EU Referendum - Are we actually leaving?

I’ve had all day to digest this and I just can’t. I keep thinking it is just a bad dream. 

The Prime Minister has resigned. The value of the Pound has fallen. The FTSE 100 closes 4% lower. 

I just can’t deal. Now we are left at the mercy of the Brexiteers... I dread the thought. One minute Farage says ‘£350 million will go to the NHS’ - wins the campaign and suddenly that becomes ‘LOL NAH. MISTAKE SOZ’.

Hoping that the politicians who are in charge aren’t as incapable. God help us all.

5 Simple Reasons to Remain

1) As a language student the EU gave me free money to go study and work abroad. 

Who gives out free money?! Thank EU!

2) Easy travel within the EU

Who can be bothered getting a visa to hop over the channel to France? And then wait in long lines to get said visas checked? NAH.

3) The EU are big fans of gender equality

In a day and age where women are battling to be equal to their male counterparts, this is no time to be pushing away a powerful body in your corner.

4) Doesn’t look like the economy would be too hot without the EU either

The day the Leave campaign started to edge closer to the Remain campaign in the polls the Pound’s value fell. I’m no economist but this seems like a warning, and a fair few others agree. How am I supposed to use the Making it Rain emoji if it ain’t raining?

5) It’s time to get off our high horse.

Sure, we’re a rich and powerful country and historically have been, but let’s be realistic, we are no longer Great Britain, we’re just an Average Joe Britain. We no longer have an industry that is envied, nor do we have abundant colonies to support us. We live in an increasingly globalised society. We must be a part of it to flourish. 

By the time this post goes up poll stations will be closed. Let’s hope we REMAIN.

EU Referendum - HAPPY VOTING

Today I battled the London floods and made it in... on an actual train! Didn’t think that was going to be possible today given the chaos that was this morning. 

I walked out the station and there were campaigners everywhere. At this particular station there was one chap in his 50s supporting  Brexit and 2 or 3 others supporting the remain campaign (heh, I rhymed). 

Obviously, they were not going to launch into a proper political debate at the doors of a tube station but for goodness sake, a Brexiteer yelling “Nobody in Brussels was voted in by anyone” is ridiculous. Where do you think they came from? Do you really believe some guy or girl rolled in off the street and was like “SUP BITCHEZ. I AM MR BOSS MAN NOW. SUCK IT.”? 

If you’re going to try convince someone of your point of view please try say something that sounds marginally educated. 

Suffice to say that technique of persuasion, if you can call it that, didn’t do much to change my mind.. but thanks for trying.

I got a limited edition thing?

So I don’t know about you guys but I’m the kind of person who just misses out on things. Rafa Nadal just walked down my street? I’ll get there 2 minutes too late. Want something limited edition? Sorry, just sold out. 

This week however, the tables have turned. 

I started the week just sitting in a cafe, sipping on my peach ice tea (my all time fav summer drink) and I see this chap looking kinda scruffy in a grey cameo hoodie, I keep looking and it’s Novak Djokovic! This does not happen to me. I was so surprised I hit my head against the glass staring.... seriously.

The following day, I was clearing out my emails, popped onto the Junk Folder to empty it and I see an email from Space NK saying that the Becca x Jaclyn Hill face palette had sold out online. Typical. Except, I didn’t even realise it was on sale in the UK. But this hidden away email changed everything. I could now feasibly get it... but only from a shop. I wasn’t about to tour the country looking for it, but hey, I figured if I come across it, I might buy it. Didn’t think I actually would... 

Today I popped into my local Space NK (which doesn’t even stock Becca products and lo and behold it is just sitting there on the check out desk, calling me... I swatch it, and OMG it is so pretty. There was this one colour, Amaretto, I wasn’t convinced about at first, I didn’t think it’d suit me (I have a sort of medium yellow/olive skin tone)... I was wrong, it is my new favourite thing. Anyway, I was hesitant about spending so much money, despite ALL THE PRETTY. So, the girl at Space NK puts it on hold for me (as it was the last one) whilst I go look for dupes for Prosecco Pop, the original reason I fell in love with this palette. Nope. Nothing even close to its beauty. 

I figured this was all a sign. 

I happened upon the hidden email, found the palette in a store that doesn’t stock Becca and it was the last one... yup. Definitely a sign. So I maybe splashed out and bought it... sorry bank account but WORTH IT.
