WELCOME TO THE MAIN PAGE OF “THE RAISON D’ETRE” MIRROR!

At the moment, there’s a hiatus with this comic as we rework it to make a NEW tale, but it still provides all the pages made during its original run as the characters will only go through the mildest of modifications and the worldbuilding introduced in the original run will remain intact (it’s just the actual tale that will change)

Tumblr’s way of archiving is a little tedious for comics, though, so this post will also provide links to the beginnings of every chapter, for your convenience. Hope you enjoy the story, and look forward to some extra projects in the future! And check out Funari’s Raison tag for extras, like illustrations and bonus comics not featured here!

You said in your last update post that Raison 1.0 will stay up until the revival is ready to be kicked off. Does that mean that once the revival begins, the original comic will be wiped?

Nah, the original comic will stay, probably on this site! I've been thinking about using Comic Fury for the new version, to be honest. There's still stuff in 1.0 that are neat and still have the same world lore going on. Consider it like a cheat sheet for anything that gets a passing mention in 2.0?

Like, one thing I'm definitely working on with 2.0 is a condensed story. I'm going to focus on JUST the main thing I've wanted to tell. If I want to venture into other characters' stories, I will via side stories, instead of trying to cram them into the main plot and making the chapters get longer and longer...lol

The main story of Raison is Yukina figuring out some secrets about her family while dealing with an evil witch who seem to have connections with her as well.

Long time no post, huh?

Just changed a few things around the site. Not much, very minor. We're prepping to restart our brand. NOT THE COMIC (Not yet, anyway! Still working on that), but the BRAND.

First thing is getting rid of anything editable that said "Cloud Fourteen." It was a name picked for fun nearly 2 decades ago because "fourteen" is higher than "nine" (you know, from the phrase "on cloud nine?") But, unfortunately, "14" also means some pretty nasty, nazi things, and we don't wanna be associated with that. The 1.0-era comic pages that say that can't be changed so easily (so many pages!!), so eh...they're remnants of the old name for now. Just know it was never a hateful name!

Raison's original site is no more, either. We plan to switch up hosts. The upkeep is too expensive now. It's stuff we're looking into as well~

And we'll have new comic projects in the horizon, too~ Not just Raison's return! I hope you're looking forward to it!

Chapter 7: Pgs 1-13 (The Final Pages of "Old Raison")

As you know, "Raison d'Etre" is currently on hiatus for a while, as we work on a new version of its story. Before this decision, I was posting Chapter 7 pages as they were completed for Patrons, and...well...I don't want to keep them exclusive anymore!

Oh, and "Vixy" (mentioned in Pg 13) was this girl that I had occasionally teased on my art accounts here and there. The answer to what was going on? She's hiding in the backseat and was going to reveal herself by giggling. Unfortunately, her fate for New Raison is unknown at this time.

Sure is cute, though~

I'm just a nobody but I really wanted to tell you that I freaking loveeee your comic! I've been reading it since quarantine and recently I re-read all the previous chapters and it's still the best comic ever! I realised some chapters aren't there anymore but I'm sure you have something big planned! Anyway I really hope you continue to pump out awesome chapters cause I really love this comic! Thank you very much for you comments! Sadly, this is where this FIRST VERSION of the comic ends - whatever you read here, including the Specials, is all there was before I started this reset hiatus.

But don't fret! My wife and I have been carefully reworking the comic to be a more coherent tale that uses the same world, MOST of the character backgrounds (with some modifications) and story elements introduced in Part 2. It is still in the works, but we hope to get something started by the end of this year or the beginning of the next!

Until then, you can always check out my personal tag for all the Raison-related arts and extras I've done over the years! There's even some comics in there not posted elsewhere!

There's only one more update left after this - the special illustration always offered after each Chapter end (will be posted on main site ONLY next Sat), but after that...Well, it's time to take a Winter hiatus again. But this time, not due to any serious issues, no...

The C14 team is working hard on bringing a NEW version of Part 1 to life! We will share progress and concept art on the C14 Twitter (link below) and pages will be uploaded to Patreon as they get completed - ALL patrons will be able to see the new Part 1 as it happens! And everyone else, well, we are aiming to have all of this posted on the NEW version of our site when we come back from the hiatus in the spring.
