Sleepover ⊠Raj & Emma
brennan-walkerâ
Emma snorted at him, seeing through his feigned politeness. âPlease,â she scoffed. âWeâre friends. Who else are you supposed to meet new people with. Anyway, Iâm a great wingwoman.â And besides, why on earth would she ever be jealous? They were just friends and Emma would never in a million years ever think of him in /that way./ He was just her fun neighbor who was willing to put up with all of her wild and random bullshit. In fact, the more she thought about it, the more fun it would be to be able to finally see him interact with another woman. It would give her fuel to tease him for weeks, she was sure.
She laughed at his words and shook her head. âYou just make it too easy! And besides, it wouldnât be a secret club if we told you about it. We would have to get new t-shirts and everything.â She poked him playfully and took another sip of her tea. The warmth was doing a number to the sour mood that she had only a few hours before and she wasnât sure if it was Rajâs presense or the physical comfort of dry clothes that made it so.
Snorting a little she raised an eyebrow at his insistence that he could have fun. Not that she could disagree with him, since she did tend to have a good time with him for the most part, but his version of fun was definitely not the same as hers. It was fun for her to scale buildings and but herself into physical danger. It was fun for him to play video games at all hours and sit around on his computer. âFirst of all, I sure you would do fine in the elevator shaft as long as you know how to properly tie your harness. Secondly, it would be even more fun than I imagined! Youâd like it too if you were to give it a shot. Itâs kind of like that scene in Toy Story 2.â She was already itching to do something exciting again and she wondered if maybe he wouldnât mind coming with her next time. It would be easier if he could turn off the security system first.
She lingered around his living area for a while, picking up odd items that she has looked at multiple times before. She found everything within his home interesting, though not in the way that the works of art that she stole were interesting. It was as if she was seeing a piece of himself with every book and picture he had on display. Compared to her apartment, which was plain and only possessed a bed and a drawer for her clothes, it was interesting. At his words, she turned toward his couch and plopped next to him. âSure! What kind of movie? Horror? Mystery? Some stupid romantic comedy?â
âYou know my mom would absolutely love you. And if you actually meet my mom youâd know how much of a compliment that is. Maybe I should bring you to my parentsâ restaurant sometimes. Since youâre always looking for some sort of thrill I wonder how youâd feel about taking the risk to try some of that extra spicy food we got to offer.â Raj returned with a grin before shaking his head at her. âYou guys just donât know how to handle all this.â he said after leaning back in his seat and gesturing at himself, fully aware that he was making a fool of himself, yet he didnât mind. Their banter was part of their dynamic and he gladly took the fall to distribute some comic relief. After all that was what he was known for and what he was best at. He never was one to take himself too serious and if anything that only showed even clearer when he was around Emma or his sister, or other people that he was particularly comfortable with.
âYou know what? I actually donât know how to properly tie a harness, so thanks for the pep talk.â Raj returned before side-eyeing her, his grin still not faltering. He watched her observe his decorations, most of which he had put there with a few stray objects from Mira or his parents. It was mostly for aesthetics because even though he didnât want to admit it he kind of liked that his place looked like a fancy Taylor Howes ad. Besides, he knew it would appease his mother to know that he could keep his place neat so to not bring shame to his family. She didnât know of Chiqui who came over every other day to ensure it stayed that way. What the eye does not see, the heart does not grieve over, or something like that.
âYour response wants me to put on the most annoying Katherine Heigl movie that I can find, just to spite you. But since I was raised right, I say âladyâs choiceâ. Just donât put me through another gore movie. Thatâs more Miraâs thing.â he returned with a low laugh before shutting close his laptop and reaching for the remote. He had done a few improvements to his entertainment system which meant that he could watch movies and shows now before they were even released, which was a big win when it came to the GOT finale because he had been able to threaten Mira with spoilers the second she got sassy with him.
