Daisuke could've have been many things.
Sounds blasting from many speakers of several flashy machines. Buttons clicking and the satisfying sound of a faux cha-ching and similar shiny effects added to the mix. He popped the panel close on one of the DDR cabinets before twisting the key to lock it after doing some troubleshoots. He flashes a grin and thumbs up at the teens who were now ready to play. They remind him of himself, skipping class to drop by the arcade with his friends.
The blare of a car horn snaps him back. Was he that sleepy? He almost drops his umbrella. It was raining and he flips a finger at the driver before pointing at the pedestrian lane. His shift just ended. Finally. Unfortunately, it was rush hour and the way back to the train station wasn't all too fun. It ended up being packed and he grips on the handles hanging from the ceiling. It sucks. It was mundane. The only color to his uniform was his pink necktie adorned with embroidered hibiscus of a shade slightly brighter than the cloth.
The stadium lights were blinding and the cheers and chants were deafening. This was the final game for this season. Just one last round to seal that shiny gold trophy. It was nerve wracking. No pressure right? The grip on his bat tightens for a moment as he positions himself.
There were many more like this, all these visions. Happy, sad, and all the emotions. But they all seem to have something similar. One of his rings were either added or repositioned on his left hand. Ring finger to be exact.
After doing a round through the arcade, he approaches the counter where you were working in. Daisuke's arm wraps around your waist as he kisses you and you playfully smack his shoulder and he laughs. What is this, a romcom? Corny. You fucking loved it anyways. You adjust the collar of his colorful Hawaiian shirt as an excuse for him to hold you longer before he excuses himself to check something at the back, making sure to leave you one more kiss.
Home. It was a shitty, small, cheap apartment. But it was home. Daisuke thought the stupid doorknob would be his reason to crashout that day, but when he hears a bark and footsteps, he stops and waits. The door flies open and he was dragged in by the necktie, then pressed up against the door as it closes and you lock it as you kissed him. He drops everything and returns all the affection tenfold. All of the day's stress washes off when you ramble about what you cooked for dinner and what you and Polle — the dog — saw for this morning's walk.
A home-fucking-run. The cheers and screams were deafening, hell, he probably screamed so loud his voice would be screwed later, but he doesn't care. He immediately tried to find where you were seated and made a dash for it, lifting you up and kissing you without care. Daisuke does this all for you, of course. You're the reason why he's got into the team after all.
You were in all of them. You made it all tolerable no matter how shitty it was.
Even in this one. When instead of closing his eyes, he looks at you, stained with what he thinks was his blood. He couldn't tell with this lighting.
Where you held his limp hand as you wailed, frustrated, angry, sad— you can't tell either but it hurt. It was all too sudden for you to process your feelings. Even Swansea couldn't console you and you couldn't even say Daisuke's name if you tried. Too busy sobbing. It was definitely overwhelming and it gets into someone's head. It only quiets when the bullet hits the middle of you parietal bone and you fall on Daisuke's body, laying on his chest.
Received a month’s worth of scolding, probably set a new record, until you broke out the puppy eyes. The man folded like a lawn chair

Confiscated the stash for “safety purposes,” of course
But later, as you were searching for him, you heard that unmistakable crinkle
Turning the corner, you locked eyes with Curly mid-sweetener-binge, guilt written all over his face
You? Yeah, if murder was a look, it'd be yours. His spine shivered, rethinking how you rivalled his mama's look
"Look, I can expla--"
"Wow, cap, just wow"
Let’s just say… compromises were made that day to keep his “responsible captain” reputation intact

Stoic. Cold. Unforgiving. That’s all you saw in Jimmy’s eyes when he caught you
When you asked for him to keep his mouth shut, the co-pilot tilted his head, unimpressed
“Please don’t tell Curly!”
“Beg.”
“Wh—what?”
The audacity to turn his back on you and started walking away
“You had your chance.”
Next thing you knew, you were on your knees, clutching his pant leg like your life depended on it
“Please, Jimmy! Please, please!”
“Captain.”
“Wha—?”

You left with your dignity in tatters, but hey, at least the stash was safe

Caught you mid-sneak with a mouthful of granola. Lucky for you, she’s a nurse. Unlucky for you, she had to Heimlich the oats out of your throat
You coughed up half a granola bar, wheezing your thanks while she doubled over laughing
“You can thank me with some of that stash,” she teased
You were so mortified that you actually stopped hoarding snacks… for about a week. After that, you couldn’t even look her in the eye without turning red
One dinner, the meal was oats. You looked like death warmed over just sitting there, your bowl untouched
Curly frowned. “You okay, Y/N?”
Anya, with the save: “Oh, Cap. Y/N has an oat allergy.”
You gave her a grateful smile. She winked. Meanwhile, Daisuke inhaled your bowl. Unfazed cause his second bowl is a gift
Intern Daisuke
The deal was simple: split the stash 50-50. But Daisuke never knew about your extra stash
When he found out? Heart. Shattered. The man had literal tears in his eyes
“Y/N, how could you?”
He stormed off like the lead in a romcom breakup scene, leaving you grumbling to yourself. But guilt eventually got you, and you chased him down
He whipped around so fast it was like a soap opera in real-time: one hand clutching his (Hawaiian-shirt) heart, the other thrown over his forehead like he was aboutta faint
“Dai, I’m sorry!”
“Words can’t heal this wound.”
“Fine, 75% of next week’s stash is yours.”
“…Aight, cool.”
All of this happened while the entire crew watched from the sidelines, legit done with both your antics (except a certain giggling nurse, who was very entertained)

The holidays were near. The main area had garlands made of green plastic and tinsels sparsely hung around, a small water-activated paper Christmas tree growing in the middle of the dining table, and a bright red Christmas hat on Polle's ear. It wasn't much, but at least festive enough to feel some semblance of home. Though, one day, an additional piece of decor had been added by the entrance of the lounge.
[ Anya ]
You two were on break, folding and snipping away. The medical bay was filled with both your chattering, accompanied by gasps, giggling, and more as you both gossiped about stuff back on Earth— occasionally, some rumors about your co-workers too. Before you know it, you two were unfurling the last pieces of paper snowflakes.
"You think this is enough?"
"Yeah!"
With exchanged grins, both of you gathered the newly made decor and made your short trip towards the lounge, continuing the chat from beforehand. When the door slides open, you were both silenced by Daisuke pointing above your heads. In sync, you and Anya's eyes trailed from the intern, to the Captain beside him that gave you both a wave, then to the mistletoe, then to each other with a matching tint of red on both your cheeks.
Anya's hand covered her mouth with the tips of her fingers, and yours held your own cheek. It was silent for a quick moment which scared the other two, but you both started a giggling fit.
"You don't hafta do it if you don't want to!"
"Nono, it's okay. I promise. C'mere." Anya reassures you immediately.
You lean in and so does she, planting a kiss on both sides of your cheek and then a peck on the lip.
[ Curly ]
After convincing your Captain, he agrees to discreetly make a cake for a small holiday dinner. With a not-so discreet 'Yes!' from you, he chuckles and shakes his head. Whatever makes you happy.
But that means you have to help, which isn't much of a problem to you anyways. It's just shoving packets into a machine that automatically makes it, so it's not that big of a chore. Or maybe he just needed an excuse to spend time doing something together with you.
"Alright, doll. Let's go make your cake."
Beaming, you followed just beside him. He finds it endearing how quickly it is to please you.
The door opens and something taps his forehead, making him stop, and you as well, following his gaze.
"Cheeky." He exhales from his nose as he smiles. "You put this here?"
"No, but are you giving me a kiss?"
He looks around, body leaning back to check at the hallway again before he returns to you. His fingers gently held your chin, tilting your head up and closing in. Curly presses his lips against yours, once, twice, and a last one for good measure. The man couldn't wipe the grin off of his face afterwards even if he tried to.
[ Daisuke ]
GRUMBLE.
From where you were comfortably resting and spectating his gameplay, his stomach roars at you, the sound twice as loud with your ear pressed against it.
"Wanna eat?" Your hair scrunches at your temple as you faced him.
"Mm. Almost done." The sounds of hard plastic tapping grew louder and faster as he speedran through the level. A soft mechanical tune plays as he finishes it and he throws his tiny console to the side of his pillow. Grunting, he sits up as your head rolls onto his lap. Daisuke scoops his hand behind your head to help you sit up as well, both of you stretching and leaving the bed. It was the end of the day after all, you both couldn't help but be lazy with how tiring the shift was today.
Upon successful collection and opening of canned foods, you sat on the counter to watch your partner in crime punch some numbers into the machine that popped out sweetener packets. It's impressive to you, managing to convince the captain for some of it so he could find out what the code was and memorize it.
"Got it!" He raises the two pink packets with a grin and tilting his head towards the door. "Let's go?"
With a nod, you hop off the surface and made your way back to your shared sleeping quarters when you noticed an object at the top of your peripheral. You stop on your tracks, nudging his side and nodded your head since your hands were full, gesturing at the mistletoe and pointing with your mouth.
"Pucker up, babe." He grins, energy suddenly coming back to him.
"You can just kiss me whenever you wanted to. You didn't have to sneak that in."
"Didn't put it up there, chief."
"Then who?"
With a shrug, he winks at you. "Dunno. Beats me!"
[ Jimmy ]
His mood was sour the whole day and he always beats around the bush when you try to ask about it. So, you resort to the other option-- giving him space. Oh, but that only made his mood worse. He's thinking you were ignoring him now.
It's been frustrating, you didn't know what to do about it either, so you decided to ask Curly for some advice. But that still makes everything worse! Jimmy saw you talking to Curly too and it made him even more irrationally upset, somehow resorting to a conclusion that now you don't want him, so you're going for Curly.
Jimmy then devised a plan. Making sure to chat with you and Curly in order to keep you both by the dining table, long enough so that the other three would head back to their designated quarters and unfortunately for him, he needed to be a chatterbox like you guys.
But hey, it worked, right?
That's when he suddenly had to excuse himself and asked you for some help. Agreeing, you both went on your way to exit the lounge when his arms hook around your waist, planting a kiss on your lips and you let out a surprised noise. Jimmy made sure Curly was looking too.
"Jimmy, not here!"
"Hey, I'm just following tradition." He points up at the mistletoe above your head with a smug grin.
[ Swansea ]
Another sigh escapes your lips and you hear Swansea put down a screwdriver.
"Alright, what's botherin' ya this time?"
You shift from Swansea's chair, twirling it slightly as you readjust your position so that you could rest your head on your palm. "Don't you miss celebrating the holidays?"
He seems unamused but you notice his demeanor change ever so slightly. With a huff he responds. "You get used to it up here." He takes another tool and continued tinkering.
Swansea could see you deflate from his peripheral vision. There was a moment of silence when he spoke up, not looking away from his work. "There's a box beside the birthday shit. If you could fix it before I finish here then I'll help you put it up. Deal?"
Beaming, you hopped out of the chair, rushed over to him and gave him a peck on the cheek before heading out.
"Thanks, Swans."
Fortunately for you, it wasn't a hard fix anyways. One of the wires connected to the battery holder was snapped off and all it needed was a little soldering.
Safe to say you did finish before him.
Excitedly, you helped him clean up and you both headed for the lounge. This was nice, you'd proudly say it if you had to and Swansea felt the same albeit never admitting it. Idly chatting about stuff back home as you hung up the lights. Swansea seemed to be having fun talking about his kids as well, going on about their holiday shenanigans whenever he got the luxury to come back home during these seasons. Surprisingly, the lights were long enough to decorate the wall behind Polle, even blending nicely into the garlands.
"Let's call everyone to eat now?"
"Alright."
You were walking towards the door when you notice it, grabbing Swansea's wrist as he turns back. Before he scolds you, you point up at the mistletoe above the both of you.
"I'm too old for this shit."
"C'mon, Swans! Just this once, please!"
You hear another defeated sigh from him when he suddenly holds you and dips you as you kissed. When you both finish, he raises your hands, twirling you and landing another kiss onto your knuckles that got you speechless.

At this point, you could tell the intervals of the static on this clunky monitor with how much staring you've done at it. Continuously debugging and iterating the codes for the test circuit just beside you. The only time you took breaks was when Swansea had to drag you out to eat since you surprisingly didn't listen to Daisuke. Even the crew was impressed that you got Swansea this worried for you.
You pressed on tab, the other intern flinching at how hard you pressed the key, eyebrows knitting as he gave you a worried gaze. He knows that look, you often do it before running the program. Slamming on enter, you stare at the bright green [BUILD SUCCESSFUL...] nervously. It was a whole process really, coding, flashing, building, testing. The problem was always the last part. You've been remaking this stupid circuit for the whole day, but whenever you try to fix one problem, another one pops up. Just like this trial. One of the goddamned LEDs weren't lighting up.
Your palms roughly meet the table surface, shaking everything on top. With a heavy sigh, rub your face aggressively and groan. Better that than screaming profanities, right? You're questioning your career choice again. Your thoughts were disturbed when a hand rests on your shoulder and you tense up for a moment, only to relax ever so slightly when you hear him call out for your name, soft, concerned.
Daisuke was with you this whole time, always reminding you to take breaks and checking up on you. Even sneaking in snacks. He's the only one who could keep you grounded whenever it came to situations like these— it's hard for him not to, after all. Always so mindful of your well-being and how you feel. It makes you wonder if you reciprocate and thank him enough for it.
"Dude, your eyes are like super red." His eyes pop up in your peripherals as he leaned over to peek at you. "C'mon. We can take a break together?" Another heavy sigh escapes from your lips and you leaned back, head resting on his shoulder with closed eyes as he pets your head. He signalled for the both of you to head up and rest with two pats on your cheek, only surprising him when you spun your stool around to bury your face on his chest. Daisuke's chin rests on top of your head, fingers twirling on your hair and unconsciously massaging the back of your head.
"Stupid thing won't work."
"It was lighting up?" His smile became more wobbly when he hears you sigh again.
"Not correctly."
"Dude, I still don't know my shit around circuits and your out here programming them. Do you know how cool that is to me?" You hum, tightening your hold around his waist and he chuckles. There was a moment of comfortable silence, hugging the frustrations away. "The coolest."
"You know what I do when I can't get my drawings right?" You give him another noise of acknowledgement and he continues in a tone as if he was saying the most obvious thing ever.
"Take a break!"
"Sleep on it. Gotta check the piece with fresh eyes to find the mistakes." He tilts his head to face you, combing your hair back. "You wouldn't find it if you've been staring at the same thing for too long, right? There's always tomorrow."
The way you looked up at him had his heart skipping a beat. "Dai?"
"Yeah?"
