‘eat the frog' method
Hi all, it’s werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method called ‘eat the frog’, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! 😜 ❤️
“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” – Mark Twain

What are some chinese TV shows you reccomend watching for intermediate mandarin learners?
sorry it took me so long to answer!!
a lot of the shows i watch aren’t the best for learning from bc they’re historical dramas and no one speaks like that anymore so….yeah
but there are some shows i do enjoy watching that aren’t based in the distant past, so i’ll give you a few suggestions:
《谢谢你来了》: you can find lots of episodes of this show on youtube. the premise is that two people come on and there’s some kind of conflict or issue straining their relationship, so with the help of the host and a panel of experts they try to talk through their issues. this is great because the people who come on this show are from all over china so you get the opportunity to listen to a bunch of different accents. a lot of the conversations are really emotional though so just be prepared for that
《我是歌手》/《歌手》: this is technically two different shows but they’re done by the same people and use pretty much the exact same concept. the older seasons of the show are called《我是歌手》 and the more recent seasons are 《歌手》. anyways, it’s a singing show mostly but before each performance the singers usually talk about their song choice and other related things. a lot of singers from taiwan and china are on this show, so there’s a decent variety of accents plus lots of great music. you can find some of the seasons on youtube, but some of the full episodes are blocked depending on where you are (though you can probably find them if you do a little digging on chinese sites)
《2分之一强》: you can also find this one on youtube. it’s a taiwanese show where a group of foreigners living in taiwan discuss a bunch of issues with the two hosts and a couple other people. i’ve only seen a couple episodes so i’m honestly not too familiar with this show but it seems fun
those are honestly the only three tv shows i watch fairly often. outside of that i mostly listen to podcasts like 故事FM、听故事学中文,and 小顾聊绘画 (the first two can be found on itunes/apple podcast or whatever it’s called now, and the third one can be found on the 喜马拉雅 app)
