Fun with the Family Fridays - Week 1 (Simulation)

AHEM. Our clocks were a day behind so we’re airing this episode of Family Fridays a bit late, but we’ve fixed it, and unless any weird deer walks into the studio to mess things up, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled program!

The Mikes have gone through all the fan mail, (...most we’ve had in years…) and have chosen from our very impressive group of applicants, and now we at TV Time Entertainment would like to introduce you to our latest team members! 

For those of you who’ve been following our development for a while, you’ll remember Laine and Lizz! Laine is our project head and Mike’s right hand Ike, and is the reason why I’m still on the Dreemur’s TV Cabinet, otherwise Toriel would have thrown me out years ago! Lizz helps us to keep our paperwork going and makes sure that our notes don’t get lost. If only I had them a few years ago, then maybe I’d still have…that contract. Oh well! There’s no use crying over it!

And now, for the first of our new team, we have Paige and Kristal! 

Paige is one of our scriptwriters and makes sure that I look my best at all times, hey, why’s Mike running away with a typewriter? Anyway…Kristal is next up, and she’s one of the Lightners we hired to keep us looking fresh and sparkly!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at least two redrawings of that iconic shot from the sky walking scene so I did a slightly different shot from the same scene 🤭

I LOVE THIS MOVIE IT MAKES ME CRY and also the curse so works for Spamtong. Day 1000000 of me connecting interests. I guess this is what happens when you’ve drawn four full sketchbooks of just Spamtenna (dear god).

I decided to let Spam in this au maintain some of his original voice, so no spam quotes, but I think he talks in a funny lil Pinocchio falsetto hehe (which to be real I also think that happened to canon spamton’s voice…….puppetfication chipmunked his voice…and the glitches just make it even harder to understand). I did this since Sophie doesn’t really have any issues with speaking under her curse and I wanted to keep the curse effects the same for the au (except he’s a puppet instead of an old man (though I guess a puppet is what he becomes at an old age so it’s not completely off)).

I have more I’ll post later today 🤭.

Deltarune and Simpsons References

I’m being very self indulgent and making a post gathering all the Simpsons references I found so far. I’m a nerd for both things so I feel a need to hoard them like an obsessed dragon. So here’s a small collection of what I’ve noticed so far, but if anyone has spotted more let me know! It’s fun and if I see anymore I’ll add them!

First, the one that made me go “That’s it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I’m making a tumblr post about this!” Was this line Ralsei can say in Chapter 3 when you enter the shop.

It’s a quote of Homer from the episode “Boy-Scoutz 'n the Hood” when Homer’s brain explains to him that $20 can buy many peanuts.

Next is what the Bibliox can say to you in battle in Chapter 4.

It’s from the episode “Last Exit to Springfield” when Mr. Burns is reading what one of his thousands of monkeys typed. He’s disappointed it’s not yet the greatest novel known to man. This was an excellently placed reference, caught me off guard and got a good little chuckle out of me.

This next one is a gut feeling but I’m sure of it. I think Spamton’s car, the “Cungadero”, is a play on The Simpson’s “Canyonero”.

I’m not American, I’m British (for my sins) so if it’s referencing some other US car I’m not sure, but looking it up it doesn’t seem to be and the names are to similar. Like it’s matches a similar sense of humour as when Tenna says the “Sblurfs” instead of the “Smurfs”. Say a familiar word silly to get around copyright in a fun way and also it’s then your own thing and you can have fun with it!

Maybe I’m grasping straws, but it was the first thing I thought of when I heard them name of the car when I first played Chapter 2 many moons ago.

It first appeared in “The Last Temptation of Krust" and if I suddenly got the motivation I’d 100% animate Spamton’s car ad to its jingle!

Lastly Alphys design has been confirmed to be inspired by a bunch of things, one of the most obvious being Lisa.

She even seems to be a fan of this world’s version of it “The Symptons.” She’s a girl after my own heart! It has 28 seasons, so close to Simpsons’s… what? Going on 40 now? I stopped watching when it got rebooted to Simpon’s Turbo.

Everyone talking about the Toy Story connections, the friend inside me but YOU’RE BLIND THE SIMPSONS IS THE KEY TO CRACKING THE CODE OF DELTARUNE IT’S ALL THEIRE IN YELLOW PAINT!?!..

Anyway, I’m sure there is more or might be more in the future. I’m going try and update it as it goes on but for now let’s end on a quote from Toby Fox…
