So.... the new teaser intro for Super Why's Comic Book Adventures came out....
AND I LOVE IT SO FAR! OH MY GOSH, I WAS SHAKING WITH EXCITEMENT!!
(Spoilers down below for the intro!!)
First of all, this looks so fun to look at. We're probably looking at other episodes in the background, but our main focus is the center comic.
I LOVE how exaggerated and cartoony this artstyle is. If you watched the original show from the 2000s, then you might remember the lack of facial expressions or the stiffness of their bodies in certain scenes: well, we no longer have to worry about that as they're fully animated in this still shot!
Oh, and I adore their new outfits!! But I'll get into them later ;3
The Book Club (I think that it's it) got a MASSIVE upgrade, holy cow. I dunno if there's still the old Book Club in Storybrook Village or if this is just the Reader Valley Headquarters (the intro doesn't give us a lot of lore as of the moment), but I like how it looks! Very Hall of Justice vibes I'm getting.
AAAAAAAAAHHHH ITS THE SQUAD ALL TOGETHER AGAIN!!
I love how the intro signifies their friendship here: I remember back when people used to say Power Paige "stole" Alpha Pig's spot in the squad, but look whose to the upper right of Power Paige? Yep, it's Alpha Pig!! They were always friends! He was just taking a vacation :3
Also, I'll get into their outfits! I like how compared to the original, who were very 2000s coded with the styles and fashion, these feel very minimalist and comparable to vibes of current day. I love how they all have matching speech bubbles on their suits with their respective logos/character traits.
Wonder Red: Sound/Sound Waves
Princess Presto: Magic Wand
Also, I'm so happy they fixed Princess Presto's skin color and gave her something that suites her princess title (cute little tutu). I know her gown is iconic, but I don't think it would be the best to fight in 😭
The same goes for all of them: their outfits definitely feel easier to fight in and more appropriate for battles. I have no idea what kind of shenanigans are gonna happen in this show, but I'm certain it'll be more action packed than the original show!
I love how this action-packed shot looks: and I ADORE that Power Paige's weapon, her Power Pencil, doubles as a pole vault! That'll definitely came in handy in missions! Also, Alpha Pig's propeller hat comes back and it's as adorable as always!
The villians are back, baby! More unhinged than ever! Except for the Shuffler, whose serving cunt right now. I'm a little sad they got rid of More Man's (or Mr. More's) stubble, but I'm happy they still kept him beefy. More for me hehe.
Lesbians, that's all I gotta say.
Sorry for the bad quality, but this looks like the final shot before the episode plays and I love it! Everyone is ready for battle (Princess Presto with her Spelling Wand, Power Paige with her oversized Power Pencil, Alpha Pig with his Letter Lasso) and they're prepared to help the next generation of kids learn to read, write, and know their words!
Annnnnnddddd, that's all I got to say! The full show comes out in the fall, so I'll be sure to see that when it comes out! Although this new show aims for a slightly older audience, I doubt it'll stray away too much from it's original messages of learning. Maybe we'll get a bit of lore for why this show takes place in the Comic Book world/Ready Valley, or that Woofster has seemingly been retconned from this spin-off. Who knows?
All I got to say is that I've never been more excited for a superhero show until now!!
