Ok but in all seriousness I'm having a lot of issues irl rn. I started a 2nd job a couple of months ago and ever since then I'm worked to the bone and have little to no free time and I've been dealing with a lot of stress. I need to prioritise my rl relationships and my mental health above everything else so even if i didn’t hate tumblr now, i’d still be stepping back. I don't know if/when I'll be back and i'll most likely be deleting both this blog and my previous blog (neferpittoarchive) soon to remove the temptation of coming back before I'm ready. I'm so thankful for all the friends I've made here, if I ever do come back I'll reach out to you guys again and I'm so sorry for not messaging you all this individually. Ok wait before I go i just need to talk about the sheer fucking hypocrisy in this fandom

At first I literally could not understand how anyone could possibly see an ichiruki moment in ch 666, and I was feeling genuine embarrassment for you guys cos holy fuck it’s sad that you guys are so starved of material that you see their names being mentioned in the same sentence a “moment”. but from what I gather, the reason IRs are making such a big deal of Urahara saying Ichigo and Rukia’s names is bc IRs think this means that Rukia is going to have a more prominent role in the story from now and that she and ichigo will be going on to fight yhwach together and you’ll be seeing them team up or something

ignoring the massive amounts of reaching in place, the reason this is so ridiculous is because in ch661, literally FIVE CHAPTERS AGO, we had it actually confirmed that ichigo and orihime are the ones going up against yhwach together. and we didnt even have to stretch a tiny bit of dialogue reeeeally far to get to this; kubo literally drew ichigo and orihime on their way to fight him. yet we were called delusional for celebrating over this.

Ichigo did go to HM to fight, in a sense. It’s not like saying that is necessarily untrue, however by simplifying his motivations behind going to HM as “he went there to fight”, not only are you hugely ignoring the Ichigo/Orihime friendship because of your shipping bias, but you’re also making Ichigo look like a complete jackass who doesn’t care if one of his friends dies (so long as he gets to fight, right?). Nice.

Mostly, I get the impression of a show that doesn’t know how not to escalate.

Every threat’s gotta be quantitatively bigger and badder than the one that came before. Every deus ex machina’s gotta be shinier than the last one. Every season’s gotta end with a massive eleventh-hour powerup for our heroes, only for the next season to raise the stakes enough to put them back in the underdog position.

It’s like, you beat the Devil himself? Well, now you’ve gotta fight the Devil’s cousin Phil, who has conveniently gone entirely unmentioned up until now, but he’s totally twice as evil.
