In one of my film classes last semester we had to tell a story in 3 pictures for a mini assignment so my friend and I did this
Happy 10 year anniversary to this post!
Project Hail Mary gives me hope that I don't have to write a story where the main character is having sex and falling in romantic love to be a good story that people want to relive again and again. Like maybe I just need a main character that's a little relatable to be given a task that seems impossible but we all get to figure it out together as we go.
SO, i just read the novelization of the lost boys by craig shaw gardner and here are a few things i noticed when reading vs watching the movie. minor spoilers btw, read at your risk
the deleted scenes are included in the book. examples: david catches michael when he falls from the bridge, michael discusses dropping out of school with his mom, the lost boys circle lucy as she leaves the video store, etc.
the pov jumps a lot from sam, to michael, to lucy, and to star depending on who’s doing what’s most important in the moment. you get internal dialogue of each character during these moments which is really nice, something you can’t get in the movie
part of this means you see more scenes of lucy interacting with max, their dates, and how she feels about him. she also reflects on her previous marriage to her ex-husband, whose name is lance btw
sam, as a character, is supposed to be very preppy. he has designer clothes, he cares about his hair and how it’s styled, loves mtv, and he’s very into comics. you even see more of the vampire comics that the frog brothers gave him
you get michael’s internal struggle as he deals with his bloodlust and rage and his general teen angst
star gives a little more info about her life before the lost boys, that she ran away from home and was homeless when they found her. the lost boys hid their vampire-selves from her. also, laddie just feels like a stronger presence (not a whole lot, it’s still minor but he has a few moments with star where he doesn’t feel like an afterthought)
star also singles out paul as being the jokester of the group and the one who was nicest to her
the lost boys are actually referred to as that by star and everyone around. they’re supposed to be a gang with their rivals being the surf nazis. the surf nazis are more prevalent, you learn the leader’s name, they have a couple run ins with the frog brothers and they mess with sam at one point
the vampire powers are little different too. garlic still does nothing but holy water and stakes work. michael, at one point, burns himself while trying to shower so i think water also harms them. the lost boys are also kind of referenced as having wings when they fly around but at the same time they float so that part was a little unclear to me
i totally recommend the book to anyone who really liked the movie. it’s a very simple read, about 220 pages, and is literally the movie in book form with bonus scenes. like, you actually read the part where star pierces michael’s ear
EVERYONE SHUT UP RN
THEY DID IT AHHHHHHHHHH
Where's that comment?
Hello Tumblr!
@jubs here, today, to tell you about a feature we're building: Comments by author!
Comments (or replies) have been around for a while, but they have always been tucked away from your regular feed, and so we're working on a few ways to integrate them into the rest of our experience.
Soon, blogs will have a Comments tab alongside Posts, Likes, and Following. There, you will be able to see posts other people have been commenting on, and, more importantly, find your own comments! This was not possible before, except through notifications if someone engaged with your comment.
We're also working on a way to surface posts commented on by people you follow in your feeds. You will be able to find those in the For You tab, and later, alongside chronological posts in the Following tab.
So, how do you identify those posts in the feeds?
Replied posts will show a small preview right there in your dashboard, before you click anything.
This is not out yet, but soon! In the meantime, tell us what you think and expect from this! ☺︎
Launch Day
@jubs again!
First of all, thank you all for the feedback in the original post!
Today, we're launching the new "Comments" tab for Blog pages, and we'll be testing a For You recommendation based on comments from people you follow. The posts will have a preview of the reply, so you know why you're seeing that post.
You will be able to control the new tab visibility, and whether we should include your comments in your follower's feeds, through a new setting:
The toggle can be found on https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/YOUR_BLOG or in the General Settings > Replies section, on Mobile. If you have already disabled the "Share posts you like" setting, the setting will default to disabled.
The new tab is only available on Web and iOS (44.8+) for now, but the toggle is available to everyone (including on Android), so you can control what other people see on your blogs, even if you don't have the new feature yet. Don't worry, we have plans to implement the tab and posts on Android, soon!
---
We want to later include these replied posts to the Following feed as well, and we're planning on adapting the current "Include posts liked by the blogs you follow" toggle to also consider comments, in case you don't want to see shared comments from people you follow.
What do you think? As always, we appreciate your thoughts, keep 'em coming!

Keeping an alive tumblr in 2026 is proof of one's sincerity and authenticity - a type of person who enjoys posting for the sake of it with absolutely nothing to be gained....just the enjoyment of curation and self expression untainted by opportunity and relevance
is it too much to do an in-depth analysis about the differences between the book, movie, and series of interview with the vampire?

making my way through the vampire chronicles and i have a question for anyone who has read farther than me (i’m like a 1/4 into the vampire lestat): when does the relationship with lestat and gabrielle stop being weird?
finally finished reading the vampire lestat (i know it’s been a while, life got me busy) and can confirm, just when you think the relationship between lestat and his mom is not front and center anymore, it pops back up like a jumpscare. should i continue and read queen of the damned before the new season drops?
