Rafael was born to a Venezuelan telenovela star and an American producer. His mother had met his father when she tried to branch out into American film and television but never quite made it. Though her career didn't pan out in the way she wanted, she was still relatively famous in Venezuela throughout Rafael's childhood. His father also had quite a few hits. So Rafael still grew up in the industry.

He knew he wanted to be an actor from a young age. Taking on stage plays and auditioning for commercials. Sometimes his dad got him into bit roles in movies that he was producing. Like his mom, though, he just couldn't catch a break in the US. It wasn't until he was twenty that he started to become more relevant to people. He joined the cast of "Nepo Babies" a reality show about, well, nepo babies.

The show would continue on for years, but Rafael's stay only lasted two seasons. When his contract was up he chose not to renew it and wanted to stick to his passion for acting. The show proved helpful in that it got his name out there. He just didn't like playing a fake version of himself and didn't get along with some of his coworkers behind the scenes, namely Ford Tamblyn. Some fans also criticized that his parents weren't famous enough for him to be on the show so the split was amicable.

For the next decade he got parts here and there. Some appearances on shows lasting longer than others. A couple of indies that got him quiet awards but the buzz would die down soon after. In the midst of this, he met Oriana Perez on a red carpet. The two of them ended up talking all night and the rest was history. He never felt so connected to anyone and he knew early on that he wanted to marry her and he genuinely thought she felt the same. So after dating awhile he proposed. She said yes and he thought their future was set in stone. Until she walked out on him.

Rafael has spent the last year working on building his career and healing his heart. One of which has come much easier. Recently he got a role on a show called Coastal Ground. While not a reboot of the OC many have said it has a lot of similarities to one that never got off the ground. Despite these similarities, the show has proved promising and has already started to film. Great for Rafael's career. Not so great is that many of its scenes are being filmed in the town of Aurora Bay. Where Oriana is from and currently lives. He really couldn't pass up such a good career opportunity but he has mixed feelings about being in Oriana's hometown.

"Now I'm wondering if you're calling me old," he jokes, though he's not exactly lying. "Alright, fair enough, I'd try to impress you and say that I've heard of them, but I wouldn't even know where to begin." He thought of himself as a decent actor but he wasn't much for improv. "No, I'm just not very not very good at remembering faces." She normally didn't care to remember faces. "Maybe you should listen to some Turkish bands. They're really great. I love all of them." She loved dancing around to her favorite bands even if not many people here could understand the lyrics. "I'd hope so. He's one of those English speaking people," Adile said it as if it was an insult, but she was joking. "Okay, then who's your favorite?"

"That's an actual thing isn't it? Where people can't recognize faces. I don't remember what it's called. They say Brad Pitt has it and that's probably why he always dresses like his girlfriends." Rafael hasn't fact checked any of this, but he's also not claiming it to be absolute truth. "Make me a playlist and I'll consider it?" Raf takes in a deep breath, almost reluctant to share his favorite, "Adam Levine, or Maroon 5." He pauses, allowing for imaginary boos, "I know he's tattooed like a Chipotle bag and he is kind of a dickhead, maybe even cancelled? I don't know, but fuck it. I like his music." @adiletopal

"I always wanted to be one of those craft beer people, but — and maybe this is just me being uncultured — IPAs taste like fuckin' soap to me." Mavis grabbed a small glass from the flight between her and the person across and slid it over. "Seriously, is that appealing to you? Be honest."

"Maybe you just haven't found the right one for you?" he counters, cupping his own mug of beer between his hands. "What's your poison?" Rafael catches the glass and holds it up to his mouth, "you don't have cooties do you?" There's a lot to take in after his sip and he wonders if he's being pranked, "why does this taste like my body wash smells?"

Either way, he's wishing that he hadn't stopped at this station for gas. Raf knows that everyone's got to get their bread and some jobs are worse than others, but seeing a hearse out in the open just feels wrong to him.

It didn’t really seem right, especially because he needed to grab the flowers the family had asked for as well. "I can't tell if you're joking or not," Rafael says, brows furrowed with suspicion, "it's not like I've run across many hearse." In fact, he's not sure he's ever seen one in person. "Hearses? What's the plural, my man?" Rolling his eyes, "okay, got it. You're just messing with me."

She shot a glare his direction. Oriana didn't get why he was being huffy with her when his phone wasn't even getting any signal. "See that. That right there is why you piss me off. You have the phone, you see it isn't working, and then you get annoyed at me for not knowing a phone number that you could very well have yourself if your phone worked but it doesn't because you know very well that it doesn't have any signal." She was talking in circles, but she didn't care. He shouldn't get mad at her for something that isn't going to work in the first place.

"Whatever." Oriana hadn't been serious about that suggestion. She looked around the room. "Well if you're so concerned about getting to your date you could crawl out that window." It was one of those tiny half windows. He'd have to stand on a table to get to it. "You can make your date and bonus I'd still be locked in here." Because she wasn't going to climb out any window in the skirt she was wearing. If Raf was looking for a reaction to him going on a date, he was not going to get one from her. She didn't care.

"Everything about me pisses you off," he remarks, an over exaggeration if there ever was one, "sorry, yeah, fuck me I guess... I'm always the asshole." Actually, yeah, he usually was. "Mine doesn't have signal, but maybe yours would. I don't fucking know, Or."

Raf can't help but laugh at the suggestion, "I can't fit through there." Maybe he could, but he thinks she'd fit better. "You'd probably kick the table out from underneath me." Something irks him, though, and he can't leave it alone, "and for the record, even if I did get out, it doesn't mean I'd actually leave you behind. I'd send someone to get you."

"My dad thought I used to purposefully mix up the old men he introduced me to, but I could hardly tell half of them apart." Adile laughed and shrugged. She did have a bit of blindness when it came to faces although sometimes it had been on purpose with her father's politican friends. "Not really. Most people don't know the bands that I mention because well most of them are Turkish. I highly doubt you've heard of Pinhâni." She'd be shocked if he had. In fairness, up until this point he actually really didn't know that it was considered, but now he feels like he would be lying if he said otherwise. Hutch had been filling the hearse with gas before he was about to head back to the funeral home and he had been sort of lost in thought. There was a really good song on the radio and he was humming it so that he didn’t forget it before he could figure out who sang it. His thoughts getting away from him had him nearly jumping at the comment behind him. “ huh what?” He said turning around quickly looking for the offending image but then realized the man meant the hearse. “ oh yeah that “ he said with a smile

"Oh, my god," Rafael says, disbelief on his face as he realizes what kind of car is front of him at the pump. "Please tell me there isn't a body in there."

Just looking at it is giving him the creeps.

"How can you go to a costume party and not notice the costumes?" Mac questions, bewildered, but she decides to let the questioning slide.

Even if it was bizarre to her -- what else were you supposed to do at a costume party?

"Oh, really? What kinda of show?" she questions before adding.

"You ever notice how there's, like, too many shows? Like how can you possibly watch everything?"

"I was trying to avoid someone," he answers, "but ran into them anyway." Rafael considers her observation, reluctantly admitting that she had a point, "but maybe I should have been looking at the costumes instead. So, yeah, you got me there."

Rafael chooses his words carefully, "I'm not really allowed to reveal too much, but it's about a group of teenagers who live near the beach and no, I'm not playing one them." Not quite old enough to play one of the parents, but too old to play a teenager.

"As an actor it's probably wise for me to not complain too much about the amount of shows that I can audition for, but I'll admit there's a lack of original content. I've lost track of how many shows I've auditioned for that have the same premise."
