Spoilers for Wednesday S2 P2
So be warned....
...Did the writers lowkey just read a shit ton of wenclair fanfic and compile a ton of the stuff everyone typically enjoyed and then somehow made a worse product? Like there's no way we got Enid being an Alpha, Wednedsay making a character for Enid in her book NAMED EVELYN (shout out to the people who predicted THAT), Enid being a dancer, Agnes being a Wenclair child, Wednesday's mommy issues, body swaps, WEDNESDAY ACTUALLY BEING ALLERGIC TO COLOUR, and like, a lot of other stuff but somehow only half of it hit and the rest of the writing was kinda mid. I did thoroughly enjoy this season, but honestly probably would not have if it weren't for the wonderful acting from jenna, emma, evie, gwendoline, and catherine.
Ok, so pretty much the writers suck, jenna lied, and I understand why emma was so depressed the entire press tour.
Classic case of love the ship hate the shippers....
Behind every gay is an even pinker gay
Idk how to explain it but she looks more like Jenna than Wednesday in this photo
NEW LOOK AT WEDNESDAY & ENID IN S2 PART2 🩷🖤
TOOO many thoughts about this because what do you MEAN we're getting the literal gomezification of Enid Sinclair?! What do you MEAN when Enid and Wednesday fall in the graveyard scene, they're still angled towards each other?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY GET SCREEN TIME TOGETHER IN THE S2 MASKED-BALL!?!?!?!
The queerbaiting is so unreal in this season like what are we even doing anymore
lowkey
one of the best things is seeing someone comment on a fic of yours, viewing their profile to see if they've written anything then finding out they're the author of one of your favourite fics.
extra points if they've written multiple over different fandoms.
Like, reading one of my favourite Arcane fics and then finding out the author also wrote this awsome Bishova one shot is the best.
So...
Who was gonna tell me we gonna get these two mfs back in Avengers: Doomsday?
Was too late to vote, would still love to hear your thoughts on Kenji and Nonna. God knows Kenji deserves a loving Italian grandma after the dumpsterfire that was his father; my actual hot take is that I'm sick of people treating Daniel like some sympathetic figure when he was, at best, someone who loved his son but not enough to stop manipulating him until it was too late. I hope Kenji gets lots of lovely scenes with Nonna, and maybe even find a proper father figure too!
Hey Anon! Yeah, sorry i've been a bit busy lately, but since you asked so nicely!
It's so interesting to me how they made Kenji the character that whenever all seems lost and everyone he values disappears, life literally throws a new person at him like "Here! Have more emotional support!" Ima take a risk and make an arcane parallel here (pls don't come @ me lmao) similar to the way the story/narrative treated Jinx through the seasons. Parents are dead? Here, have vander! Vander dead? Siblings dead? Vi gone? Here! Have another father figure who's literally the king of the undercity to protect and raise you! Killed him? Sister still gone? Here! Have his left hand woman and a random kid to bring you back to the good ol' days! Kid dies? Let's give you a love interest! See where I'm going? Specifically about Nonna though, I just love that they didn't make her or Gia evil. Or...at least where it mattered. She did accidentally or not accidentally lose Smoothie. But she didn't know any of the Nublar 5, they were just some random 20 year olds that showed up at her doorstep (sans Ben, who I guess she'd probably at least heard of but still), to take in 5 practically teenagers into your home and give them good food and a place to stay? Not a lot of people would do that. I think people forget a lot that Kenji is actually really close to Darius' mom, and likely has been missing the daily calls they had. Especially with a strained relationship with his father and an absent mother, he probably craves a maternal figure more than a paternal one, now more than ever, and Nonna gives him that. She sees that something is hurting in him and immediately just adopts him, similar to the way the MBallo's did with Sammy (plotwise and character-wise, they filled the emotional hole she had due to her fight with her family).
It also seems kind of evident that 1. Nonna no longer has a husband, and 2. She has no nephew or son that we are aware of. I'm not positive if it's something she ever wanted, but the way she treats Kenji kind of makes it seem like he's a version of a son she never had (I.E. "She said I'm a growing boy" "She never lets me eat those fresh out of the garden!"). I think the writers did a really good job with this relationship and I'm excited to see if it'll be explored more in the final season or not, but I think it's obvious they both needed each other.
hope you liked my thoughts on this, I'm always open to discussion!

-----------------------------------------------------------------
I'm still on Yaz' side. Like, respectively, i can 100 per cent see where Sammy is coming from, but the more I think of it the more I'm like...
Both of them seem to have the toxic trait of being avoidant, except Yaz is like an anxious avoidant and Sammy is an angry avoidant. Most of the arguments Sammy has boils down to her trying to put blame on someone else and I don't mean in the normal "Oh, it's your fault", I mean "I can't take the blame for one more thing and pretend to be positive about it" kind of blame. We see this in the whole "Brooklynn chose where she is, who she's with and she doesn't want us, she didn't tell us she was alive - or it's her fault and we don't have to deal with it". We also see it in the backstory with how she and her family fell out. There's a whole lot more on that as well but going back to the shifting blame thing.
For Yaz, who even in track had so many people relying on her - and probably took a good amount of blame because of it - and now feels guilty because of how her PTSD has affected everyone around her (AKA going to Wyoming), both of them can't really seem to be able to deal with how to process every bad thing that happens.
Since the series started it's obvious that the timing between these two just hasn't been the same because to be real, their arguments have been pretty justifiable and most of the time true. The trauma that Sammy went through with her family is still prominent and it's clear she's still very deeply hurt about it. Yaz still has the mindset that she has to be able to fix things and doesn't really take other's intentions or emotions into account much like she did back in JWCC.
The only difference is I feel like Yaz is actively trying her best. She starts all of the conversations where she's trying to see Sammy's side in the least aggressive way she can and it ends up escalating. Of course she makes mistakes, but it's clear she is at least trying to see Sammy's point of view. But Sammy doesn't see it that way because Yaz doesn't agree with her and Yaz for the life of her literally cannot figure out how to be there for Sam on an emotional level.
For this season specifically, Sammy is also super passive-aggressive to completely blatantly aggressive in the way she talks and repeatedly ignores Yaz even when we see multiple shots of Yaz being concerned for her.
I do think this was a catalyst season for all of the characters' plotlines and emotional connections and hopefully everything will be resolved by the fourth season. lowkey don't think Netflix and DreamWorks would handle the backlash if they "buried the gays" and had Ben and Gia be the only standing ship after (or even Dinostar and Kenji/Brooklynn) although I do like those two a lot.
Anyway, this is just my thoughts, I still love both of the characters. Yaz will always be my girl, Sammy will always be my favourite Texican. Let me know your thoughts as well if you want!
I'm still on Yasmina's side as well. It's one thing to have somebody leave and then process it with therapy, which is what Yasmina did. It's another to have somebody leave and then become an angry person without trying to process it, which is what Sammy did. I understand, and have experienced multiple times, the trauma of somebody who suddenly leaves.
Yasmina and I put in the work though. We went to therapy, we learned skills, and learned how to use our words instead of just being alone and angry. Sammy is angry at Brooklynn and her family for leaving her, and it has consumed her.
Yasmina and Sammy have switched personalities from 2015 to 2022. Being forced to suddenly be alone is traumatic, and it's the opposite of what happened to Yasmina when she first got to Nublar.
But it was Sammy, who has a big family, who taught Yasmina, who only had her mother, how to lean on her family. Along with the other Nublar Four who taught her teamwork and emotional help. So Yasmina's new skills have culminated in her insistence on waiting out Brooklynn's plan, which conflicts with Sammy's new instincts to leave Brooklynn to her devices.
I was with Yasmina through the whole season. I think she was in the right. Not in all the ways, like her calling Sammy a coward, but in others, like repeatedly and politely trying to convince her. Yasmina tried to help Sammy the way Sammy had helped her, but ultimately, Sammy didn't listen.
I didn't think it would end like this, and I'm heartbroken. I love these girls, and I want them to be okay. But looking back at Season One, I should have seen it coming.
love these thoughts, I 100 percent agree with all of them actually. I did see it coming from season 1, but as someone once told me "knowing a punch is coming doesn't make it hurt less" and I think that pretty much sums it up. Love u and stay strong <3
Oh another thing
Watching SWRVE's full spoiler review made me kinda realize why people thought Yasammy came outta nowhere and it's bc they straight asf.
Like think abt it. He says "They really gave off more of that deep girl best friend vibe" (paraphrasing here) which like, yes, if you have never been a sapphic, the clues would be subtle and hard to pick up on, especially in a kids show. The only reason a lot of the fandom picked up on it was - guess why - because it was relatable.
So now i'm a little less feral at the people who didn't see it coming but are still at least in support.
Calling Yaz proposing in the second season before it drops, who's with me?
Calling Yaz proposing in the third season before it drops, who's with me?
Well...I have some news
Y'alls
I wanna talk more hot takes abt Sammy and Yaz, Kenji and Nonna, THE HANDLER OMG MY SHAYLA but y'all decide which one I do first.
SO CHOOSE
Sam & Yaz (AKA doomed yuri)
Kenji and Nonna (Boy really collecting maternal figures like trading cards)
The Handler (Rest in the Carnotaurus' mouth)
i hope @raptorladylover6969 knows how much of an impact she has made on the fandom/our community (for me at least)... the whole last episode i was going "oh man raptorladylover6969 isn't gonna like this"
"She has the entire side of the fandom in a chokehold it's not even funny" I say while laughing and crying at the S3 ending
