Mari Vs the Rain World
Mari tried to remember the last thing that happened, he really did, but everything was dark. His head hurt and it was cold. It was cold, and wet, and humid, and the smells didn't help. It inherently smelled of rain, metal and rust; as Mari took a deep breathe and thats when he noticed something else, a new smell, the smell of a cat or something. Eventually, Mari opened his eyes, squinting at the dull brightness around him that caused his headache to spike. With a wince, he rubbed his eyes a bit, only to look down and realize-
"These arent my hands... these are-" His head shot up as he looked around himself. Broken machinery and a post apocalyptic vibe, a few plants but its more like mushrooms if anything, "I know this place... this- this is.."
Mari ran to the nearest pooling of water, looking into its oily surface just to get a glimpse of their reflection. That's when he realized it was a dream come true, they really are a slugcat! And this is THEE Rain World! This is the beggining of their favorite game since they were a kid! They let out a giddy scream, then they paused. ...This is RAIN WORLD, a game known for being hard to beat; he remembered all the harsh times he had, being defeated by the game, whether it be the lizards or the leviathan, this game is HARS. The thought of facing those in reality was terrifying! He couldnt fight those, no matter how much he wanted to lie to himself and say he could take it, how could he?! Then there was a grumble. Mari quickly looked around only to realize: "Oh, right... food. I need food." He looked around for something, anything, maybe some fruit? Mari knew the game had fruit, and it was the closest thing they had to real world food. Unfortunately, after a few minutes of scampering about, it was safe to say there was nothing. "Great!" He thought to himself angrily. "So what? I got brought here, to my FAVORITE GAME, only to starve? Where's the fun in that!" They kicked a peice of rubble out of hunger and rage only for it to fly up and hit something. A batfly... would he really eat it... could he really eat a living thing...? Absolutely.
It was a once in the lifetime opportunity, who wouldn't!! As he ate the batfly it reminded him of cooked chicken, it wasnt the worst but it wasnt the best. It was kinda morally wrong to eat a living thing, but what could he do, a mans got to eat somehow- or well, a slugcat...
After eating, Mari decided to travel around, going through the tunnels. Thats when they get to a ledge, in game youre supposed to long jump, but this isnt the game. Ne looked at the ground beneath him and how much it would hurt to fall, as he crouched down and prepared himself to pounce. He took a deep breath in, holding it for a few second before- ...He gripped the ledge, barely making it as he hoisted himself up. He sighed in relief and kept moving on. Mari went through a few pipes as before finding himself in a small enclosed spot with several more batflies. To make a gruesome story short, he gobbled them all up, not even remorsing as he licked his lips. Thats when there was a rumbling. He knew what this ment.
"Crap crap crap!! Shelter! I need shelter!" One important thing to know about Rain World, is the fact its rain is DEADLY, and you know its comming when you can feel and hear the rumble. Mari climbed back through the pipes and tunnels looking for a spot that would typically mean a space point. "Come on! Come on!! Where is it?!" Then, at the corner of his eye, he saw it, a pipe he missed in his initial run around the place, the ground is shaking now, rumbling louder. He ran into the pipe as quick as he could, then he got into a small space, a typical save point, a place to hibernate, and Mari did just that. Laying down, exhausted from running about, his headache still prominent. "It wouldnt hurt to have a little nap...right?" He thought as he yawned. He closed his eyes, and as the world went black, he felt his body relax.
When he opened his eyes again, he was back home, in bed. He still had a headache, but it wasn't all that bad anymore. "It must have been a dream," Mari muttered. "I never had a dream that realistic though... I wonder if I might be able to go back again... it was scary, but... it was fun." He softly smiled to himself as he stretched to get ready for the day.
