@rainbownestmedia
also im never going to not be fascinated by the way much ado gets SO close to being a tragedy. the breaking into factions, the duel emerging between claudio and benedick, the way hero really could have almost died of grief or despair like many other shakespeare heroines and how the narrative really plays with this as a possibility!!! what would it have been like if it was true!!! what would it have been like if everyone in the play really was driven mad by grief!!

[edited to add: I am not the Twitter OP. 😅 If you want to see my David Tennant cosplay, go ⬇️ here]
This is my second Crowley cosplay. This was my first Crowley cosplay last year. It was unfortunately 82F the day I was wearing this, so my b
it is funny because on the one hand much ado is like this remarkably poignant play about love and betrayal and the subjection of women who had no legal means to appeal their charges for very large portions of human history resulting in violent conflicts that tear apart families and societies and this ending is only combatted by the love and trust that benedick and beatrice are able to show each other despite evidently a lot of woundedness in their past. on the other hand the main conflict arises because of this guy’s bastard brother named don john who exclusively talks about how evil he is and is resolved by a bumbling sheriff named dogberry who delivers a heartfelt monologue about how he is an ass
If you ever wanted to be a hero in an epic fantasy adventure then I highly recommend you check out 13th Age 2e by Pelgrane Press. To help you get into it allow me to introduce How to Make a Character in 13th Age 2e: The Short Version.
welcome to the horizon has presented the wonderful scenario of “the doppelgänger of the most wanted criminal in the triad is walking around an earth theme park” and I for one hope that creates so many problems down the line
Elden comforting Deidre by saying "you had a human reaction. You can do this." Was actually what I needed to hear today so thanks Midnight Burger crew
happy pride to jamie moriarty's 10ft tall portrait of joan watson. only.
Oh also while I'm in a Midnight Burger mood:
I'll forever be obsessed with the fact that this show has not one, but two characters who are Normal Guys, who very much enjoy being Normal Guys, and are yet constantly thrust into all of this crazy sci-fi shit against their will
To say nothing of the fact that one of them is over 170 years old and the other is literally unkillable
Anyone out there want to tell me what it is they feel makes a zombie media count as zombie media?
Do the zombies have to meet certain criteria to count? ie. do they have to eat brains, or just flesh, or nothing? Does there have to have been a physical virus or can it be psychological? Do they have to die or can they just be mutants?
Are there certain plot beats that have to occur? ie. does it have to result in an all out apocalypse? Does there have to be the secretly bitten survivor hiding from everyone else? does the plucky protagonist have to try and save someone even if its dangerous just to maintain their own sense of self? is the gore-y action survival stuff a must have or something that can be worked around depending on the zombie type?
Does it have to be addressing a certain kind of societal issue? Like poverty, colonialism, or populism? Or is it a broader blanker canvas?
What to you. Counts as zombie media. What would you recommend as the epitome of zombie media in action?

>Predominately Black led piece of media becomes popular.
>Among the characters there are one or two White characters with minor and/or distinctly antagonistic roles.
>White tumblr users focus entirely on said White characters.
>Tag of Black led piece of media is filled with posts about White character(s)
>Rinse. Repeat.
Rinse. Repeat
Don’t leave this in the tags!
it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!

okay no one asked but I wanna share some cool indie games that are criminally underrated and you should go play.
Elsinore - you play as Ophelia, trapped in the story of Hamlet and trying to avoid tragedy in a world that constantly seems to be at risk of unraveling. It changed my life and genuinely got me to enjoy hamlet when we were reading it in high school. the desperate inevitability of tragedy really sunk home for me cause of the medium chosen here. I love it, it is genuinely incredible and I really appreciate what it has to say about interactive storytelling in general.
A Story Beside - it genuinely makes me sad not that many people know about this one. You play as a regular villager growing up during a very JRPG 'ancient evil is awakening that only the hero can stop' plot, who may never become the hero herself, but still manages to leave a great impact. I did not merely cry when I finished this game. I wept. furiously. Everyone go play it. please please please please plea-
I Was A Teenage Exocolonist - this one is also very good and though not as linear or tightly arranged as the other two (and so the actually very interesting things it tries to do are kinda lost to the mechanics), It is still made me very emotional. So. I highly recommend you never reload a save to make a different choice. Just stick with your choices each round, think that would make for the best emotional rollercoaster trip. I love everything about this universe, I love the style, I love the characters, I love the colors, I love the emotional gutpunch it delivered within the first hour of the game, and I love how each playthrough feels like working towards something.
now go play them. that's an order.
Elfbruary Day 8: Arwen the Smith
I noticed in my recent reread that the banner Arwen makes isn't described as embroidered or woven. It's described as "made" and "wrought." Words Tolkien uses for things made through smithcraft. And the materials mentioned for the banner are metals, not any specific cloth.
And then I remembered both the brooch she left for Aragorn in Lothlorien and that it isn't mentioned who reforged Narsil. Arwen is associated with smithcraft, so why not her? :)
I’ve been meaning to watch Cardcaptor Sakura for YEARS and this might be the post that pushes me to do it lol
