours. “was she worth throwing our marriage away?” you ask, voice low and venomous.
rafe’s mouth moves fast, eyes wide. “no, god no—she wasn’t, it was nothing, i swear it meant nothing—” he said. “did she know you were married, rafe?” you cut in, staring him down.
he doesn’t reply, just swallows thickly, gaze flickering away. “huh?” you yell, shaking him once by the shirt, the sound echoing off the closet walls. rafe flinches. “did you wear your fucking ring around her or did you take it off?” you ask, head tilting slowly as you watch his eyes, searching for the truth you already dread. his voice comes out small, ashamed. “no… i took it off.”
you scoff, the sound full of disgust, and shove him away from you hard enough that he stumbles back into the doorframe. you push past him without another glance, storming into the hallway. your eyes land on the metal bat leaning against the wall near the stairs, left there from some backyard game weeks ago. you pick it up gracefully, fingers wrapping tight around the handle.
rafe follows right behind you, still pleading. “baby, put that down, come on. you’re scaring me. we can talk.” he said, brows furrowed. you turn to face him, bat resting against your shoulder. “you did?” you ask quietly.
he swallows again, nodding slowly, eyes locked on the bat. “fuck you,” you spit out, then you swing.
the bat cracks hard into the wall, smashing the first framed picture of the two of you, your wedding photo, glass shattering everywhere. you keep moving, rafe trailing desperately behind you as you swing again and again, following the hallway toward the bedroom.
each hit destroys another memory; the two of you smiling on the beach, laughing at some party, that stupid candid shot he loved so much, frames splinter, photos tear, glass rains down onto the floor.
you burst into the bedroom and don’t stop, bat swinging into his nightstand, lamp crashing to the ground, clothes ripped from hangers and shredded under your feet. pictures on the dresser, gone, the mirror he used every morning, cracked. you destroy everything that feels like him, everything that feels like us.
“how many fucking times, rafe?” you ask, voice raw as you keep swinging, breathing hard, the sound of destruction echoing through the house while he stands there helpless, watching the life you built together shatter around him.
you keep swinging, the bat cracking against furniture and walls, shards of glass and wood scattering across the floor like confetti from a nightmare. rafe stands there in the middle of it all, jaw completely dropped, eyes wide with pure shock as the destruction closes in around him.
“how many fucking times, rafe?” you ask again, voice hoarse. “every single time,” he answers, the words barely above a whisper, shock freezing him in place for a long second.
you don’t stop. you tear through the rest of the room until it’s completely destroyed, drawers yanked out and dumped, clothes shredded, the bed frame cracked from a wild swing, every picture of the two of you reduced to broken glass and torn paper under your feet. the room looks like a war zone when you finally lower the bat, chest heaving, arms burning.
rafe snaps out of it and lunges forward, arms wrapping around you. “stop, please—i’m here, i’m right here,” he murmurs, trying to hold you tight against his chest.
you go rigid, then explode, fighting like hell, elbows flying, legs kicking, shoving against his hold with everything left in you. but he’s stronger, and no matter how hard you twist and push, you can’t break free.
he snatches the bat from your grip with one quick motion, tossing it aside where it clatters loudly against the ruined floor. before you can react he picks you up forcefully, arms locked around you as he lifts you off the ground. you thrash harder, nails digging into his arms, but he doesn’t let go, carrying you toward the bed while whispering frantically.
“i’m so sorry, baby. i’m so fucking sorry. i love you, please just let me hold you—” he said but you don’t reply. your breathing stays heavy and angry, chest rising and falling fast against him, body still rigid with rage. no words, and no acceptance, just fury rolling off you in waves.
rafe holds you still, refusing to loosen his grip as he lowers both of you onto the bed. he lays you on your back, his body immediately pressing down on top of you, weight pinning you firmly into the mattress so you can’t get up. his face hovers close, forehead nearly touching yours, breath warm against your ear as he keeps repeating it.
“i’m so sorry… i’m so sorry. i fucked everything up but i’m gonna fix it. i swear. i love you. please.” he said to you, but you still don’t answer. you don’t soften, you just breathe through your nostrils, staring at the ceiling with wild, angry eyes, refusing every single one of his sorries as his body keeps you trapped beneath him in the wreckage of your bedroom.
you keep fighting for a few more desperate seconds, hands shoving hard at his chest and shoulders, legs trying to kick out from under him, but his weight pins you down too firmly. eventually the fight drains out of you, your arms drop, body going limp beneath him as heavy, exhausted defeat settles in.
rafe doesn’t let go. he stays pressed against you, murmuring into your skin, voice thick and broken. “i’m so sorry, baby. i’m so fucking sorry. i love you. i love you so much. i never wanted to hurt you like this…” he said. his lips find your neck, pressing soft, desperate kisses along your skin as he keeps apologizing, warm breath fanning over you with every word. “please forgive me. i’ll do anything. i love you.”
the anger that had been burning so hot inside you suddenly cracks wide open. instead of pushing him away again, you feel your face crumple, hot tears spill down your cheeks without warning, silent at first and then pouring faster, soaking into the ruined sheets.
you turn your head sharply to the side, trying to hide your face in the pillow, shoulders shaking as the sobs start to break free. rafe freezes when he feels the first tears. “why did you do this, rafe?” you whisper, voice cracking, barely audible through the crying.
“no, no, no, no,” he says quickly, panic flooding his tone as his own eyes well up. “don’t cry, baby. please don’t cry.” his voice breaks completely when he sees you like this, tears slipping down his own face now because you’re crying, because he caused it.
he buries his face deeper into your neck, holding you tighter, his body trembling against yours. “i’m sorry. i’m so sorry. don’t cry. i can’t stand seeing you like this. i love you. i love you so much. please. don’t cry” he pleads, as he keeps kissing your neck between broken apologies, tears mixing with yours as he clings to you on the destroyed bed, both of you falling apart in the middle of the wreckage.
you lie there beneath him, tears still streaming down your face as the fight leaves your body completely. your voice comes out in a broken whisper, soft and raw. “i never broke one promise. i’ve never lied to you once.” you said. the sobs quiet into something smaller, more fragile, but the tears keep falling, soaking the pillow and his shirt where it presses against you.
“why?” you choke out. “why did you do this, rafe? am i not enough?” you question. rafe lifts his head, eyes red and desperate, trying to look at you. “baby, no—god, no, it’s not you. it was me, i was stupid, i was fucked up, it had nothing to do with you not being enough. you’re everything, please—”
you turn your face further away, hiding in the crook of your arm, refusing to let him see the full mess of your crying. your shoulders shake harder with every quiet sob. he keeps trying, voice cracking as tears roll down his own cheeks. “look at me. please. baby, just look at me.”
when you don’t, he shifts his weight, still pinning you firmly to the bed, and grabs your face with one hand. his grip is firm but not painful, fingers cupping your jaw as he turns your head toward him, forcing you to face him even as you squeeze your eyes shut, tears slipping through your lashes.
“you’re enough,” he says, voice thick with tears, forehead dropping heavily against your chin as his body trembles. “you’re more than enough. i’m so sorry. god, baby, don’t cry. please don’t cry. i love you. i fucked up so bad but you are enough. you’ve always been enough.” he reassured you.
he stays like that, crying with you, forehead pressed to your skin, hand still holding your face as the two of you lie in the middle of the destroyed room, his apologies mixing with your soft, heartbroken sobs.
you sob harder beneath him, voice breaking as you shake your head frantically. “let go of me… please…” you begged, your hands push weakly at his chest again, tears streaming down your temples into your hair.
“don’t hold me like you love me now. you don’t get to hold me like this after what you did.” you said, rafe’s grip doesn’t loosen, but his breath shakes against your skin, hot and uneven, tears still falling from his eyes onto your neck.
“what did i do so wrong?” you ask, crying harder, the words cracking open in the middle. his head lifts up to look at you. rafe’s voice comes out rough and trembling, breath hitching as he tries to steady himself. “nothing—you didn’t do anything wrong, baby. it was all me. i got lost, i got stupid, i never meant for any of this to happen. i swear on everything, it wasn’t you.” he stated.
you turn your face away again, voice small and shattered. “you were my husband.” you stated, the word hangs heavy between you, another sob ripping through your chest. “did you ever even love me?” you ask, the question barely audible through the tears.
his head dropped, rafe’s forehead presses against your shoulder, his whole body shaking now as fresh tears spill down his cheeks. “yes—fuck, yes i loved you. i still love you. i’ve always loved you. you’re the only one who’s ever mattered. i was just…“ he started as he whispers.
“i was fucked up. i hate myself for what i did to you. please believe me. i love you more than anything. i never stopped.” he explained more, his voice cracks completely on the last words, arms tightening around you even as you cry beneath him, both of you tangled together in the ruins of your marriage.
you lie there under him, tears still flowing steadily as your voice comes out small and broken, barely above a whisper.
“does she make you happier?” you ask. rafe’s breath catches hard, his body tensing against yours. he shakes his head quickly, tears slipping faster down his face. “no. no, baby. she doesn’t. she never could. nobody makes me feel the way you do. i was just…” he exhaled out his mouth, sniffling softly.
“chasing something stupid and empty. you’re the only one who’s ever made me happy. really happy.” he clarifies, and you swallow thickly, another sob shaking your chest as you turn your head further away from him, voice cracking with pain.
“where did my husband go?” you asked. the words land like a punch straight to his chest. rafe freezes completely, breath stuttering as they hit him deep, cutting through every layer of defensiveness and guilt until his face crumples.
his forehead presses harder into the crook of your neck, a broken sound escaping him as fresh tears soak your skin. his arms tighten around you almost painfully, body trembling as the weight of what he’s done crashes down on him all over again.
“i’m right here,” he whispers, voice wrecked and shaking. “i’m still here, baby. i’m so fucking sorry i left you like that.” he said. “i’ll be better. i’ll be the husband you deserve again. please. just don’t leave me. i can’t lose you.” he begged as he holds you tighter, crying with you quietly into your neck, the words you said echoing in his head as the ruined bedroom stays silent around you.
you keep crying beneath him, face still turned away as much as his hold allows. rafe presses closer, voice desperate and raw. “i’ll never do this again. i swear on my life. i’ll never hurt you like this again. i love you so much. i’ll be everything you need. i’m so sorry.” he continued.
you shake your head slowly, tears streaming. “i don’t believe you,” you whisper.
rafe sighs softly, pained, his breath shaky against your ear. “i’ll never do this again. i love you so much. i’ll be everything you need. i’m so sorry.” he said, brows furrowed. “i’m so sorry, i’m so sorry, i’m so so so sorry baby.” he says as he repeats the words like a prayer, voice breaking.
you shake your head side to side, refusing to believe him, eyes squeezed shut as fresh waves of pain hit you.
“i promise i will never do this again,” rafe begs, forehead still pressed to you, tears falling steadily. “please forgive me, baby. please.” he begged more. you shake your head harder, no, the sobs ripping through you so violently now that you’re barely managing to breathe.
your chest heaves, short shallow gasps that sound terrifying even to your own ears. your skin feels burning hot against his, flushed and feverish from the breakdown. rafe notices immediately, eyes widening with worry. “okay, okay.” he starts. “breathe, baby. just breathe for me.” he said.
he shifts carefully, still keeping you pinned but gentler now, hands moving quickly as he pulls your shirt up and off over your head, tossing it aside into the mess. your hands go to cover your breasts, still looking away.
then he works your shorts down your legs, stripping them away until you’re left in just your panties, hoping the cool air on your overheated skin will help. his palms press flat against your bare sides, rubbing slow circles as he hovers over you, lovingly, not lustfully.
“breathe, slow, okay? in and out. i’ve got you. just calm down for me, please. i’m right here. breathe, baby.” he keeps murmuring softly, hands gentle on your hot skin, watching your face with desperate, tear filled eyes as you struggle to pull air into your lungs, still shaking your head weakly through the sobs.
you stay beneath him, chest still rising and falling in shaky, uneven breaths. rafe leans in and gently kisses the fresh tears sliding down your cheeks, his lips soft and careful as they catch the salt. his thumbs follow, wiping the wetness from your skin with slow, tender strokes.
slowly, almost without thinking, your arms lift and wrap around his neck, his chest pressing against your bare boobs. you hug him softly, fingers curling weakly into the back of his shirt as you hold on, not crying as hard anymore but still letting out quiet, soft sobs that shake your body every few seconds.
rafe shakes his head over and over, voice thick. “i don’t deserve you. i know i don’t.”
another tear slips down your cheek. he catches it with his thumb before it can reach your jaw, brushing it away. “look at me for one second. please,” he begs, but you still don’t. your eyes stay fixed somewhere over his shoulder, distant and glassy. his chest tightens painfully.
“i’d take it back if i could,” he swallows hard. “i swear to god, i’d erase it. every second of it.” his forehead rests briefly against yours. “i know you don’t believe a fucking word i say right now… you shouldn’t.” he comments.
a shaky breath escapes him. “but i’m not leaving.” he reassures, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. “you can scream at me. hate me. tell me to get the fuck out.” his voice cracks. “i’ll hear every word.” he says.
he then looks at you like he’s trying to memorize your face. “i’ll spend the rest of my life earning back what i threw away… if you’ll ever let me.” his thumb traces beneath your eye again. “i miss you already… and you’re right here.” he admits with a single, bitter laugh through his tears. “that’s how bad i fucked this up.”
another tear slips down your cheek. just seeing it makes his own breathing hitch. “you’ve got every reason in the world to hate me,” he says, jaw clenching. “i’m still gonna love you.” he whispers to you.
you remain silent, arms still loosely around his neck, soft cries slipping out every now and then. rafe nods to himself, accepting it.
“you don’t have to say anything,” he whispers, then another quiet pause. “you don’t have to forgive me today.” his fingers tremble against your cheek. “or tomorrow.” he closes his eyes for a moment. “i just— i need you to know there wasn’t a day you weren’t enough.” his voice almost disappears.
“this wasn’t because you weren’t enough.” he shakes his head immediately. “it was because i made a selfish decision.” he inhales sharply. “that’s on me. not you.” he clarifies.
when you still don’t respond, he simply keeps wiping away the tears as they come, slow and patient. “you don’t have to listen,” he tells you. a long silence stretches from him. “i’ll keep saying i’m sorry anyway.”
he stays there, holding you close, thumbs gently brushing your wet cheeks while your soft, exhausted cries fill the quiet space between you.
you hug him tighter, arms wrapping fully around his neck as your wet cheeks press together. rafe buries his face into the crook of your neck, breathing you in, then trails slowly down until his head rests on your bare chest, ear pressed to your boobs, listening to the frantic beat of your heart.
“okay,” you say simply, voice hoarse and small. “i love you,” you whisper. rafe hugs you even tighter, arms locking around your waist like he’s scared you’ll disappear. “i love you more.” he said.
you sniffle, wiping at your tear streaked face with the back of your hand before grabbing his face with both palms. you pull him up and kiss him slowly, passionately, pouring everything left in you into it. rafe kisses you back just as deep, whispering between breaths and soft presses of lips. “i love you so much… i love you so much, baby.”
your hands slide down, tugging at his dark blue polo. he helps you pull it over his head, tossing it aside. he kicks off his shorts and boxers quickly, leaving him bare against you. rafe pulls back just enough to look you in the eyes, brows furrowed with gentle concern, thumb stroking your cheek. “are you sure you want this?”
you nod softly, reaching down to start sliding your panties off. rafe sits up a little, helping you the rest of the way, peeling them down your legs and off completely. he leans back in, pressing soft little pecks to your lips, your jaw, your neck.
he breaks the kisses to look down between your bodies, watching carefully as he lines himself up with you. you lean up, kissing along his neck, legs spreading wider around his hips.
rafe pushes into you slowly, spreading you open, your legs hooked over his lower arms as he holds you open for him. your mouth drops open in a silent gasp at the stretch. he fucks into you with slow, deep, passionate strokes, savoring every inch. “it hurts,” you whisper, voice catching. rafe swallows hard, forehead dropping to yours. “i know, i’m sorry… i’ll go slower.”
he slows even more, thick size making you push yourself upward a little, struggling to take all of him as your body adjusts. his hips roll gently, careful and loving, eyes never leaving your face as he moves inside you, the room filled with nothing but your soft breaths and the quiet sounds of skin against skin.
you whine softly as he sinks a little deeper, the stretch intense, cussing under your breath as you continue to take every thick inch of him, soft whimpers keep slipping out of you, body trembling around him.
rafe notices, his hands sliding under your back as he picks you up carefully and slowly flips you both. he ends up laid flat on the bed with you on top, legs straddling his lap, your chest pressed flush against his. he did it so it wouldn’t hurt you as much, giving you more control.
your head dips into his shoulder, whimpering against his skin as you adjust to the new angle. “deeper,” you plead, voice shaky. rafe hesitates, hands gripping your hips gently. “baby, you can barely—”
you cut him off, desperate. “baby please.” you beg. he nods, swallowing hard, and pushes deeper. you gasp sharply, a loud moan tearing from your throat as he fills you completely. his cock makes you feel so full, knees pressing tight into his sides while your hips start to roll, moaning softly right in his ear. “just like that,” you moan, breath hot against him.
rafe bites his lip, fucking up into you at the same pace and depth, steady and deep. his lips brush your cheek and ear with soft kisses. “just like that?” he echoes, teasing, voice low and rough as your brows furrow in pleasure. he’s hitting that perfect spot inside you with every roll of his hips.
“just like that,” you confirm, moaning while biting your lip, body moving against him as the pain melts into nothing but heat and need.
you keep moving on top of him, moaning softly, your mouth open just slightly as whimpers slip out between every breath. rafe’s hands grip your hips tighter, encouraging you in that low, rough voice you love. “that’s it, baby. you’re doing so good. just like that. taking me so fucking well.” he coos.
you rock your hips back and forth harder, pressing down until he bottoms out completely inside you, the fullness making your eyes roll back. “i can’t take it, i can’t take it,” you cry out, voice breaking into a long moan as the pleasure borders on too much. “you can,” rafe assures you, lips brushing your ear, breath hot and steady. “just relax, baby. breathe. you’re doing perfect.”
you nod quickly, trusting him completely, and keep moving at that deep, steady pace, the orgasm building fast and intense inside you. your moans grow louder, broken and needy, until everything snaps.
you cum hard around him, moaning loud and shattered as your walls clench tight, warm liquid coating his shaft as your body shakes on top of him. the orgasm leaves you gasping, but you’re not done. “more please, god, more please,” you beg, voice wrecked.
rafe nods, kissing you in soft, quick pecks as he carefully pulls out of you. he picks you up effortlessly, strong arms turning you around so you’re sitting on his lap with your back pressed to his chest.
he sits up fully, one arm hooked around your throat to hold you firmly in place. the moment he slides back into you from behind, your jaw drops immediately, a broken sound escaping as his thick, long cock drives even deeper into your pussy.
you can barely manage words anymore, just loud, desperate moans that echo around the ruined bedroom while he fucks up into you. your hands scramble to hold onto his arm around your neck, legs shaking violently on either side of his thighs. rafe grunts low in your ear with every thrust, the sound filthy and raw.
his tongue slides up the side of your throat, tasting the salt of your skin, and you moan even louder, head tipping back against his shoulder. the new angle has him hitting so deep it makes your vision blur, just the sound of your broken moans is enough to push him close, but he doesn’t stop, hips snapping up steadily, driving his cock into you over and over.
the feeling built up again so quickly, your moans climb higher and louder, gaining volume as your nails dig into his arm. “i’m gonna cum, i’m gonna cum!” you moan out, voice hoarse. rafe kisses whatever part of your face he can reach from behind, soft and loving even as he fucks you senseless. “cum,” he growls in your ear, giving you permission. “cum for me, baby.”
you nod frantically, body obeying instantly. you cum hard again, moaning loud and broken as warm liquid spills around his cock, your walls pulsing tight around him. your legs shake uncontrollably, back arching against his chest as the orgasm rips through you, leaving you trembling and gasping in his hold.
rafe keeps fucking you through it, arm still hooked gently but firmly around your throat, lips pressed to your shoulder and neck as he praises you in that low, wrecked voice. the room is filled with the wet sounds of sex, your loud moans, and his deep grunts, both of you lost in each other in the middle of the destroyed bedroom.
