I'm still Big Mad from the animation industry AI news, and I had some thoughts I needed to get out. There are lots of more important reasons why artists shouldn't use AI, but here is my philosophical take on it.
PATREON
Fairy costume for a 1954 production of Oberon at the Opéra National de Paris, designed by Jean-Denis Malclès (via).
Bird of Prey Illustrations by Donna McCarty from"Enjoying Indiana Birds" by Alfled (Bud) Starling
Barred Owl / Great Horned Owl / Long-eared owl /Screech Owl / Bald Eagle / American Kestrel / Osprey / Red-shouldered Hawk / Red Tailed hawk / Sharp-shinned Hawk
I started reading Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way. I decided I'm going to do the tasks and the morning pages and take myself out on artist's dates. This is so exciting but also quite scary.
I start on monday to make tracking my progress easier.
I want to be a better creative and I also have some blocks that I cannot seem to get rid of so this will be my attempt to do just that. I'll see if it's going to work or not. I hope it will work.
I already bought notebooks for my morning pages and for tracking my progress so I can start without worrying. I mean it cost money but this time it's worth it I hope.
Well, good luck to me.
A kelpie is just a mermaid horse
Made for mermay 2026
On account of Mermay here's a horse
I may or may not finish this sketch but at least I did something
And when the nights are long
All those stars recall your goodbye
Your goodbye
My creative process includes pacing in my apartment for 10 minutes between two brushstrokes.
Magic in your hand
"The Forest"
An illustration I painted and turned into an animated gif. This was very tedious but I like how it turned out.
Sleeping Guardian: Digital Illustration (2026)
My oc Fynn sleeping amongst one of the old growth trees of Schimmernd Forest. The tree is based off of Crann Bethadh (celtic tree of life) and Yggdrasil (norse tree of life). Fynn himself is a Silva (forest elf) and a Großer Wächter (Great Guardian).
I managed to change the lightbulb in my salt-lamp!
I'm such an adult. I'm so proud of myself.

i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
Yee yee!!! You got it right on the nose!
Bounce light is something I didn't cover but I adore it!
Gotta work on my bounce light 💪
Yay for local color and color relativity! I love seeing artists continuing to share and learn from each other!
