āPeter doesnāt giggle, but when he goes he REALLY goes.ā - Jenna Coleman at Oz Comic-Con (x)
And this is something weāve all been blessed to see happen many times. Just another reason to love this man even more! š
You know, Iām actually not even the least bit shocked that the BBC is deciding to announce who Thirteen is less than a week before SDCC. Which is, as we all know, supposed to be a big farewell and celebration of Peterās Doctor and Moffatās era.Ā
Matt announced he was leaving back in June of 2013 and Peter wasnāt announced as Twelve until August of 2013. This didnāt happen to Matt, so why should it happen to Peter? It seems like its no secret that the BBC (and the media) have undermined Twelve and Peterās run at every chance they got. There is hardly any official merchandise of Twelve, especially when you compare it to Ten and Eleven. On top of that, Twelveās run has not only not won any awards or given any recognition for its groundbreaking episodes, but Peter himself hasnāt won anything for his time on the show. Who knows, maybe he will for series 10, but right now its looking doubtful.Ā
Ever since 2014, several articles have ran with the titlesĀ āWho will be Peter Capaldiās replacement?ā,Ā ā_____ wants to be the Thirteenth Doctor!ā,Ā āHave ratings gone down because of Peter Capaldi?ā, etc. Articles ran filled with ageism, and nothing but disrespect towards Peter.Ā
I could probably go on a much longer rant, but I wonāt. Peter and his era deserves so much more credit and love than its given. It has been one of the most groundbreaking, if not the most groundbreaking era that this show has ever made.Ā
Peterās run was so good but people wonāt give him the respect he deserves for giving us such quality content. I hope itās something besides his age but the only other reason that I can think of is that people have decided the show is ācringeyā for itās lack of representation. And thatās a reasonable complaint but itās not Peterās fault.
But what kills me even more than the lack of respect is how little Peter cares. Heās just a sweet cinnamon roll who takes selfies with any fan who wants one because heās living out his childhood dream. He is a lifelong fan and his focus is on us fans. When the BBC designed his costume he made sure it was easily cosplayable. We are his first priority and the fact that weāve treated him so poorly in return safe in the knowledge that he will treat us well anyway just kills me.
I truly believe he got a big slack by the media, critics, and some younger fans just because he is older than the ānew whoā Doctors. Like real fans know in āold whoā the Doctors were older, jeez heās a grandfather after all! š¤¦āāļøHow Peter and Jenna didnāt have chemistry because of the age gap! Lol No chemistry at all, they just happen to be best buds outside of DW š¤·š»āāļøMuch respect to Peter and how he went about it all gracefully. Enjoy your free time Peter, you definitely deserve itā¤ļø

āHello there. My name is Peter Capaldi, and I am the new Doctor.ā
āBeing asked to play āThe Doctorā is an amazing privilege. Like the Doctor himself I find myself in a state of utter terror and delight. I canāt wait to get started.ā
āI donāt remember āDoctor Whoā not being part of my life, and it became a part of growing up, along with The Beatles, National Health spectacles, and fog. And it runs deep. Itās in my DNA.ā
āI didnāt want to be Doctor Who in a āDoctor Whoā that I didnāt like.ā
āWhen I was a kid, I wrote to the BBC, and the producers sent me a huge package through the post with 'Doctor Whoā scripts. Iād never even seen a script and couldnāt believe that they actually wrote this stuff down. It sort of opened a door.ā
āEven though I am a lifelong 'Doctor Whoā fan, Iāve not played him since I was nine. I downloaded old scripts and practiced those in front of the mirror.ā
āEvery viewer who ever turned on 'Doctor Whoā has taken him into his heart. He belongs to all of us.ā
āI think the nice thing about 'Doctor Whoā is whether people like it or donāt like it, somewhere, someone loves you and will always love you - and the more everyone hates you, the more theyāll love you.ā
āI wake up in the morning, and I go, 'Iām Doctor Who! Iām playing Doctor Who. Iām Doctor Who.'ā
ā'Doctor Whoā has a certain amount of showbiz attached to it.ā
āEven if I hadnāt been cast as Doctor Who, my acting would probably have been influenced by William Hartnell or Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, and all of the other guys. Because those were the actors that I really watched every moment of, as opposed to Laurence Olivier.ā
āI know what 'Doctor Whoā fans are like because I am a 'Doctor Whoā fan myself. Theyāre good people.ā

Hi. Iām Bill.
As the 12th Doctor has developed we see that he is the most emotionally exposed of them all. Heās a raw nerve of screaming emotion all the time, he can barely contain it. His attempts at seeming aloof are an acknowledgement that feeling things hurts bad for him.
Steven Moffat summing up the 12th Doctor (Doctor Mysterio DVD Extra)
Somethingās coming, Bill⦠I have the feeling that weāre gonna be very busy.
