Shoutout to Samantha Ong for this dope flyer design! ---------------------------------------------- HEY IMMIGRANT YOUTH OF COLOR/FAMILIES/EDUCATORS - IYECon 2016 is a month away! The annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference (IYECon) is an all day conference which aims to provide resources and tools to all youths and their families, regardless of their immigration status to be empowered and organize within their communities. Our theme, “Remember Our Roots, Fight for Liberation”, connects us not only to our migration history and the policies that forced many of us to migrate, but to a path where we can build towards joint liberation. It is a history of resistance within our countries, families, communities, schools, states, against policies that displaced people and changed the future of the immigration system. To be Rooted in Liberation means to resist and grow through our lived experiences and our shared past. We come from a legacy of fighters and movement builders, and we will continue to fight for our collective liberation. We invite you to share this event to anyone whom you think will benefit from this conference. We will be sharing resources, building community, and engaging in conversations on the role that higher education plays in overall community advancement and organizing. We hope to see you there! Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Child care and interpretation as well. ---------------------------------------------- Register here: bit.ly/IYECon2016 Volunteer with us here: bit.ly/iyecon2016volunteer Website: iyeconnyc.wix.com/iyecon Donate and help us out here: bit.ly/IYECon-2016 Contact us at: [email protected] #IYECon2016

Yet another #TBT b/c RAISE members do many things but we don't always remember to put them up on our social media! @_@
RAISE member Jenny and Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) staff attorney Annie Wang at the Asian Women Giving Circle's 10th year birthday party! RAISE shared the table with Joyce Yu-Jean Lee, the creator of a "Firewall" installation. Happy birthday to AWGC & thank you for having us and supporting our work!
#TBT Last Friday, RAISE members came together for a FRIENDSGIVING. Good ol' fashioned cheer amidst all the chaos & abrasive rhetoric against immigrants.

RAISE (Revolutionizing Asian American Immigrant Stories on the East Coast) and DRUM - South Asian Organizing Center are proud to announce AMPLIFY(HER), the first-ever zine by and for undocumented Asian women. AMPLIFY(HER) is a counter-narrative project that aims to empower and encourage women-led storytelling that is crucial to our identities and survival.
CALL FOR SUBMISSION
AMPLIFY(HER) is looking for art, prose, poetry, short stories, photography and/or mixed medium submissions from undocumented Asian women (including trans and gender non-conforming folks) on how they understand and navigate their intersecting identities in today's society. Drawing upon black feminist thought, we understand that we do not experience our gender, class, race/ethnicity, legal status, etc. individually, but melded into an experience singular to each of us.
We welcome all artists, of all ages, and strongly encourage inter-generational dialogue. Submissions may be submitted in any language with accompanying English translation. For each selected submission, the artist will receive $100 honorarium. The 2 artists selected for the cover or spread will each receive $150 honorarium. The selected pieces will be published in our zine, which will be available in print and online.
Deadline for submission: January 1, 2016
